Nah, it is because it is a monster hunter.
The game could have mandatory gay sex scenes before each hunt, and it would still sell a metric fuck ton, but still, almost a million on Steam alone is a LOT, and the primary platform people tend to play on is Consoles.
This is world 2, and despite world releasing on steam late, it was the majority of sales. This is just what happens when world 2 releases day and date on its most popular platform.

Been watching someone stream it for 2 hours. so far, its only been like 2 hunts and rest are cutscenes.

Oh yes, i would like to know more about the savage peoples food and culture rather then hunting monsters.

Considering very few games are even worth buying anymore, I still don't see the big deal with buying one of these big deal games every now and then.
"With all this literal fecal matter on your plate, it's no big deal to eat one of piles of shit." How about, uh, fucking no? Is...is not consuming obvious garbage this hard? I know the answer but c'mon now.
I recall every ps2 game being like $80 or more, whereas today even AAA releases aren't always $60.
Around $50, where did you get $80 from? I mean maybe in third world countries or special editions, in which you would be correct. They raised it once but that was like...five extra dollars, and only for a short while probably because people thought that was retarded...how far we've fell. Even PS3 averaged around $60.
It's also odd how, especially with franchises that get very few games, people are so opposed to new entries. "I may've owned all previous 9 games but THIS one I won't be buying!!!!".
No shit, it's having standards. If the new entries were good I wouldn't shit on them.
>Wow this new entry is shit, I'm not buying that
>Y-you just don't like new entries you oldfag!

Yeah, because they suck. Niggercattle behavior.
I won't have a day off for like 4 days after its release, but I honestly don't even think I'll sit down and play it for even 3 hours in a row. I almost fear having to make a hunter, knowing it pays fucking money to redo it.
Yeah that hunter voucher shit is retarded but so easy to cheat at least.
On the other hand, MHGU is ready to play, I just need to add the texture and 60fps mods.
I remember doing similar stuff with PSP games on its emulator, while I do prefer how it originally runs it's nice to tune it up a little sometimes. There's a guide on plebbit if anyone is interested.
People don't shut the fuck up about aerial Great Sword
I hear more people talk about Valor Great Sword than aerial, but I can see the appeal from what little I used that style on any weapon.
the CPU/Denuvo boogieman
Now they put two DRM or whatever the fuck protection!
And Rise easily ran at higher settings at 100+ fps.
Mostly because-credit given-they focused on gameplay (as meh as it was for me) and art direction rather than "muh graphical fidelity" and shit. On one hand, it looks a "worse" than World (honestly sometimes it looks like it could've been for 3DS before they went "fuck it" and made it a switch game), on the other hand I'm not a zoomer so I don't care, art direction is far more impactful.
it's the complete culling of "turn off the excess and max textures/shadows" culture. Fake frames, AI scaling, all to get 30 fps on medium 1080p.
Literal band-aid, remember when "Russian Bioshock" just slapped DLSS and called it a day and people gave them shit for it? I don't see many people complaining about it with Wilds sadly, the opposite in fact like @verymuchawful said:
It doesn't help that there's cocksucking, sweeping content creators toting the built-in frame gen and Lossless Scaling as some sort of fix for this shit performance.
Though to be "fair" with Atomic Heart, they don't have a team of people sweeping anyone that breaths wrong for them, they mostly just have coomers ripping the models for the twins for porn.

(Pokke has the best theme)
Wrong (it is good though). Was going to post Tri's but I got beaten to it, so have a suite.
112 hours to go through Low/High Rank, HR3 hub, and some grinding for gear.
Wildfags on suicide watch with how much content this game has.
Game hasn't even been out an hour on Steam and it's already close to cracking the million player mark. It's amazing what not actively antagonizing and chiding your customer base can do for a game's success.

Nevermind God DAMN that's a lot of people, it's about to break 1mil: 1740735815132.png
That's a lot of melting PCs. The reviews aren't doing so hot, the negatives are what you'd expect with shitting on the performance (and the clown awards that follows). Some even remembered the shitshow that was DD2:

Positive reviews are what you'd expect this early too, meme reviews to farm awards for being first since they can't glaze the game so soon.
apparently they have private servers for Tri working in Dolphin.
Kind of, it's pretty much an alpha from what I last saw but that was a while ago, it seems to be much better. Much as it pains me to say this, the feelings I've had when the official servers were up will never return and it'll probably kill me to try and make new memories. It's not the same is what I'm getting at, but maybe it'll be good regardless?

The game looks like shit and runs like shit. You want good performance? Have fun with the DLSS ghosting the fucking brown kids hair constantly.
Between that, the ridiculously easy difficulty and the excessive babying of the player, it's a damn shame. There's something somewhat passable here (I'm really enjoying this version of the Charge Blade) but it's buried under Capcom's incompetence.
You're actively castrating yourself if you buy it in it's current state, and I'm saying that as someone who could afford wasting money on it.
EDIT: I will admit, I had way too much fun creating this monstrosity.

Capcom is out of their fucking MINDS if they think I'll give them $70 for anything. I wouldn't piss on a Capcom exec if he was on fire and I hadn't seen a bathroom in 16 hours.

You think with Capcom being well aware that Monhun is one or their biggest franchises they'd at least pretend to optimize the fucking game.

We all knew it would release with a ton of missing features and light on content and slowly get drip fed to us over the next year+ until the expansion came out, which is stupid but consistent with them.

But they couldn't even make this dumpsterfire run correctly on Console, which is usually their primary focus no matter how well Steam sells.

I'll wait six months and get it for $40 after they unfuck the frame rate.

Double post because that first post is too long.

Tri/3U OST has vibes and atmosphere to burn, but I always much prefer my achingly nostalgic JRPG style ”you never have to leave here, we all love you, stay forever” music

Ignoring the performance problems and my issues with certain gameplay aspects, their insane desire to have a focus on a story is so fuckin' lame and a waste of dev time (and mine).
I've played for two hours and fought a whopping two monsters that I massacred in mere minutes because they're low rank fodder. In between those fights I've listened to shit dialogue with characters that never shut the fuck up with MMO tier quest design such as "go here talk to this person" and "go here talk to this person". INCREDIBLE

The lead up to these fights being so rail-roaded with your auto-move horse seikret as you follow NPCs like I'm playing a Rockstar game. The same persists when you're not on your seikret as you're forced to follow more NPCs that never shut the fuck up.

Who honestly wants a story in Monster Hunter? I just wanna hunt monsters in a comfy atmosphere. The only things I wanna hear on a hunt is nature, the monsters, and the sound of my hunter getting punted across the arena.

Capcom lost the plot as soon as they added actual spoken dialogue and cutscenes. There never should have been real world languages in Monster Hunter. You play any of the classic Monster Hunters, there's not a cinematic human-focused cutscene in sight. Just the initial monster cutscenes the first time you face them, and the little preview you get of a new map you hadn't been to yet. Admittedly the newbie stages of classic Monster Hunter games are incredibly lonely in that regard, But it'd always be worth it once you started facing actual monsters regularly and getting better gear. Somehow in current year, we still have the slow boring start of classic Monster Hunter, killing level decoration baby monsters, coupled with on rails cutscenes and non-stop yapping to serve as some sort of hook and retard tutorial for people that don't even play Monster Hunter games.

Frame generation does wonders but the fact it uncaps your FPS? I wanna do what I can to sit at 60 fps with high settings but it's pushing into 120 instead, meaning I dip a lot.

Something about the game just feels off. Like, every single character has that boomer pause tiktok yapped on about some time ago. A character appears in a scene, 1.5 seconds later they talk. New character; 1.5 seconds, reply.

I played World then Rise then MHGU. The older and more basic the game, the better. This shit is so.. mushy. So free-flowing and dense looking. I'm losing frames off of things I don't want. Anyway, can't decide on a weapon. HBG is the most appealing only cause the others feel fucking yank. I hate wounds and I hate mantles and they're both here.

Sorry chuddies before you you are allowed to hunt the monster you must listen to this random brown women npc you don't give a single fuck about spout wubba dub dub Mortaaaay! dialogue for some fucking reason.

It's pretty telling that the only characters I even remotely like about come from older games, Fabius (Ace Lancer from 4) and Gemma (Little Miss Forge... also from 4), it's probably just my nostalgia speaking though.

Like I legitimately couldn't care less about this borderline suicidal tribe of bird riders who don't even know what weapons are, but I'm forced to interact with them because "muh story."
I cared more about making my shitty gigachad meme character than I did about Baljeet and his shitty lost tribe.

So far game runs fine for me, some pop-in issues but that's in camp only atm. Loving the non-beta monsters I've seen, particularly the spider and Leviathan. Conga whooped my ass for a bit which was funny. The cockatrice is a pretty cool first Brute.

Armor and weapons look fuckin slick as hell, not sure how I feel about weapons having inbuilt skills though. Already having some speed sharpening on my LS this early, on top of the mounted sharpening, trivializes the mechanic. So that's a bummer. But that's about the only gripe I've got so far.

Shout out to the Hunting Horn mains. You guys are the only Hunters I'll join up with, across all games, when I get the itch for co-op hunts.

New style of FOMO unlocked: Having to play Monster Hunter after they remove Denuvo, but before the expansion where they put it back and tank performance again.

Ironically the game would be so much better if it wasn't dense as shit with 50 AI layers of foliage and dust particles.

Anyway: Quite happy that you can auto-add 1-3 npcs to your hunts. Fuck rolling around in the dirt telling myself "I'm such a heckin good hunter this souls-hard game is real kino!"

Despite a myriad of issues, I did enjoy World. But looking at Wilds, I am in no hurry to play the game. Gonna wait for the obligatory expansion pack that will fix and fuck things up in a balanced manner. Wanted to play some older MonHun games anyway, and Wilds will be complete in like two years and cheaper. So no rush.
