Murder-accused put cat in blender, Oxford jury told

A CAT was allegedly ‘dissected and put in a blender’ by a woman standing accused of murder, a jury has heard.
Scarlet Blake, 25, is standing trial at Oxford Crown Court charged with the murder of Jorge Martin Carreno who was found dead at Parsons Pleasure, a popular bathing spot in Oxford, on July 25, 2021.
A trial has started today (February 7) with a 12-strong jury consisting of five woman and seven men.

The court heard that Mr Carreno was a Spanish man who was living and working in Oxford at the time.
It is the Crown Prosecution’s case that in the early hours of July 25, 2021, he met Blake on the streets of Oxford before she took his life.
Blake, of Crotch Crescent, Marston, has denied murder.
Opening the case, barrister Alison Morgan KC told the jury that Blake allegedly displayed an interest in ‘violence and death’ and received ‘sexual gratification’ from these thoughts.
She said one ‘obvious manifestation' of these interests was a video of Blake allegedly dissecting an animal.
“On March 21, 2021, a cat went missing from a family home,” she said.
"It went missing from a family home that happened to be on the same street as the defendant's address.

"It was a loved family cat having been adopted by a family from a rescue centre.
"The defendant's actions towards this cat showed planning, in particular the purchasing of equipment necessary to do what she wanted to do to this cat, and a fixation with what it would feel like to cause harm to a living thing.”
A cat crate and food was allegedly used to catch the animal. Ms Morgan said Blake then set up a live stream of her harming the cat and the username ‘Scarlet Blake’ appeared at the top of the video footage.
The video was 20 minutes long and Blake, according to Ms Morgan, said: "Here we go my little friend, oh boy you smell like s***, I can't wait [indistinguishable]...to put you through the blender."
Ms Morgan KC continues to say the cat is 'calm and alert to begin with', according to the vet.
A picture was shown to the jury of a hand with a white surgical glove and the cat in the background.
Ms Morgan said the cat was cut down the chest and abdomen. The vet commented that the cat 'did not respond' and he questioned whether it may have been sedated in some way.
"While this cat was alive and conscious, the defendant made incisions in it, opening up its chest and exposing its external organs," said Ms Morgan KC.

"When the cat began to panic and tried to get away...it gasped for air before its heart stopped."
She said Blake them removed the cat's eyes and skin. "She then did what she said she was going to do at the start of the video...she put the cat into a blender."
The trial continues.
