To be fair, I do think that if any troon had been in there they would have been shot, too. Not for being a woman (because they're men), but for being a faggot/degenerate. I don't think a shooter who kills women would be particularly fond of men who dress like women.

Of course Marc Lépine didn't ask to check their chromosomes or tried to ensure that all of the women in the room were "cis" women. Why would a misogynist mass shooter in the late 80s who never had studied or worked in a field related to social sciences be familiar with gender identity theory which at the time was only talked about in some strange academic circles at best? They're trying to turn it into an issue about whether he cared about what they identified as when he probably didn't know that there was such a thing as "identifying as a woman", even less equated being a woman with identifying as one.
What we do know is that he hated women enough to go on a shooting spree targeting them specifically, so he must have had some idea about what a woman was. It probably went something along the lines of the now declared as bigoted dictionary definition. If there had been a trans woman in the class room (which is extremely unlikely as back then the media and the coroner would have reported the sex of the deceased without exception) and Lépine had shot him thinking he was female, that wouldn't have been because he cared about what the person identified as but because he had thought he was the kind of individual he hated.
Saying that Lépine's hatred of women or misogyny in general can't be attributed to biological sex because he couldn't check the chromosomes or chromosomes weren't discovered before the 19th century is a bit like saying that people were unaware of the Sun's existence for a long time because they didn't understand what caused it to shine. Sure, they might not have known it was a star or thought it was some kind of almighty God, but they were aware of its existence nevertheless and formed their own ideas about it. For the same reasons, chromosomes only being discovered in the 19th century didn't stop practices like female infanticide or menstruation huts from arising long before that.

I find this beyond irritating. Asking for irrefutable proof that the women killed were biological women? When people are murdered there are autopsies. Autopsies reveal the genitalia of the victims. The victims had vaginas. Actual vaginas not neo-ones, because people with medical training can tell the difference. Never mind other evidence from the families etc. I'm even more irritated because I'm sitting here unpacking this idiocy and wasting the valuable time that I could be using to shitpost (unless this counts).
Also, to add - whether they were ciswomen is irrelevant - they were targeted because of biological sex (or at the very least, the appearance of belonging to that sex). If they were trans, they would have been transmen, in any case.

Imagine your loved one being gunned down by a man for being a woman and then having a man insinuate that maybe they weren't really a woman after all. Can't Ogre just let the victims rest in peace? Does he have to drag their corpses through the mud to try to make a political point? If one of them had been trans, trust me we would know about it. The media would have reported on it.
