Ankalaev is a curious Dagestani. He knows how to sambo/wrestle, but he doesn't like to unless he's in the cage with someone who can outgun him standing up (Blachowicz [there's a sound argument that Ankalaev got that 5th round against Jan]). I think he really would try to throw hands with Alex, unwise as that plan has proven to be for everyone not named Israel Adesanya (even in that fight, Izzy clipped Alex with his back against the cage).

Prelims were pretty good. Watterson and Arvloski having the foresight to hang them up was good to see. Nothing but respect to both, but they cannot hang with the next generation.

Ian Garry is a boring, one-dimensional fighter. I really had hoped MVP would have put him down, but that was such a disappointing fight in every aspect.

I don’t even remember what happened during the Dolidze fight other than him doing a stupid little jig.

Big ups to Dan Ige who stepped up and entertained with 4 hours notice. Love that dude. Would love to see Ige v Lopes with a full camp. I think Dan takes him. Brian Ortega is a huge faggot.

My comment further up the page pretty much predicted Alex putting Jiri down. Weird stance, lead with head. Nasty headkick, nastier hammerfist on the way down. Despite it, huge amounts of respect to Jiri for taking his loss with such grace. I fucking love Jiri. Prochazka and Fiziev are two of the realest guys on the roster and I hope they can both get back in the winner’s column soon.

My review of UFC 303: my totally legal stream of the event didn’t go down once / 5. I found the prelims to be pretty enjoyable, but the main card was a clusterfuck to say the least.

McGregor events have almost always had zero other good fights. They know that everyone is turned in to see Conor and nothing else. So this was a McGregor event.....without even McGregor fighting. Co-main was a four hour short notice fight. Main was two week short notice fight with two guys who just fought two months ago. Jiri looked terrible from opening bell to being knocked out (twice).

ank is also pretty terrible with leg kicks, Jan had him almost hobbled. despite being a sambist, he's actually got zero submission wins, which is kinda crazy.
I think he shoots for TD midway thru round one and 2, after being chewed up, and then by round 3 his legs are too fucked to do much, and he could get KO'd.

ank is.. idk man he's odd. I really do think that out of all the ranked dagestanis in the ufc, he's the worst. he's definitely nothing like a 'LHW makhachev'

Ankalaev is known as 'dumb Khabib' for a good reason.

He has every tool needed to be champion, except the brain. He only checks leg kicks after he's hurt. He only wrestles when he's in trouble on standing up (Volkan, Jan). To his credit, Ankalaev is a pretty dangerous counterpuncher and he is a legitimate headhunter. Pereira has been knocked out before. Ankalaev is KO-free in his UFC career.

But Pereira stands head and shoulders above pretty much everybody else in striking at LHW. Nobody in UFC has anything to offer standing up that he hasn't already seen in Glory. So Ankalaev's typical strategy of walking guys down, pressuring them into throwing something he can counter, will, like you said, get him chewed up, either with leg kicks (which he barely checks), or Pereira will find an opening somewhere.

Being 'dumb Khabib' by the time Ankalaev realizes he needs to resort to Dagestani takedown spam, it'll be too late.

One of those fights where it's really hard to root for any of them, one is a corny homosexual who has the belt only after an extremely controversial split decision victory, the other one is a schizophrenic, weeb, dogfucking nigger.

I mean seeing that in writing I'd be a lot happier for a DDP win, actually.

Still absolutely no clue how this retard keeps getting title shots coming off of losses either, hopefully a DDP win will stop this retarded trend.

Adesanya is the second highest paid fighter on the roster after McGregor. They are putting him in money fights and belt fights to help pay for his contract. UFC never imagined he'd get owned across ten rounds by people like Blachowicz and Strickland and lose his aura. Until his current contract is up he'll always be one win away from a belt or number one contender fight.

304 looks so lame. Prelims seem fine (especially Kape v Mokaev- want Kape to win so he can call the Englishmen faggots), but the only fight I have any semblance of hype for is Duncan v Rodrigues. Robobama is awesome and someone usually get dropped pretty nastily.

Kape/Mokaev got pushed from main card to prelims, to early prelims in the space of two days.

Kape is about to demonstrate his black belt-level pullout game and Mokaev is going to have a catchweight fight against some local can for minimal paper and no move up the ranks. Hopefully Kape gets cut after this so he can go fight in Ocktagon or some other shit promotion.

I'm semi-hyped for Saturday. Belal has to know this is only shot at the WW belt he's getting so he needs to go pedal to the floor on Edwards, grind out a 5 round UD so I can watch Dana visibly seethe giving him the belt. And whoever wins, Shavkat is waiting for him.

Apart from his unfortunate angloid ancestry, I've been struggling to find reasons to dislike Tom Aspinall. He improved his game, came back from a devastating injury, interviews well, and keeps whatever bad habits he has out of the public eye. The fact that Jon Jones seems hellbent on ducking Tom just makes me want to see Tom send Jon into retirement while Dana White cries in agony.
