Anyone else who didn't care much about Neji's death? I'm sorry but the dude barely had any significance whatsoever in Shippuden (I could say the same about pretty much every chunin exam character except for Shikamaru and Gaara). It's hard to really feel too bad about a character's death when the only thing you remember him doing is him helping the others search for Gaara using his byakugan near the very beginning of the series.

Neji's always been pointless in Shippuden, along with most of the Konoha Eleven. Him dying was ultimately pointless and its context is both extremely stupid and the reasoning is pretty harmful to Naruhina's integrity.
If Neji had died battling Kidomaru in the Sasuke Retrieval arc, it not only would've been an extremely high note to end on, but it'd be dying for the sake of his comrades rather than for his clan or the village. Not like he's needed feat-wise when Hiashi, Hinata and Hanabi all have the same skillset as him.

But that's shonen for you: create characters for a single purpose and then keep them lingering in the background aftwrwards to string fans along. Tenten only exists to fill a gender quota, yet people kept hoping she would matter and then Kishi did that whole "weapons of the Six Paths Sage" nonsense for no reason.

along with most of the Konoha Eleven
Especially Rock Lee. Dammit they really did him dirty in Shippuden. They hyped him up so much in part 1, only to be tossed aside like used goods in Shippuden. Shikamaru was the only one who actually got a chance to shine.

This is everything wrong with Boruto condensed in a single panel

Why in the name of FUCK would you wear nigger pants for anything that requires mobility.

Pretty much, Neji should have died during the save Sasuke arc, since god knows nothing else was ever done with him after that. Chouji at least got a something to kind of give a justification as to why he shouldn't have died then and there, Neji? zilch. I still find it funny that in the great kill bait and switch he was pretty much the only one that stayed dead.

You know, I just realized this. This isn't on model for Kawaki. If you go back 1 chapter, he has a giant ass belt coming out of his jacket collar for some God forsaken reason. Looks like Ikemoto got rid of it. The inconsistencies of this art are fucking horrendous.

I also like how Delta is practically dislodging her hip in this panel. Is her ass really that big that she needs to stand like that? If so, WHY? Normally, I wouldn't care, but there's lore here. Delta is an android that Amado made modeled after his dead daughter. Did his daughter have that giant of an ass so much so Amado went through the painstaking re-creation of it? Why? That's just... weird.

It's supposed to be "futuristic".

I'm being sarcastic, of course. Amado himself always screamed, "young, hip and cool" with that horrendous hairstyle alone. Everything about the Manga (if I can even call it that at this point) is a massive case study of "trying too hard".

Man Naruto really is a tank isn't he? Just rewatch the chunin exams arc. He suffers blow after blow, most of which should've done him in, but takes it on the chin and gets right back up. Meanwhile his opponents usually get one shotted by him. Is it just plot armor is he seriously just that freakishly strong and durable compared to the other ninjas?

His cuts heal in literal seconds. That's not me exaggerating, that's what happens after his fight with Kiba and he thinks it's Hinata's ointment.

It's sad that Amado is the closest thing to an interesting character we have. Kashin Koji is just memberberry fan service. Kawaki lost all interesting factors when he became a villain for...reasons. Code became a joke getting clowned on. These antagonists suck.

Well, I guess. The punch he gives Neji goes through the fucking ground. I was never okay with how that fight ended. Like...How?! How do you even do that? How did Naruto dig the Jew tunnel? Maybe if Kishimoto bothered to make his arena for a NINJA test more interesting, he could've gotten away with this.

Would it also have been that hard for them to just do a "whoever stands up first wins" thing and just end this fight that way? That way Naruto's literal determination to never give up is what saves him when it really mattered. I feel like that would be better than Naruto burrowing himself underground like a mole.

It's something Plagueofgripes noted: the fights are written like a common pro wrestling scenario of "underdog gets beat up constantly but then wins with one good punch".

Does anyone else skip the flashbacks? They get really obnoxious during late shippuden (which is when I started skipping them).
"Oh finally that episode is over, now back to the main sto- GODDAMMIT NOT ANOTHER FLASHBACK EPISODE!"
Obito's backstory, Itachi's backstory, that goddamn swing..... they might as well be fillers. I don't care if they're listed in the canon section, I'm still skipping 70% of them. It would've been fine if it was just five minutes dedicated to them showing moments from a character's past, but holy crap they dedicate entire episodes to it.
I'm sure that swing gets more screentime that 80% of Konoha 11

No wonder Sasuke went with Orochimaru in the first place. His entire clan got slaughtered by his own brother who then forced him to relive that several times, and then Kakashi is here going "Dude you should just let him get away with it because revenge is le bad or something." And then later he finds out that the elders of the village he grew up in was the one who forced his brother to do all that stuff. Again they try to portray him as being in the wrong for wanting to enact revenge on the village after that. Maybe he did take it too far at times, but for the most part his reasons were fairly justifiable.

I wonder if Kishimoto or Studio Pierrot ever stopped to think about how gay the later intros of the series seemed. I mean almost every Shippuden intro had the camera panning in on Sasuke and then Naruto in a dim background with moody music playing over it. After a point I was thinking "Okay is this about Naruto getting his best friend back or about Naruto chasing after his gay crush?"

Another thing about the war arc is Madara's power level. Like they made him ridiculously overpowered (by Naruto Standards), didn't they? Strong enough to fold the 5 kage, strong enough to create shadow clones of the perfect Susanoo, strong enough to take on the all the tailed beasts without any vision, the mangekyo sharingan, and then a pair of rinnegan with a rinne sharingan in his forehead, the ten tails' power, the sage of six paths' power and also Hashirama cells.
I think he's soley to blame for the insane power creep in the series. They had to give Naruto and Sasuke literal Ninja Jesus powers just to keep up. And I don't even mean this in a good way. There is strong and there is "that one kid in the playground who kept making up bullshit rules" strong. Guess which one Madara falls into.

No, I'd chalk that up to multiple unforced errors and constant self-perpetuation and serial escalation. Itachi's probably the bigger culprit, with Amaterasu and especially Susano'o. When you establish that your rival-turned-evil has the power to pull chakra mechs from his eyeballs, you need to give everyone else who matters equivalent powerlevels to that. Hence the Izanagi, the bullshit regen of Hashirama cells, the Edo Tensei zombie army, and Kushina. Even Kishimoto seemed to realize that a bit, since Sasuke and Madara don't have the Totsuka Blade or Yata Mirror and Obito never uses Susano'o.

Edo Tensei Madara being complete bullshit should absolutely have been mitigated - don't give him the Rinnegan, don't make him able to create 25 wood clones each with Susano'o, don't have him pull out the meteor until Kabuto's been defeated, don't let him break the Edo Tensei contract and keep fighting anyways - but making him OP as hell is still managable given who he's going up against. They never revealed what his Mangekyo powers were, after all. The Five Kages should've barely won that fight by outlasting Kabuto and thus him (and also have Kabuto go down to something legitimate instead of Itachi pulling bullshit out of his ass, but then Itachi's everything is a issue far larger than the Ninja War), then bring him back after Obito's defeated by having Black Zetsu sacrifice both himself and Obito to use Gedou Rinne Tensei so Ten-Tails Madara can be the final boss.

That's been a thing for a LONG time. Forget Shippuden, look at the friggin filler arcs and the openings for those. Half of these openings/endings either allude to Sasuke and Naruto shipping or Sakura and Naruto shipping. The openings and endings are a mess. My personal favorite though is Hinata's opening during the Pain arc. Pain obliterates the village and then we have Hinata happily riding on a bike.

to show off his NEW AMAZING TECHNIQUE! which is just Resengan but bigger.
Not that this excuses the awfulness of forcing Naruto into InoShikaCho's battle, but he was being written as going down a spiral of failure until he realized he couldn't just punch people and expect them to change their ways like he'd started doing at VotE 1.

Still probably should've found a better place to show off the Rasenshuriken, but I like what he was going for there. He finally learns something that puts him on par with Sasuke and it comes at the risk of his own health.
i also liked how that new Resengan did damage to Naruto body and was told not to use it much, and its never brought up again.
You might've missed it, but he learned how to throw it during his sage training and showed that multiple times against Pein. After that he only ever used it in Sage mode or with the Kyuubi Cloak on.

Feels like that addressed it well enough. Why would it need to be brought up again?

Learning about Boruto through osmosis doesn't make it any less painful. I mean look at those character designs. You got an edgy punk that doesn't know how to use a belt and a little girl dressed like a whore as important characters.
And look at all these dumb names. Code, Delta Kashin Koji. How does Boruto exist?
If not for his own awful writing post-Pein Arc, I'd say Kishomoto is purposefully making as shitty a sequel as possible as a fuck you to SJ for forcing him to do it.

felt like he got an easy way negating the damage Rasenshuriken by simply mastering sage form (a form that Jiraiya spent his hole life training but never fully mastering it, while Naruto did in just a few days). then with Kyuubi, he throw nuke Resengans like they candy. cant remember if he even bothered naming those attacks.

I don't even know why they bothered with saying Rasenshuriken hurts Naruto. They literally give him an out the next chance they get. They could've just gone along with the "it's not completed yet" notion and ended it there. It's just loosely manufactured tension for no reason.
