Does it still run like shit on the PC?
Of course, it'll never not run like shit on PC. And yet the game sold better on PC than PlayStation and Xbox (combined iirc). Companies don't optimize even when they say it's a priority, it has a higher chance at getting better than DD2 but that's only because it's retardedly, impossibly popular. It got an update recently so those numbers are even higher.

Mizu's pretty fun, it' feels significantly updated from Rise. There's enraged bubbles that are shot faster than normal radial ones which was surprising, the water jet feels easier to dodge, I haven't seen a horizontal wide sweep yet. It's footwork seems different so it's refreshing. The aesthetic is still dumb, "soapy dragon" is such a strange concept and I don't know why people like it, but I'm partial to yellow sponge dragon from Tri so I'm probably weird there. It's just a strange first update choice to me. All the pink blades catching light at just the right angle is a nice touch to the weapons.

Canteen not having meals for cash is strange, they've really made eating a strange chore this game. I farmed up a large stash of kunafa cheese and eastern honey but I should be able to just drop cash for a basic hour meal. Other grand hub features are nice, the vibe is okay. I will never not laugh at the giant old man baby that sits there.

It improved somewhat for me. I've had maybe 5 crashes across 200 hours, but it seems smoother post-patch.

I'm actually really pleased with Mizu. The fight is as fun as it's ever been, maybe even more imo. I think he basically turns into Soulseer when he enrages too, which is cool.
He looks fucking fantastic, easily one of the best looking monsters in the game and one of best "glow ups" as well. His armor is a set I've just never cared for unfortunately, but the weapons are still absolutely sick as.
Only thing that drags him down a little is it just would have been so much better to have him in the base game. I think he's gonna be the HR wall for new players. If BubbleBlight wasn't so easy to negate, like every other status, he'd be a controller smasher for noobs 100%.

Zoh is like Xeno for me. Great looking monster, great spectacle, but the fight waffles between mid to okay at best. Weapons look fantastic but I'm not too keen on the armor. Idk where the weird little tentacles are coming from. I dont notice them on Zoh itself.

Mods would be my guess. Mods to alleviate any sort of grind and to stroke fragile egos by getting impossible arena times, specifically. There were quite a few 0's posted on the leaderboard times last i checked. And of course Mods to goon over Gemma/Alma. Can't even pretend it's a PC Master Race thing since it seems they've been fucked the hardest by performance issues.

Something that still pisses me off is how big of a role swarming and alpha monsters played into the marketing, only for the game to release and there's a grand total of 3 swarming monsters, two of which are fillerest of filler trashmons, and the only alpha is alpha dosh, which had the non-alpha versions turned into nerfed shitmon versions of itself, with alpha just being the real fight.

It's funny to me that the best pack fight I've had is still the time when I got ganked by like 3 rathian and a rathalos, because my target ran to an area with two other Rath who then proceeded to call in the big guns to protect the harem. Pure chaos. And the Raths aren't even pack monsters. This just happened organically because of the multiple spawns and the reinforcement mechanic the raths have.

But the monsters we're introduced to as a pack fail the role completely. I can't remember the last time I saw non-alpha Doshu, the balahara don't do anything pack related after the intro, I almost never see a Flock of Kut-Ku thanks to all the other shit the forest is full of(seriously over crowded map), and the Monkey's are just shadows of what they used to be. They might as well not even have the regular blango/conga since all they do is stand on the sidelines and posture.

Just reeks of more stuff that was half baked to meet arbitrary deadlines and to streamline the experience for the shitters they desperately want approval from.

Not too sure about that, mods are not hugely popular no matter how easy it is to install. Was like that in World, probably Rise, probably here. Not that many people would buy Wilds just for mods, especially if it's probably harder to mod compared to older games. Doubt many people will cheat the arena either, of course some will but that's less than 1%. Last I checked there aren't that many mods, let alone mods worth buying Wilds with all its issues, though I could be wrong. Normies are...something else.

Exactly, what in the World (hehe) are people thinking?

I still can't fathom what pushes someone to excuse all the shit Capcom did this time...

I even found this gem of a channel:

Blunty

(Youtube)
(Twitch)
(Bluesky) < because of course lmao

Funny guy! My guess is that mr grandpaman old bones assumed Wilds was gonna be a total internet phenomenon and would for suuure get him to blow up and become some rich internet superstar.
He made gems like:

It is quite a find and I'm surprised this guy doesn't have a thread, the forced smug persona while obviously seething and hating his life is classic lolcow energy at its best.
Specially when you find that shortly after Wilds came out and his channel did in fact NOT blow up and the game was understood to be a rushed unfinished mess he did this:

I Need Help. This Will Kill Me. No Monster Hunter Can Beat This Monster

Fucking top tier e-begging content with the cherry on top of "I wanna kill myself, I'm autistic and depressed, my channel is dead an I'm so broke :'("

Now on the topic of the game, TU1 makes this shit feel a bit more finished, like this how it was meant to release, if you want a bit of a performance boost after the update delete your shaders in the steam folder and let the new version of the game recompile shaders after you launch it, it's worth a try.

I'm gonna go on a limb and say this was a blessing in disguise. Or do you really want to have to apply pack separation tactics every time you want to hunt a specific critter? I think this shit is neato torpedo the first couple of times, but the 20th time you need to throw shit bombs at everything that is in the way it can only become a mess. Pack hunts only work if they are truly an active part of the fight. They have honestly mostly sucked for the longest time. I find no difference with some Jaggi sucker punching me while fighting a Great Jaggi or fighting a Rathalos, now if they fought with actual pack tactics it could be neat.

On other topics, just took out the Fateful Four in low rank. Astalos I already knew from Risebreak, went first after it to get a new switchblade, managed to cart to it on one of my attempts and took me 4 kills to get all of the pieces, but for now the sword is doing work and seems easy to upgrade just needing some gore magala parts. Misu I still love though it seemed pretty easy since it's the friendly bubbles. Gammoth was also pretty easy to handle, though I've already been told to look forward to it's beefed up GRank version, it did hit like a fucking truck when it connected. And well Glavenus, this was my first time and it was awesome, I did go the coward's way by trapping instead of killing, but the fucking thing really had me on the ropes. Did manage to get a hype moment where I did an aerial style leap into it's face while it was sharpening and had it get stunned and to the ground from that. Also, as a happy extra, there is another switchax I can make from him.

Still enjoying my time with it, no real HARD walls and outside me wanting to upgrade weapons here and there, haven't felt the need yet to grind a monster into oblivion to do a full set.

Also, fuck Khezu, TKD.

Honestly, I think Great Izuchi had better pack tactics and mechanics than anything in wilds. Your response though hints at some of the more core issues with wilds and capcom as a whole. If your first thought at a heavily marketed and promised feature being half baked and under delivered is "I'm glad they lied, they would have made it suck anyways", is that really a sign of a healthy franchise?

Yeah, GU probably has the easiest (pre 5th gen) low rank, aside from portable 3rd, aside from the 4 low rank deviants. It almost feels balanced as though they were expecting people to run a random weapon, style, and art combo every single hunt and go into it barely knowing what they're doing other than the basics of the series itself, so if you're even moderately competent with your weapon and are trying out some of the arts, it won't be difficult at all. Luckily, high rank is a rather immediate change of pace. Most monster hunters have a point where the game really picks up and kicks into gear, I'd say low rank Glavenus is that point for GU. For comparison, 4U's is somewhere around the low rank Nerscylla/Najarala area, tri's is Barroth, world's really doesn't happen until some of the title update stuff, or honestly all the way to Barrioth if you skip straight into iceborne as soon as you can, rise's is probably high rank Magnamalo, and wilds' arguably hasn't happened yet.

What do you think the Wilds' wall be? One of the TU updates, or all the way till the next xpac? That they didn't drop or hint any elder dragons thus far feels extremely deliberate, though.

Maybe it’s just a new game, new controls sort of issue, but I noticed that there’s some sort of “latency” with almost everything in this game compared to Rise, World, and everything before it.

Also no amount of “it is what it is” will ever convince me that this isn’t the worst any of the knockdown states has ever felt. The “knocked back then bouncing off the ground” animation is the worst shit I’ve ever fucking seen.

Like in the RE4 remake where instead of the character immediately stopping, they slow to a halt instead, or did you mean something else?

That. I saw a few quirks like that.

I know Capcom wanted all the animations to become more natural with Wilds, but it feels to me at least like they went a step too far. In the older games, I had a better sense of what kind of knockdown I was in, or exactly what i could get away with doing.
