Ali is in bed with the UFC. IIRC Ali, Rampage's manager who slapped the streamer, and a couple other guys manage the vast majority of the roster between them. His past/present as a terrorist affiliate doesn't matter so long as he keeps his clients in line. Eddie on the other hand has a legit beef with Zuffa boxing moving in on his turf and Dana has always had a chip on shoulder when it comes to boxing promoters.
In the clip you posted Dana gets all giddy for his gay lover JJ and basically dismisses Tom's place as the HW champ.
Ali is the prime example today of the manager who is in bed with the UFC, mainly because he's such a fucking idiot when running the accounts of his "clients" and being involved with Khabib, therefore putting him under the microscope. Islam getting exposed for having a 200k contract as a champion vs Moicano and then everyone running defence for "well you don't actually think he's only getting paid that much, it's structured differently etc"...yeah ok. Probably ok for Islam because he's Arab/Dagestan funded but point aside - he's paid fuck all.
Other guys you are thinking of are Tiki Ghosn who Strickland says is a creep/paedo, and semi famously is Aljo's manager and got filmed doing fuck all to stop him from taking the O'Malley fight when injured. Was also Ortega's head coach for his fight with Volk (a great conflict of interest there when Aljo and Ortega were fighting. Somehow Ortega got his requested 5 round fight, which Aljo was not happy about because he wasn't getting paid more for 2 extra rounds of work. He's the guy who knocked the streamer out.
Malki Kawa/the Kawa bros are the other ones who are scummy, but don't see too much of them anymore. Most recent thing I remember was when Masvidal got humped by Colby, one of them was in the back telling Masvidal "you wanted to fight, he didn't" and looking like an idiot.
Says a lot that Aspinall was apparently, until he signed with Hearn, managed by his father. That old man told him not to sign with all these people who take 10% and don't help much, and his dad managed to get him to several main event bookings and then a title shot, so really there is little to no value with most of these managers. The ones who were actually good (GSP's, Ngannou got one as well) - tended to get paid well or find ways of expanding to other ventures.
Hearn is interesting because he's scummy, but an outsider who is feuding openly with Dana White/Zuffa, and this is perhaps a little bit of revenge/counterplay to Zuffa signing Conor Benn for a 15M single fight (very stupid waste of money - Benn is not good and his hype was entirely due to the Eubank-Benn traditional rivalry passed on through their more famous and better fathers). Be interesting to see what happens with Tom under Hearn. Apparently he's getting a few others under contract for himself for MMA, and there is no doubt that Tom is on some kind of track, if he remains on top, to cashing into a boxing fight or two.
