Colby's gameplan sucks. What did he tell his coaches he wanted to win on the feet? Wait till your lead leg is completely compromised before seriously attempting to wrestle.

He hasn't fought in 2 years and he's given a title shot on good will and THIS is his performance? Especially after such vicious shit talk.

Unlikely. Pantoja has never been KOed in 33 fights. Fig couldn't get him out of there. All of his power shots come from knees and spinning elbows which he's neutered by trying to be technical, but he's not technical enough for it to work yet.

MMA Masters isn't a great gym. It's a place where a bunch of fighters go there and do some training, they like calf kicks and that's it. Most guys out of that gym are aimless outside the calf kick. This is what's happened to him since he left/got kicked out of American Top Team.

Don't think he fights anymore, probably retires. If the UFC wants to tap into MAGA/right wing fans, they have Strickland who is a) a champ, b) talks a lot of shit and c) is very active as a fighter. Don't need Colby. With all the sitting out and this being the 3rd time, he's never getting a title shot, and there is no reason why he's going to suddenly start fighting up and comers anymore.

Deveison taxed Pantoja's neck but they've never gone five rounds. Pantoja was visibly gassed out against Royval in rounds 4-5 but Royval couldn't close the deal thanks to his 'technical' striking and his appalling takedown defense/escapes.

Speaking of which, Tony Ferguson might have lost (and thank God not by KO), but I think he exposed Paddy in defeat. Paddy was also pretty visibly gassed or had trouble breathing through his nose after Tony tapped him a couple of times. The Lightweight division has too many killers in the upper ranks for him to be struggling against Tony Ferguson on the decline, and that's without even considering Islam Makachaev.

Leon Edwards absolutely dogwalked Colby Covington for five rounds, which was surprising and disappointing. This might have been Colby's last shot at the Welterweight championship so I would have thought he'd leave it all in the cage. His next challenger is either going to be Muhammad or Rakhmonov.

Hopefully Rakhmonov. Dude finishes everyone and is down to scrap if need be. If Leon is going to do this neutralising pot shotting game he's either going to have to do it really well for 25 minutes, or he's going to have to get into a dogfight if he doesn't want to lose. Rakhmonov might just blow him out if he's too passive.

Rakhmonov is just a hard-minded Mongolian whose 'gimmick' is that he beats the shit out of people, puts on his fuzzy hat and goes home to have some roasted horse.

Muhammad is 35, on a five-fight streak (technically nine) with a break in-between wins due to an NC eye-poke by Edwards. Rakhmonov would probably be the tougher fight for Edwards, but Muhammad has unfinished business with him. UFC can afford to have Rakhmonov wait awhile longer, or even put him in against Burns or Usman before giving him a title fight to cement his status as a title contender.

UFC trying to meme Strickland vs. DDP into a superfight feels weird, but it's one of the few plays they have since the Middleweight division is in shambles at the moment.

and he's pretty damn good at it. i don't care for the russian/chechens much but i mean when rakhmonov fights, he just doesn't fight, he finishes people.
