Every ad is a gambling ad, half the damn mma YouTube accounts are telling you who to bet on including some of the fighters with their picks. It’s just a shitshow.
About what I'd expect if the only reason left to care about a given match is if you have money on it. Is anyone watching horse racing for the love of the game?

Honestly happy for Joe Pyfer. Still has a lot of potential left even after a big win. Does swing wide sometimes and shoots from too far away but an overall solid contender.

Really feeling a Pyfer-Strickland match coming up.

EDIT: As a side note, it is interesting to see someone like Joe Pyfer beating Izzy when Robert Whittaker couldn't. I think what's playing into this is the leveraging of film study. Now that Izzy has competed for long enough, a lot of his moves have been figured out, and the blueprints have been laid bare for all the new competition.

The Strickland fight really exposed a major flaw on Izzy's game. But you need Sean's boxing to exploit that, which Pyfer doesn't have.

I think the real issue here is Izzy's cut. He is over 35, his metabolism is way, way slower now, he is probably shedding a lot more water than he used to that is why he was looking like he was at death's door in the weight-in.

And even with re-hydration, it is a strain on the body that saps your stamina and power.

I think Izzy felt like he was fadding on R2, probably felt that the momentum was turning to Pyfer after a couple of good shots, and tried to get the fight back by trading inside the pocket, maybe hopping for that hail Mary that dropped Alex.

But you only get one of those once in a lifetime, otherwise it happens what we just saw.

Maybe Izzy should try the LHWs, as Whittaker is, take some time to bulk and try his kickboxing in that division, he can hang with guys like Reyes and Jacoby, fuck, I think Izzy V Johnny Walker can be a fun match, why not?

I think people on X have pointed out that Izzy has almost lost to everyone who has height parity with decent reach, and they are right. A lot of the guys Izzy beat into his run were no hopers or if they fought him for the belt were short in height and had short arms.

Rob is supposed to be 6’0 but earlier fights put him around 5’10.5-5’11. Reach wise he has something like a 6-7 inch disadvantage. Same with Vettori, same with Romero (arguably didn’t with that shit fight). Costa had no reach, tiny arms and is also a retard. Cannonier has longer arms but short as well.

Then you look at who beat him. Jan - 6’2 with something like 78 inch reach. Pereira, near identical/bigger. Strickland, DDP and Pyfer - 6’1-6’2 with 75-76 inch reach. Imavov 6’3ish, same reach.

So he’s both getting older and losing out on the natural advantages that informed his defence and moves by being a 6’4 guy with 80 inches of reach.

Agree with all of this, and it echoes Jon Jones story as well.

I want Izzy to retire. I don't need to see him get crushed again.
He’s got one or two left before he is done. You really don’t want another Tony Ferguson situation on your hands, especially with a former dominant world champion. It makes your organization look stupid and reduces fighter marketability. Hard ass former middleweight champion of the UFC sounds a lot better being announced on WWE RAW than being called a former UFC guy on a 6-loss skid.

Ideal scenario for Izzy would be to let him fight a can at home, win, and ride off into the sunset. Everyone is happy. Middleweight isn’t getting any easier, and he gets brutalized if he moves up or down. They would likely cycle him through the WWE because he is very charismatic and has a large following. WWE can merchandise the shit out of him.

I still think the can give Izzy some of the pillow hands over LHW, like Reyes, but Izzy would need to bulk up proper and not just "cut less".

If he stays at MW he is either going to fight a guy like Robocop, who just stiffed his last opponent, or unranked guys like Shara while having to IV blood to make weight, and Jesus Christ, Adesanya losing to the fucking pirate would be depressing as shit.
.
Still, the WWE is not a bad idea, Izzy did have a walkout dressed as the undertaker, he loves that shit, and he is still very athletic.

But the thing about the man is the ego, he likes to beat people, he likes to talk shit and then beat 'em, and he was insufferable after he managed to get that cinematic K.O on Alex.

The Pyfer loss is a wake up call. Joe is a figther that only has a heavy right hand and some mid grappling, he won't last long in the upper ranks and he will be a gatekeeper. If losing to a fighter like that doesn't convince Izzy that he just isn't that guy anymore, then I don't see what will.

Way too early to call, sure, but i can see Izzy going down the Tony road, and that is just sad to everybody, and I don't even like Adesanya.

Colby is finally suing Masvidal for the 2022 assault. How timely, considering Masvidal has been gassing himself up for a return recently.

MIAMI — UFC fighter Colby Covington is suing fellow grappler Jorge Masvidal following a 2022 attack outside a popular Miami Beach steakhouse.

Covington is seeking more than $50,000 – not including interest, costs and attorney’s fees.

According to the complaint filed March 23, Covington and Masvidal fought against each other for a UFC-sanctioned event on March 5, 2022, in Las Vegas and Covington won the fight by decision.

Covington claims Masvidal was angered by the loss and threatened him in a post-fight interview, saying “If I see him out in the streets, I’m going to give him everything I got to break his (expletive) jaw.”

The complaint alleges that Masvidal made good on the threat on March 21, 2022, by attacking Covington as he was leaving Papi Steak in Miami Beach.

Covington suffered a brain injury in the attack and his Rolex watch sustained about $15,000 in damage, court documents show.

The complaint states that Masvidal pleaded guilty to battery and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served.

As a result of the attack, Covington incurred medical expenses and suffered loss of earnings, aggravation of a previously existing condition and disfigurement, among other factors, the lawsuit claims.

Covington is demanding a jury trial.

I'm still catching up on the Israel vs Pfizer card but I just noticed that the little horn motif they commissioned is basically ripped right out of that Ricky Martin song and now I can't unhear it.

Not that anyone really cares, but ONE Championshit shuttered their women’s strawweight division recently. It has been speculated that ONE has been circling the drain, and even though they pay all of their talent the equivalent of the ol’ wrasslin’ ‘hot dog and a handshake’, they cannot even afford that. Rodtang, their biggest star (Mikey Musumeci has been long gone), is still a free agent on the market. Since he’s a Muay Thai guy, he has nowhere to go except RIZIN which already has an absurd roster.

Sign Rodtang as a Bantamweight and let him bust through some cans. Anyone who can shoot a takedown will beat him, but it would be entertaining as fuck to watch anyone stand and bang with someone who experienced CTE at the tender age of 3 years old.

Was reading through these again and was reminded of the Gastelum fight. It was supposedly prime Izzy but he still had trouble.

As far as I know, Sityadong (or whatever his name is) has accumulated over half a billion in debt total for ONE because the company kept operating on large private investments for years and are seemingly unable to string anything together for the last year or two. Their restrictive contracts and their inability to organise makes me think they likely were involved in some shady back end shit hence everything is falling apart. I don't know how a possible rival to the UFC completely shits the bed, but could just be overexpansion and losing all their liquidity.

Makes you really think how good of a fighter he is (that being, mediocre).

Exactly. It reminds me of BKFC which is a huge money laundering scheme, except BKFC is working because it’s small and no one cares

Gynosanya is an insecure, dog molesting faggot with an acute, and unusually cringe, case of main character syndrome. I hope they feed him to Roidbocop and Sharia Gingerbeard, and that he gets knocked out by both of them.
I hope he gets knocked out after being beaten very badly for nearly the full length of the fight.

Against his shortest opponent yet but someone who was also incredibly fast. Massive over performance by one of the biggest athletic wastes of talent in the organization. Bet you on a rewatch all the flaws in Izzy's defence will be there but he was young enough not to pay for them/move out of most strikes just in time.

Izzy relies so heavily on the pull-back, specifically the pull-hook. Imavov really taught him a lesson. So did Strickland with his straight right.
