Finally in High Rank. Took ~ 20 hours, but I didn't do a ton of site seeing or farming. Only a few mons had sets I immediately farmed for and they were Rey, Ark, G. Rathalos, G. Ebony Odo, Hirabami, and Uth Duna.

Story was more vague than Worldborn at times, but also gave more backstory for the world than anything else they've done, which is neat. Seems like they're basically just canonizing that gay ass Equal Dragon Weapon concept with the artificial monsters, and the Wyvern Milk feels like they quietly retconned the bio-energy shit from World. Was fun seeing giant Wyverians again.

Other than the fire octopus, I've actually really enjoyed every single new monster so far. Particularly Jin, Ark and Uth. Even Nercylla because in a world like MonHun, a "regualr" giant spider really stands out in a good way. Kinda helps grounds the setting, especially when they've always tried to make the wildlife feel somewhat believable.
I also feel like we're a cunt hair away from getting swimming back. I want it.

Overall I'd give it a solid 8 so far.

Armors don't usually start looking different until Master/G Rank, other than minor color changes High Rank typically differs in the higher stats, skills and slots. Beta & Alpha sets just take that further. But you seem to just be mad for the sake of it.

Tone is easy to miss on the internet, especially with my colorful language. I said it was amusing, which is it, I'm more annoyed at the palico voice than the hunter defying physics. And yes, the hunters do that, quite often, no shit. However I still find it stupid how a basic flop on the hammock can send that cat flying like that, if that's the case the hammock shouldn't even hold his weight. Also, using such powerful weaponry against powerful creatures is not at all comparable to that clip, again my post was made mostly in jest and I was more """pissed""" about the palico voice change, seriously what is that? Anyway, that comparison was irrelevant and retarded.

Again it's plebbit, you can't go against the hivemind without getting obliterated off the subreddit. Recording footage and sharing it has never been easier these days, especially with the recent steam update, but astroturfing is at an all time high so good luck getting anyone genuine on that site unless it's the popular and approved opinion (because jannies have deleted posts that were the popular opinion but made what their jannies of look back).

Truly I wish they went more into the this thing, I've always wanted to know more about the old Dragon War and whatnot. Now that would be an interesting spin-off if done right.

They're not bad, but they're probably some of the most boring (new) designs I've seen in a while, but some are pretty good. I haven't seen all of them since I can't find clean pictures of them all but from what I've seen they're just...eh.

Unsurprised, they got a bit lazy with World but still had some great armor designs, now they're pushing how lazy they can make it.

I want to believe, I really do. But I also don't want to see it butchered so you know what, better they keep it away.
 
I like the game a lot so far; the walk and talk sections on your Chocobo are okay, but mostly because I spend most of my time treating it like a rail shooter trying to catch every dam endemic life I can. The story is okay overall.

The gunlance feels improved, and the two wyrnes fire feels good, but what I like most is the perfect guard and the power clash. I know it is not unique for the gunlance, but it feels so good when it happens and helps to define the weapon type. I have yet to put time into the hammer and hunting horn, but I will after I am in high rank.

Also, I think I spent an hour making my palico. And anyone who is using human-like voices on the police is a coward, and I hate you.

Lastly, whoever made the food animations has a very specific fetish. It's like when an artist draws super detailed and perfect feet. You know they have a thing.

Those are Wyverians, they've been pretty prominent throughout the series though you've never really been able to play as one. To be honest I find the 4 fingers and bird feet to be really gross and offputting.

Define plot as MH only vaguely ever had one until Word.
They are the other major race in the series and are basically elves, except they don't look down on humans. They are attune with nature, live longer, but they have weird body sizes as they can be dwarf size, normal, or tall.
They have been guild masters, village heads, researchers, fellow hunters, and so on.

So it’s more World where the designs are phoned in. I swear every GS was just a Valkyrie Blade with some feathers and cat teeth stapled to it

Weapons are actually solid, they all have unique designs. At least they listened to that criticism. But, the alpha and beta sets for HR armor are the same designs, only difference is the skills on them.

Ah good. That still sucks when they phone in the armor, grinding for badass armor is like the carrot that’s supposed to keep you going

First they removed the MH language now Palicos no longer meow at me! Next you'll tell me they will no longer steal items or try to suicide bomb me while I am fighting a monster OG games just keep winning.

Nothing like having your charge interrupted or your trap stolen to make you forget about the monster and start a jihad against all small monsters who wronged you.

I will never forgive them for continuing to reuse the slap-on designs for World's returning monsters, they look so awful and the monsters deserve way better. The few unique designs are really good (Odogaron dual blades are fantastic) and I want to see that translated to the other weapon classes.
