Humanity thrives so goddamn hard there's a Guild set up specifically to keep people from hunting monsters willy nilly to extinction, and this has been the case since the very first game. They even have executioners who hunt rogue hunters/poachers. We've been murdering Elder Dragons since day one. FATALIS is literally the final boss of the Hub in MH1. I really don't know where you pulled this from.
In MHFU, killing your first Tigrex had everyone (including the veteran hunter in town who bailed you out at the start of the game) go "holy shit, how are you alive?". In the first MH game, killing a Monoblos marked you as an elite hunter. This achievement is how the Kokoto Village Chief was granted permission to hunt down a Lao-Shan Lung (possibly the same one you ended up against), and failed miserably with a party of five veteran hunters, which highlighted how much you repelling/killing Lao-Shan was an achievement. People really underestimate how overpowered and influent playable hunters may have grown to become canonically, and how it may have led to the Guild growing in size and influence to the point they sent expeditions out to uncharted areas of the world over the generations.

The Fatalis quest in the first game literally had you pay your hunting infrastructure out of pocket, possibly because the Guild didn't want to splash cash and manpower on your imminent suicide. They basically gave you permission to kill the thing just to see if you were mad enough to succeed. It really felt like humanity was on the defensive, and the Guild was specifically set up to avoid having the wrong people piss off living, breathing nukes and have a repeat of whatever happened before instead of being about "muh ecology". That shit's a retcon born from 5th-6th gen moralfaggotry to justify you scoring yourself some sweet Lunastra drip.

Whatever new spergery.

Playing Stories now, jumping between them all. Mostly 3 since thats the one that grabbed me.

I really enjoy one. It's charming and cute, but the Navi cat makes me wanna kill myself. He's annoying and ugly and has gross human hands. I hate him.
2 feel weird. Can't place it still like it well enough. Navi is even worse.

3 I really like. Only things I'd complain about so far is how lame the flying is in the overworld, at least let me hover above the ground/water, its a Rathalos for Gog's sake.
The double kinship attacks are kinda whack. The ones I've seen so far seem to be animated with the assumption you're using the Rath or matching with your partner with no in-between. So a lot of these attacks look like ass when doubled, but that's when I usually end up seeing them. Rough. Oh yeah and Rudy is an annoying faggot too. Just give me a normal palico. Even the Nips can't like these things that much.

I can feel my tism tingling with how easy the egg shit is now.

The biggest joy in a new MH game is seeing what kind of late-game monster is now a rank 2 shitter. Then again, that's ignoring the fact 90% of monsters are reused assets and fans actively applaud it. I swear gaming in general has just sunk in quality to the point it's all remasters, flipped assets and minimal efforts, and MH basically built a franchise around that ahead of time.

Too bad the wacky monsters will always be low rank. Gotta fill the late game with those insta-gib wyverns.

Humans being on the bottom of the food chain either got retconned or technology was advanced to a point where hunting monsters wasn't considered super dangerous. Either way the power fantasy of slapping monsters silly in a sub 5-10 minite run is too fun and capcom probably just put that in the lore.🤷🏻‍♂️

do you just not like the series or something? Or are you just now realizing that monster hunter has been the same game slightly tweaked for 20 years? Every post is just about how the games are shit and gaming is shit and how it all sucks.

It was never retconned because that's literally never been implied at any point in the games. If humanity was on the bottom of the foodchain we wouldn't have a guild that actively regulates hunting and who can be a hunter since the very first game in the series.
People are literally just making shit up based on how they personally felt while playing and projecting that onto the series itself. Nothing in any game going back to MH1 has ever implied anything other than humans getting on just fine or even thriving.

Irrespective of lore and flavor text the rankings they place monsters in tend to be pretty consistent. I looked into it while writing this post and was shocked to find that out. My problem with it to a great degree is that they keep sending you to parts unknown and still make you fight so many of the same monsters. Tri was fairly good about that. World had plenty of new monsters, though most felt like reskins.

Ill never understand people who claim theyve never used a weapon before in their lives, but then decided to switch on a whim and the weapon is actually so braindead they're breaking PRs left and right.
Yeah man, I'm sure you got those LS counter timings down in training mode, totally werent the retard getting stuffed and wasting your Spirit Gauge. I'm sure you know the optimal spacing for your TCS and bow range in a single hunt. You're the bonk master Supreme who never leaves the monsters face and always keeps them stunned despite never playing hammer before.

Silly shit.

What do you guys think of the various weapons in Monster Hunter? And why is the LBG the best?

The only correct weapon and they ruined it in new slop of Wilds.

So ive pretty much done most of whats available in Rise/Sunbreak, and i still crave me some MH... Was thinking of getting Wilds, but judging by this and it's own thread, it might be better to get another title... Which should i go for? World?

Was also considering emulating the very first game on PS2 to see how it all began, does it hold up today?

Maybe I could convince you to dip your toes into some water?

I played some MH3U recently, to see what's different compared to MHTri. It's actually quite a bit: while it's been well over a decade since I had my wii to play MHTri, I put like 3000 hours into that shit and I fucking swear it had a drastically different order of monsters and areas unlocked, and I'm sure 3U is significantly easier than Tri was. Not complaining about either of those things, to be clear.

Also, if this is how most people experienced water combat for the first time, I can understand now why people hate it so much. 3U swimming controls like absolute ass compared to Tri with a Pro Controller -- the only significant change is that Tri had dedicated dodge up/down buttons that made it WAAAAAY more responsive and convenient, but 3U has got rid of those and made water dodging work almost the same as on land, much to its detriment. I still have muscle memory pop off in combos and I go to hit dodge buttons that do other things now.

EDIT: I'd still kinda recommend 3U, just keep in mind it uses oldschool weapon movesets, which means combos are short, very janky, and missing a few attacks compared to later games.

  • Great swords are the second ultimate weapon for just wanting to unga bunga a motherfucker, they're also paradoxically the most strategic to use due to their long wind-ups, swining, and recovering. 9/10
  • Long swords are fun and have gotten a lot of flair over the years, outside of most LS users being braindead they're one of the most fun weapons and make you feel like a God when used right. Despite my complaints with later MH games, World has my favorite variant of the weapon and arguably the best period. 8/10.
  • Sword and Shield use to be my least favorite, mostly because I sucked at it and I preferred the more extreme weapons, but the fast attack, decent damage, ability to block at all, ability to help KO monsters, the infusions, it just became a lot more appealing over time. Will I pick it over any other weapon in a serious hunt? Lol no. Will I pick it for shits and giggles, damn right. 7/10
  • Dual Blades shred like crazy, the dash is cool as hell and the demon mode is a neat mechanic. No blocking means you actually have to try to use your brain, shorter but faster dodging due to it's special mechanic means tighter windows and more precise timing (or more dodge spam), and they sometimes get two attributes (like Snow Venom). And they look damn cool when used properly. 9/10.
  • Hammers, the ultimate in unga bunga, just swing the fucker and KO monsters to death. 10/10.
  • Hunting Horn my beloved, a pretty unique weapon and you're a faggot if you don't at least like someone else using it if you don't use it. 10/10
  • Lance is just...eh. The charge is the best part, the counter is neat but honestly that's all it has going for it to me. If you want to be a wall, go for it. 5/10. World did some fun stuff with it at least.
  • Gunlance is largely similar but switches some mechanics for shelling and some cool combos. The heat mechanic is interesting too since you have to balance maximum heat for maximum damage while not going overboard and overheating. Plus the wyvern fire is devastating and stick as hell. 7/10.
  • Switch Axe is a combo and damage machine, the sword form's burst attack sold me completely when I first tried it 8/10. You can tell by the shorter text that I'm realizing I should probably keep it short.
  • Don't care for Insect Glaive but I will say it's the most unique (mainline) weapons in the game, also one of the more complex ones in terms of optimizing but fuck that, I just pick the coolest Kinsect and stack stamina/speed then just mount spam. 7/10.
  • Charge Blades are a filter for retards, it's not complicated at all and anyone struggling with it is just pathetic. It takes a moment to learn the controls but after that it's pretty simple, just time your burst properly and maybe learn those "perfect guards" or whatever and you're golden. I prefer exhaust for KO spam. 8/10.
  • Don't care for the Light Bowgun, it's definitely good and one of the best weapons if you know what you're doing but I'm a caveman who prefers heavy hitters. 7/10
  • Heavy Bowgun for T&H men and women. Is it worse than the LBG meta wise? Probably. But we're God damn Hunters, you will carry the comically sized weapons and like it faggot. HBG/10.
  • Medium bowguns don't exist, no I'm not coping that they took away customizable bowguns.
  • The Bow is...interesting. I missed it back in Tri but still rarely found myself using it. Definitely good for people who want more simple ranged weapons. 7/10.
  • The Tonfa and Magnet Spikes are goofy and I'm glad they're Frontier exclusive since it can only fit in the madness that is Frontier. Frontier/10.
  • Don't know anything about the Accel axe but it looks cool. Dunno/10.

How is Monster Hunter Stories 3? I'm mildly curious about the series but have never taken the plunge. Is 2 worth playing and how does it stack compared to the latest Digimon for example?

Haven't played that Digimon game but it looks more like an apples and oranges comparison, 2 is pretty fun and 3 looks like it would be worth trying.

Started watching some videos to practice Hammer and SnS, and come on... All of these niggers use female Hunters? If there's anything ive learned about gendered avatars is that a man using a female one is more likely than not a sexual deviant.

Even if the models were attractive, theyre going to be under heavy armor most of the time anyways...

They're nothing like Digimon. Stories plays more like a modern pokemon game, but instead of catching pokemon you get gacha eggs by doing very short mini dungeons. The story is brain dead and intrusive. It's clearly made for children about 10 years old. The combat system is fun since it's rock/paper/scissors and you get bonuses from matching your monsters attacks. Always have an AI companion with you who is usually decent but will have specific match up weaknesses.

They are solid games. But it's hard to finish them because they're repetitive and the story is undercooked. I've put 10 hours into the original and the 2nd one each and I enjoyed them but I never felt like going back to them. The animations and combat systems cool. But it's a modern JRPG so it will not stop cock blocking you so the cat side kick can make some marvel puns.

If you could tolerate CS/TS's story without being a hardcore digimon fan you are probably going to enjoy stories. If you can't then maybe skip it.

Are there any monster hunter youtube channels that aren't degenerate? I check Twitch some times to see what kind of people are streaming. It's always Vtubers (trannies), Trannies or men making their fuck doll fantasy with the same generic red hair and glasses style (also trannies).

I know the series is anime aligned and has an autistic player base, but there has to be some straight men playing it right?

I started playing Wilds again after taking a long break, and I forgot how damn annoying Alma is. I don't need constant reminders about basic game mechanics when I'm almost HR 400. Also Omega seems to be same kind of shitty MMO fight like Behemoth was in World. Thankfully this time the gear doesn't seem to be insane so I can just ignore it after one kill.

That's something Sunbreak did really well. Even the low rank shitters were worth of hunting in late game with the anomaly system.

I can't tell if Capcom is trying to appeal to zoomers or waifu fags with Grace and Alma. They're the same stuttering retard anime girl stereotype and I hate them with a burning passion

Still playing Stories 3. Almost near the end. Spent a lot of time just trying to unlock all the monsters and their variants. Have no desire to try and min-max genes and skills at this point, but I will probably try to clear up any quests and finding the poogies before ending it. The design of the final monster is cool as fuck. I'd like to see it brought to the main series somehow. Also forgot how cool Yama Tsukami is.

Even if this game had an "endgame", i wouldnt see the point in playing after the finale. Its fun but theres really not enough meat to game to justify more than a one and done playthrough imo. Look forward to the inevitable expansion though, because theres a lot they could do with this entry. Might actually just put it on hold till then for that reason.
Its giving me a weird craving for a Monster Hunter version of those "Be a dinosaur" games.
waifu fags
It's this. And they should have just had Gemma/Miss Forge be our Handler instead for that reason. She's involved in basically every single facet of the story down to being there at the Zoh fight, anyway and shes at least better to look at. OR just have that faggot Erik be the Handler for expedition as a whole, and have Olivia and the other hunters tag along more in the story hunts to show off the support hunter function more to noobs and get them accustomed to multi-player style hunts. But what the fuck do I know.
