Rewatched Strickland vs. Du Plessis:

The judges gifted Dricus with the middleweight title for:
1. A couple of takedowns
2. Blocking Strickland's jab with his face
3. Punching the air and missing the overhand left
4. A quick head kick that did nothing
5. Not getting knocked out

Anderson Silva would have countered Dricus hard enough to send him into a Greater Rhodesia isekai universe.

MW division continues to disappoint. Filthy casuals are calling for Izzy to fight Dricus despite having lost the belt twice in less than a year because he called DDP the gamer word on TV.
You know what the worst bit is. If you look at the 185 rankings, would probably still pick Dricus to beat most of the ranked opposition. It's bad.

This could save ufc 300 by giving it a main event tho.

The IBJJF 2024 Europeans are almost finished, and my niggas I implore you to look out for highlight reels. Lots of the big names from last year came back, all of them out for glory.
These new players coming up in BJJ, just phenomenal to watch them work. Really dynamic, not bitches when it comes to legs, and they got that fire in them.
I watch on Flo, I don’t know where else the matches might be up but it has been a good tournament.

Who are some names to look out for? Last I knew it was all about the Ruotolo Brothers and Mica Galvao

Galvao came back and took the Middleweight title with a beautiful armbar, and though I’m catching up on the replays rn it was a solid year all around.
These younger athletes are really out for war, they are not afraid of playing legs, and their jujitsu is tight. I’m horrible with names, but in particular the women’s divisions were fucking lit.
I’ll watch more of the replays and get back to you.

Wake up, Granpa Volk!

It's almost your turn to fight!

wasn't Alex v Jamal already meant to headline 301 or something. didn't Dana say 300's main event was gonna blow everyone away?
lol. I'm curious how many different fights fell apart that they had to settle on this.
hill has maybe 2 fans worldwide, they're really just banking on Alex to carry it all.

Costa's about to be 0-3 against Reapers because it certainly doesn't look like the rematch with Norwood is going in his favor.

Feels bad, he shouldn't have come back soon after the knockout.
With Jews, you lose.

Congratulations to Ilia Topuria.

Going into this fight, I thought it would be a razor-thin decision, with Volk taking the win. In recent times, Ilia Topuria has become my favorite fighter, but I knew that Volk's lateral movement and circling would give Ilia problems when it comes to closing distance and landing shots.

Ilia shattered my expectations by showing, in this fight, that he developed his low kick, a major weapon that should be used against fast movers like Volk. Once the low-kicks hit, Volk's movement was impaired, allowing Ilia to close distance and land the exact same punch sequence that he used against Damon Jackson and Jai Herbert.

Life is delicate, and the little things can have the biggest consequences.

Brilliant analysis. I know it's almost a cliche for people to comment on the importance of the calf kick these days, but it clearly paid off for Ilia here. People spoke a lot about Volk's mental state coming back so soon after the Islam KO, but his movement and striking looked good until Ilia slowed him down with leg kicks and caught him as he tried to circle out away from the cage. Ilia obviously set up his shot, but it also speaks volumes to his power that he starched Volk so definitively. Islam got a finish over him too, but Ilia folded Volk and left him on the canvas.

Apparently they proposed three opponents to Leon and none of them were Belal Muhammad lmfao.

Topuria improving at a rapid rate. Against Mitchell he’s overthrowing and stumbling to in two fights being really good in a “championship” way. His ability to keep his feet under him and readjust so that he can fire a 5 punch body head combo is really cool.

Right before the finish he cross counters Volk’s jab. Press forward, next jab it’s a slip right body punch into the left hook into a missed right hand. Feet are under him, small steps right, frames on Volk’s face and he’s just got the angle on him. Volk goes for a collar tie (did it before and worked) but he’s complete out of position to take a right hand.

Really hope he keeps improving. He genuinely a good boxer, and not in a “mma boxer” type.

ufc spic edition

haven't been able to watch the last few main cards but sad to see volk lose but not surprised. happy to see him win and make the featherweight division interesting
