Yeah Chimaev fought a terrible wrestler in DDP who just held guard to avoid being submitted. And then Chimaev fought Strickland who had never even had a submission attempted against him in his entire career. Sean has better ground defense than probably anyone in the middleweight history aside from Anderson Silva. Odds on this fight were always insane.

No chance. Strickland will walk him down like the first fight. And this time he won't be as passive because of the judges. Unless Du Plessis can break Strickland's nose again he'll probably get jabbed to into a decision easily. Strickland will probably win 49-46 if he ever faces DDP again. Next fight for Strickland is Imavov, and he already beat him on one week's notice a few years ago, and Imavov is coming off of a five win streak and looks improved. Should be a good fight.
LoL, LMAO

The washed out Khamzat who absolutely does not know how to strike did this to Sean, imagine what DaddyDP will do yo him. Sean is a paper champ who will lose his next fight (again)

While I’m happy for Sean, you can’t tell me most of us wouldn’t have had some choice words for him after he basically goes back to coasting on the feet in the late rounds instead of really putting it on him - if the judging had gone the other way - which it easily could have. I guess it comes with his style. Everything else was plenty impressive.

Sorry to double post: in this video talking to Plinio Cruz after his victory, Strickland says he separated his shoulder training for this fight. Could explain why he didn’t throw his right hand as much, but makes the grappling sequences more impressive

The switch from the banger of Flyweight to the slop of Middleweight is stark. That was fucking humiliating from 1 round Khabib who according to certain reports on X may be a nonce and kidnapper with Kadyrov's support
Chimaev a pedo and kidnapper? You can't just drop that with no context lel. I thought he was married with a kid?

That main event was dogshit. Both guys gassed hard by round 2 so it was like watching a standard UFC heavyweight fight with guys winging shitty strikes at each other for 15-20 minutes.
U Fight Cheap is absolutely a joke now. I'd favor prime Gegard Mousasi to beat these two bums in the same night. Muh heckin evolution my ass.

Strickland, for better or for worse, only fights in one speed.

He jabs and teeps at that awkward distance of his, and some times he cracks a 1-2. But his trick is that he is constant, even good strikers like Paulo Costa had issues to build an offense against him because of the constant jab peppering.

But that is why Sean gets a lot of split decisions, because Strickland doesn't crack, even on this fight, Chimaev had the hardest hits, but they were very few and damage wise, Sean did more.

There is also another reason why Strickland kept just jabbing. If you go for a straight or a hook, you need to plant your feet, that gives grapplers the counter to dive and take you down. But jabs keep you light on your feet, making it easier to sprawl or move away.

That's why Khamzat was stuck in Sean's jabbing range.

With Strickland is defense first and foremost, and it works.

Only thing that makes sense now is ddp vs imavov for a number one contenders since they both already had their run ins with strickland

Some might even say, Sean and Dricus wuz kangz.

@Bakachev please get your boy. He's bringing disgrace on the brathas with his feminine tendencies:

For the people screaming robbery, why would the UFC allow Khamzat to 'make weight', the fight goes to the cards on a clearly split decision, and then NOT put their finger on the scale for the guy they allow to miss weight and fight once per year? I'm all for a good conspiracy, but the conspiracy has to at minimum be internally consistent.

I wish Sean had more combos than a 1-2 or a 1-4. Or better yet, imagine Sean Strickland with actual knockout power.

Joshua Van might be annoying, but once again, the kid showed can scrap, he keeps his head cool, and picks his shots. He's not the champ until he actually beats Pantoja, but it was a good fight. Japanese fighters just can't seem to get their hands on that UFC gold. Taira had his foot on the gas pedal, but once again, even when the Animelanders do well, they just can't close the deal. Maybe somebody needs to play You Say Run for them in Rd 4-5, or something.

Bobby Green keeps hanging on to the UFC like a barnacle.

Said it before, but Ateba "Baby Ngannou" Gautier needs a ranked opponent.

Speaking of the lowest common denominators on MMA youtube, genuinely, watch Kenny's video on it. It's actually really funny seeing him rip on Khamzat relentlessly, even if he's coping and delusional still. It's entertaining how mad he got.

Absolutely, and good point about obviously still being scared of takedowns so not like he can teep or overextend at all, but the one-speed thing, while it works for him, it exactly what made the Cannonier and first DDP fight slip away from him, no matter how you feel about the judging in either case. At the same time it feels like old times with a guy being such a one trick pony, it's pretty entertaining when someone is great at their own style, especially a unique one like his.
