Shout out to the Hunting Horn mains. You guys are the only Hunters I'll join up with, across all games, when I get the itch for co-op hunts.

It's not a thankless weapon.

Been catching up on the thread and news about the game this week. If I understand it right, Monster Hunter Wilds:

-Has a greater focus on narrative
-Has a greater focus on player mobility
-Is easier / more casual than previous entries
-Allows the player to switch between weapons mid-hunt, e.g. from melee to ranged
-Allows the player to bring NPC hunters on solo hunts

So basically Monster Hunter has become God Eater.

I've got a 1070 and running it on the lowest settings. Looks like shit but runs fine. An important thing is to make sure you turn that AI generated frame thing off. That destroys your framerate and really looks like shit.

I was able to lay my kid down for a nap and hop on. So far I havent actually gotten to play. I am not thankful for the move towards trying to have a more cinematic expiernece.
edit: performance from the beta is head and shoulders better though. I have a 2080 and im running it mostly on high hanging in the 50-60fps. I feel like a lot of people complaining about performance didn't grow up having to actually change settings to get things to run lol. Its not ideal but this is definately an improvement from the beta.

I am in no hurry to play the game. Gonna wait for the obligatory expansion pack that will fix and fuck things up in a balanced manner. Wanted to play some older MonHun games anyway, and Wilds will be complete in like two years and cheaper. So no rush.

Same here. I see no reason to shell out £60 on a poorly optimised game when I can still boot up Generations Ultimate or Rise and get my Monster Hunter fix; not to mention I've not fully gotten everything out of Rise yet. All I need to do is wait a year or two, and I pay less for a better experience.

I played the Beta and could not get over how shit it looks and runs on powerful hardware. It looks worse than World. It's like playing a fucking PS3 game in 2025.

I'm so sick of upscaled muddy slop and shitty PC ports.

Did it get any better on release compared to the last Beta?

I’ll probably just replay Rise until it gets optimized (if ever), because I know my clock potato PC isn’t going to have it.

Steam Deck is said to be a no-go too.

I really don’t understand why optimization isn’t prioritized in gaming anymore. It’s not like people are asking for every building you see to be enterable, or some other irrelevant thing. It’s literally just “I want to run this game on decent/era relevant hardware”.

It's worse apparently, a lot of the negative Steam reviews are dudes saying the beta was fine but the full game runs like dogshit on their rigs.

The demo (fuck you, making your demo always online and time-gating it to trick gullible and impulsive normalfags who get one-shot by the slightest whiff of FOMO doesn't make it a beta) didn't have denuvo, nether did the benchmark. The actual release does. That's often minus 15-20 fps on its own.

I have grown tired of Capcom doing the cycle of building good will, abusing the good will they built up, and then having to build up good will again.
What's funny is Monster Hunter was also the franchise that stayed pretty safe even during their horrible eras.

Digital Foundry is cooking the awful performance of this game.

Look at these fucking textures and why are there dialogue trees in a Monster Hunter game?
