Weird as fuck stoppage in the PFL.

He was complaining about an issue with his foot, and appeared to be refusing to continue, so Goddard waved it off. According to his post fight interview he got a sliver of glass in there (how the fuck that got in the cage midfight is unknown). Opinion online seems to be split between people agreeing with Goddard that the dude was refusing to fight, and people saying he should have brought the ring Dr in.

Big John did an interview and backed Goddard. He pointed out that you can't call a timeout in a fight, unless there's some sort of specific action/foul that causes it ie eyepoke or nutshot. If a fighter is indicating some sort of injury without that, and refusing to fight it's a TKO.

I don't really blame the referee l but if Doumbé really got injured by a hazardous object left in the cage I don't see why he should be penalized for that. It's a shame because the fight was pretty even, albeit slow-paced.

Funniest thing is he didn't call the timeout the 2nd time. He calls for it to start, Goddard says no keep fighting, Sort of move around, then Baki calls for a stop, and that's enough for Goddard to call it. Run it back. Not like anyone will consider this a loss for Doumbe.

For a 22 year old fighter in Baki and a career long kickboxer who recently went to MMA in Doumbe, both looked pretty alright, if not raw. Very funny how Doumbe has demonstrated in this fight better bottom game and BJJ for getting up in his 6th mma fight than Michael Page has in his entire mma career. Or other long term fighters like Darren Till. Butterfly guard, unbalance the guy, turn to all 4s and get up.

Michael Page's guard game for those who haven't watched is to get to full guard, hold the wrists of his opponent, and ride out the entire round. Darren Till's is getting a halfguard lockdown and then just allowing himself to get shit kicked on the bottom before giving up his back and getting choked out.

Francis Ngannou got knocked out in the second round by Anthony Joshua. He already was knocked down in the first

The fight was pretty much over after the first knockdown, he looked totally zoned out after that. Switching stance just to get left crossed is kinda sorta Ngganou way to lose (like the time he threw away the game plan in Stipe 1) but it's such a bummer it happened in the biggest fight in his career.

Bizarrely (and probably the result of MMA brain) Ngannou decided to switch to southpaw for no reason. If there is one boxer at heavyweight you don't want to be playing southpaw with, it's Joshua (unless your name is Usyk). The guy knows how to fight southpaws really well. Almost immediately floored him.

AJ really didn't have to go into his toolkit much to get it done. Lots of hard body jabs to start, they read that Ngannou wants to parry jabs and throw left hooks, so he stabbed his body early and got him swining way down for parries. Get feints going and after that it's a mop up operation. Utterly brutal finish.

I'm pretty sure Francis got stung by a stiff jab or straight right and for smoothbrain MMA nigger reason when they separated he switched, he felt AJ's power and realised he was playing a losing game of powerslap.

Then when switching stance he stood still with no head or lateral movement, AJ really put on a masterclass of distance management and Francis was stumped.

Complete mma brain. Let’s give him a different look, this worked against Fury at points. AJ is the one guy at heavyweight you don’t want to be going southpaw against just because.

Whether it’s him fighting Zhang (co main Chinese bloke) in the Olympics or 2 fights with Usyk where he looked technically the best he’s been in losses, the man knows how to fight southpaws and he knows how to drill lesser operators than Usyk easily.

It looked like all of b team were high on coke for their matches and interviews etc.

Yep, AJ can hammer that right straight down the pipe with no wind up or read, Usyk is hard to hit, he would clown on Francis.

Those 3 knockdowns are going to have Francis rethinking things when the concussion wears off.

The Fury fight was a work, I don't think Francis was fully playing by the script, the day the betting lines opened Fury by Decision went from 10/1 to 6/1 within a few hours.
The split decision was paying like 40/1 too, it was full Gypsy Carnival, I wouldn't be surprised if that knockdown was Fury acting to drop a round.

Ever heard the old conspiracy boxing is often fixed to go long for advertising?
There are some real fights, like today but it's as sus as pro wrasslin.

Francis needs to go back to MMA after a long lay off, fight Bader in PFL.

Props to him, from what he came from, sticking it to Dana and fighting 2 of the elite HW boxers with a 0 record. He made bank.

Bones just wants to be champ and only cares about his legacy and likely being the sociopath he is, fucking with Dana, which I do commend him for.

Jon will do everything not to go down like Shogun, Fedor etc.

What are my frens predictions/bets for 299?

I hope Vera destroys Cuck Malley.
Chito is durable af and while it would be hilarious for the same finish and Sean to quit from a leg kick to the peroneal nerve again. Chito to win - by decision or a sub is my out there call. Will be interesting to see if Sean's dynamic movement lasts until the later rounds. Sean is def gonna be on his bike avoiding the leg kicks, I can see Chito getting inside, taking down a tired cuck and getting his back by club and sub in the late rounds or just winning the last 3 rounds on volume and control.

BSD and Dustin is interesting, BSD has brutal body kicks against an orthodox fighter he has a height advantage against. Dustin is southpaw too I see a lot of people are calling BSD by sub but I really think he works the inside leg kicks and sets up a left high kick. Dustin gets CroCopped into retirement.

MVP will style on Holland cause Kevin is a dumb nigger with the worst fight IQ and will try and strike with Page. Page by KO at 6/1 is insane.

Burns and JDM is a tough one, given the age diff would typically favour JDM but Burns doesn't have a lot of mileage, JDM is hard to pick against but I kind have to lean with the experience and grappling of Gilbert. If he gets JDM down against the cage I don't see Jack getting up easily. I have a bias with BJJ guys and hate Australians, so my opinion is likely biased.

Blaydes derails Jailton. Jailton isn't gonna take down Blaydes like he did Lewis and just lay on him. Blaydes by GnP TKO.

Gamrot holds RDA against the cage for 3 rounds.

Will be interesting to see the TKD guy Despaigne on the early undercard.
Four years is a long time. O'Malley is under more pressure to beat Chito than vice versa their records notwithstanding. If O'Malley can't get a TKO (nobody has laid out Vera in his career) his path to victory may be five rounds of distance and sniping.

wow

holy fuck back to back bangers

I don't know much about Burns, but his neutral stance work is horrible. He had every chance to end that fight but he paid dearly for his bad stance work when he wasn't on the mat. He has too much weight and power behind his kicks to be throwing them around like that. He's throwing them without any control and his recovery from missed kicks is too slow and sloppy. He's landing off balance and eventually, Jack did punish him for it. He needs to train using his huge power with more efficiency. At this level you can't be fighting so callously.

Everything aside, Holland is a monster with some crazy reach. Page for a debut has one hell of a set of legs on him.

As I said, Kevin is a dumb nigger and Page would style on him. It took less than half a round for Kevin to look as clueless as Francis vs AJ.

I think DC summed it up great that Kevin having bad wrestling but generally focused on TDD how it came back to burn him. It's that and Kevin being a dumb nigger with nigger level fight IQ. The Travis Lutter black belt, fuck they bringing up that old chestnut. The Michael Jordan of BJJ! Kevin is the Kobe Bryant of MMA, it's a helicopter crash of failed/wasted talent.
