That knee to the face was a real "fuck it, let's get one last hit in" I loved it. Poor Diaz, he probably needs to retire. Post fight press conference he was mumbling about a rematch.
Also, did you see THAT body shot from Perry??
I thought he shattered his sternum with that punch

I would bet money on Draftkings itself that some of these microphone Netflix niggas were reading off ChatGPT, especially when talking about the fighters career and background.
Either that or the writers are such NPCs they may as well be a LLM, it’s just such an odd cadence and I get that vibe.
Overall the show was for normies, even my dumb ass didn’t expect anything except what happened but hey the people were swanging on each other. One of the fight nights of all time, looked neat to the uninitiated but kinda gumby to anyone who’s even slightly paying attention to the sport.

That Netflix card was utter shite and the arena was half empty. This thing is DOA.
It was more than half empty during the entire main card. A lot of this is on Ticketmaster and scalpers ruining things for fans and spectators. Not just Netflix putting on this awful show. They probably could have sold out the first tier of seats with realistic prices.
MMA is in bad shape when the biggest thing it has coming up is a cokehead vs. the ultimate choke-artist.
The UFC hasn't promoted a fighter properly in close to a decade. Conor hasn't fought in five years and won in six years. Yet he's still the most popular fighter on the roster. Guys like Pereira and Strickland have had to build their entire fanbases up themselves with no assistance from the UFC. Dana is so jealous of fighters being athletic and having followers that he promotes himself more than anyone else.

That seems to be the TKO model. Just churn out the product month-to-month within interchangeable talent who'll work for as little money as possible until someone who used to be a big deal/has cross-over appeal shows up and then they fall over themselves to promote them.

They do the same thing with WWE. The part timers and internet celebs are given top card slots whilst the ham and eggers working their weekly TV shows are just sort of there.

I can’t wait to see Conor gas early in the 2nd round and get jabbed 400 times by Max.
Well, there is a reason on why this fight is a 3 rounder even if it is a main event.

It was McGregor's demand for it to be a 3 round because he knows he can't make it to five, and it is on welterweight because he can't cut all the roid mass he put on these last few years.

I think this is a good fight for Conor, both him and Max are natural featherweights who can't cut it anymore, so being on WW means that they won't have the same power, but they can still scrap, and Conor won't get size mogged like he was with Khabib and Diaz

Max isn't too big, and he won't calf kick much, which was always McGregor's weak point.

Max will fight the same way he always does, march and pressure, which is great for a counter puncher like Conor.

The big question is, how well a technical striker like Conor is going to do when he has been on a non stop coke-bender for the last 5 years?

The type of striking Conor was putting out on his prime was due a lot of muscle-memory reps and reflexes, the type of skill that need constant honing, he can't just rely on power.

Can't say I'm excited, this fight should've taken place four years ago, but, hey, for better of for worse, McGregor commands attention.

You want good fights and proper promotion? Too bad! We're doing power slap and bringing in the Saudis.

UFC is a fucking joke. As you said, lack of necessary promotion and not a whole lot that's worthwhile. With the recent Netflix card, I'll be gladly sticking to watching Muay Thai and watching retards fight each other on Street Beefs.

That was some James Toney turning up for a paycheck against Couture levels of fighting in that main event from Carano. Woman who hasn’t fought in mma before Max debuted vs a woman who even years out is known for doing one thing - the takedown/hip toss to arm bar.

Both got quite a bag as well from it as well.

After all, it's the positioning that makes wrestling effective above all else. By ducking for the legs Rousey dodges 70% of Carano's toolbox. Maybe if Rousey shot for the inside leg, Carano's knee probably would've worked, but Ronda was too smart for it.

Rousey wrestling Nunes instead of boxing is an interesting parallel universe to think about.

Man I really wish there was a camera on Logan or Jake Paul or whether it was that funded these fights lol. I can't imagine agreeing out multiple millions for these names and the fights to end so quickly and unceremoniously.
Feel like Rousey and Gina just pulled a fast one on Jake.
Netflix paid for this, and they got enough people to either keep their sub for another month or to sub for 1 month to make this card well worth it for them. This whole card's purse combined cost less than 1 episode of Stranger Things. They could put this card on 3 times for the cost of one single episode. Hell, it cost about the same to make as one episode of House of Cards did in 2013.
