Anything that isn't in the 0079 UC era or that was made post-Char's Counterattack I view as absolute garbage. As far as I'm concerned, Gundam died with Amuro. For that matter, I thought it was vastly superior when it was more Starship Troopers-esque before it got too heavy on the newtype psychic nonsense later in the show's run.

The modern stuff is almost entirely unwatchable, and anything that revisits 0079 is a bastardization. The shows need way more Ramba Ral and much less Kira Yamato.

G Gundam is the sole exception because I greatly appreciate its racism and excess and can accept it as a standalone distinct enough from the original to be its own thing.
 
I like the giant robots and stuff, but the only Gundam series that cuts away the shit and gets to the point is war in the pocket.

Gundam SEED is more interesting than people give it. The whole third faction thing and portraying that the Earth is an shitshow of its own is interesting to me.

The Earth Alliance isn’t the Federation and it will never be. But the Alliance isn’t all bleak either, showing there are member states who don’t agree or will flat out fight each other, like in the case of the Eurasian Federation (Former Soviet States, Europe, Middle Eastern nations) and the Atlantic Federation (US, Canada).

The flaw with SEED is that they bury that in multimedia content like mangas, novels and magazines.

Some of the characters could’ve used more work but overall, the world of SEED is far more bleak than the world that UC Gundam is. Newtypes exist in that world but because of the bombshell that is the Coordinators, people don’t care nor notice they exist.
 
UC for actual great television, ovas and movies

I never got into Gundam. All I know is it's Jap anime with huge robots or mech suits. Most Americans just think of them as robots. Like a less cool transformers. I used to watch transformers and had some of the toys as a kid. Like around the late late 80's and early 90's.

I watched some videos of people building and painting those Gundam models. That was kind of interesting. But I would rather just build real life stuff.
 
All of the Gundams before the 21st century are great except Wing which is boring and dumb because it's a ripoff of the previous Gundams and is like a prototype for all the bad parts of Gundam in the 21st century.

The best is Turn A Gundam because it's an absolutely sublime work of art that serves as the true ending to the entire franchise.

The only thing worth watching post-2000 is the first season of Gundam 00 and the original Build Fighters. Everything else starts out good and then they find a way to make it stupid. Except for G-Witch, that started off bad and everything they tried only made things worse in the end.

I know fuck all about them outside of model kits. Freedom gundam is dope and impulse gundam and its variants are really cool plus I love the justice gundam. Beyond the scene of the MC crying weird I know nothing about the actual show and heard people constantly shit talking it, they could've been wrong though I dunno haven't seen it.
