For those that may not have seen, we finally have a trial date, 9 September, for Cain Velasquez attempted murder/assorted gun charges.

Usman, Izzy and Volk were pretty active. Once they lost their belts, it's become less active. Pereira has been very active, but just not a defending champ (he's old, so he's going to be doing as much as he can before he rides off)
Weird time where it seems like almost all the champs are not made to be dominant champs. The two that seem they could be long reigning (Topuria and Islam) are a) mega stars in Spain who wants money fights and b) a muslim who doesn't fight in Ramadan and is restricted to Islamic events.

I think Poatan is going to keep speed-running UFC until he clears out LHW or someone stops him. A big problem is Fight Night and guys who could be keeping the champion fed with fights are there instead of on PPVs. The other is, who at LHW wants to go on that suicide mission (except Ankalaev, who wants to fight in Abu Dhabi and stall his way to a decision win)?

They really need to start stripping champs more often IMO, and it doesn't need to have any stigma attached to it. Don't want to, or can't fight within the next X number of months? Fine, but the rest of the division needs to move forward, so someone else will fight for the championship in the meantime, and you can have an immediate title shot on your return. The most ridiculous example being the heavyweight division, in which Aspinall is scheduled to defend his interim belt before Jones and Stipe fight for the real one. It's an absolute fucking joke.

it honestly pisses me off how people like jones can hold up the division whenever the fuck he wants and gets zero repercussion for it

i know i’m yelling into the void but at this point, i want the firefighter vs jones fight so he can go beat his wife again into the sunset

He saw Max dust Justin same as the rest of us and he's SHOOK, he's praying to Spanish Jesus that Max doesn't come back to Featherweight (Rankings in UFC are a gimmick but LOL he's top ten in 2 weight classes).

I'm not throwing dirt on Brian Ortega, because he's a good fighter, but he's already been bodied by both Volk and Max for the championship. Since UFC is the land of the 'money fight' the only three options Topuira has are O'Malley, Volk, or Max.

I'd love to know what someone without any nationalistic affiliation to the guy would find appealing about him, I think he's the most unlikeable champion we've had for quite a while.

Also defending interim belts as a concept (re: aspinall/jones story) is probably one of the most retarded things you can have in combat sports (the second most retarded are interim belts themselves). Not a fan of anglos, but I understand why the guy didn't defend his title yet, also Gane can go fuck himself, how many gifted title shots does he expect back to back? Hope it's going to be vs Blaydes and he can redeem himself for the previous fight with the knee injury or whatever it was.

we all owe usman an apology. he fought often, he fought well, and for the most part his fights were exciting (Colby 1, Masvidal 2, Burns come to mind)
Leon is my least favorite champion by far. he fights once a decade, and he fights like paint drying.
