Dana White was really upset that fans were criticizing this card and the next as being shitty and underwhelming. He went off on this coping tangent of “WELL YOU GUYS HAVEN’T FUCKING SEEN ANYTHING SO SHUT UP”, and of course #1 UFC slag Nina Drama was there. Well, this card has been both shitty and underwhelming.

It’s not even worth linking to. It’s not funny. It’s just embarrassing.

Edit: lol… the Delija fight had a lovely eye poke that ended up costing Cortes Acosta because he tried to draw attention to the blatant foul

Edit 2: are they VARing this shit now?

Edit 3: BASED! Restarting the fight!

Holy shit! Fuck me for calling this underwhelming and gay! Poetic fucking justice! Cortes Acosta was PISSED and decked the fuck out of Delija. Man… he probably didn’t mean to draw the foul and he’s a good fighter but holy shit. That was awesome

Everyone who gets TKOed should claim they got eye-poked so they can get their fight restarted. Half the time they'll actually being telling the truth because professional fighters seem to be allergic to keeping their fucking hands closed when striking.

Other than that that one girl got robbed in the prelims due to shit judging and the main event was another classic Herb Dean "give him more CTE and i might stop the fight" special.

I watch a lot of MMA. It’s all I want to do on weekends. I see a lot of Herb Dean and Dan Miargliotta in other promotions and I get the feeling neither one of them want to ref UFC events. Herb, in particular, is attentive… and dare I say… ‘good’ at his job when he is refereeing in ONE.

Dan? Well, he does everything and is everywhere. He refs BKFC, Jon Jone’s ‘Dirty Boxing’… you name it, he’s there. I think he sometimes gets the rules confused. I’ve seen BKFC bouts where he has allowed takedowns and elbows when it is a bare knuckle boxing contest. Dan also seems to be the absolute most oblivious to egregious fence grabs wherever he goes.

My candidates for best referees are Mark Smith and Jason Herzog. I know Herzog had a controversial call recently, but given how frequently he officiates, one bad call out of hundreds isn’t bad. Mark Smith is just a by-the-books ref who is always on top of the action and makes good calls. Both of these guys actively train various martial arts too, which I think I why they have an edge over their contemporaries. Herb Dean used to train, but he is getting up there in age (he may still train, I’m not sure). Fighters evolve, rules change, and you’ve got to be able to adapt.

Rumor is that Herzog is under FBI investigation for gambling corruption and they are currently flagging and looking into his last 100 fights.

we tried ferguson but you know how well that worked out
Tony's best chance of beating Khabib was 2015-2016, before Khabib hit his stride and Tony was still athletic enough to contest Khabib in scrambles.

After 249, Khabib would just be picking the bones of the man who used to be El Cucuy.
Herb Dean says a meeting will be held on November 4th to address eye pokes, and says there will 'definitely' be something done about them. "Enough people are fed up with the eye poke situation that something is going to be done... There's gonna be a meeting where we go over that. Definitely something's gonna happen. Enough people are upset, enough of the right people. Some people have been talking, it's got enough momentum... Early next week, I think there's a conversation happening on the fourth [of November]."
Turki Alashikh (UFC's Saudi sugar-daddy) probably reamed Dana and Hunter for the Aspinall/Gane outcome.

The obvious answer to eyepokes is to allow small-joint manipulation. Guys want to fight with their fingers out? Get'em broken.

I'm only half joking about that.

I don't know if Herzog's related to all of this but something was definitely odd about the Dulgarian/Del Valle fight from this weekend. Apparently, a couple of high bets were placed on Dulgarian losing in the first round. It's one of the few I bothered to watch from this card and the commentary booth immediately picked up on his really bad RNC defense.

Some betting apps even offered refunds on that fight:

And according to Ariel, Dulgarian has been cut:

There's some more stuff out there to dig through, like this clip of him saying this week that fighters deserve a cut on bets, lmfao

if Herzog has really been involved in fixing that many fights over the years and has gotten away with it clean until now, I tip my hat. Really pulled the wool completely over my eyes (and likely everyone else’s too).

really bad RNC defense
I’ll be real I don’t watch the sport though I really should as a martial artist, but that was atrocious defense and more importantly to me he got up just fine.
I have absolutely not properly defended a choke I should have gotten out of because my body was shutting down from exhaustion. This didn’t look like that. I’ve had my mind broken from exhaustion and pain and given up the match because my opponent pushed me past my limits. This didn’t look like that either.
If this dude knows how to grapple at all he was doing the completely wrong things, I can’t speak for any conspiracy but that’s my read on that clip.

Far be it from my blue belt ass to say what’s up in a bout that wasn’t mine, but he could have done better at least.
You’ve rolled around enough to know the very basics of stifling those types of holds, and the dude clearly wasn’t stiff from exhaustion.

Either way, this situation looks like it’s going to get muddy. I wonder how many managers are potentially in on this thing.

Don’t watch the sport a ton but I love gossip, and found this neat interview with a gambling man about what’s going on.
Interesting situation, I think everyone has some suspicions about sports and rigging in general and I thought the interview was good for explaining how the sportsbooks operate with these things.

BJ Penn has been arrested for the 6th time this year. This time at least it wasn't yet another TRO breach/stalking thing with his mum and is just an old fashioned assault. Of course despite the fact it's his 6th arrest, and he still has to undergo a psyche eval to see if he's even competent to stand trial on his other charges, they gave him a token bail and let him out.

This upcoming fight night looks so damn bad, and it's interesting Bonfim is being rewarded with a main event after the faulty decision victory over Wonderboy.

Interesting that they're putting Ricky Simon on the prelims of such a bad event.

Also this is probably a surprise to no one, but it's so funny looking at how "personalities" in MMA and the subreddit have a opposite view on fighters' opinions and behavior than the general fanbase. Other than fighters' personal opinions, the White House card is a standout one. I don't know how you manage to turn that into a bad thing. I appreciate the MMA reddit for the aggregation of news and because it feels more like older reddit (mostly) without politics, and memes everywhere, but the people on there are still redditors.

Bonfim should get cut for missing weight and being a lame brazilian. Even if he wins against Brown, cut him
Split decision against 42 year old Wonderboy? Decision against Loosa (literally who)? Loss against Dalby? He will do well in the PFL

Line on Padilla finishing him in round 1 jumped from +800 to around +400 - someone putting money on a rd 1 finish. Let’s see if Bonfim gets inspired by Dulgarian,

Shotty work on the new West Wing causes the place to collapse live on the card, hence killing Uncle Dana and turning him into Ketchup? Assuming that’s even the reason for building it, but if all those tech companies are donating, he’s probably doing it for that. Seeing the White House walls covered in adds would be pretty surreal.
