Saying this as someone who has a generally favorable view of Colby, I have little interest in him vs Edward's right now. Feels forced by the UFC after they looked at the views from clips of Colby this week. He needs to beat a legitimate title challenger first for me to care

Edwards must have spent 90% of his camp doing takedown defense. That was legit technique. Working on Usman’s knees also took a little bit out of his takedown attempts.

Get Chimaev a dietitian and make Edward’s vs. Chimaev. Colby isn’t fighting as long as his lawsuit against Masvidal is active.

i really wrote off leon again, but the guy legit looked like he was the champion out there. kamaru looked remarkably worse. i expected him to wrestlefuck leon to an easy win, but he could never really get it going. his standup was really good in the past, but leon was tearing through him on the feet. he was touching him whenever he fucking wanted.
usman had a couple moments on the feet but he was a shadow of his former self. it was only a few months ago that he and leon had their second fight, where kamaru looked real good right until the last moment. it's crazy how quick his decline was.

seein justin win was really nice, but all the talk of him retiring soon makes me a bit melancholic. but better to retire quick, rather live on in a half-life, on the wrong side of highlight reels like tony or bigfoot silva

Aren’t Usuman’s knees absolutely fucked? His body is too battered and it’s starting to show. He needs to retire soon or else the sport will retire him.

Think his physical decline lines up with his move to Wittman. Usman's style of being a relentless power pressure wrestler is guaranteed to have massive success, but at a cost. The striking might not be technical, and he might get hit, but it's ok because he just wrestles people down. Problem is it's not a style that leads itself to longevity.

Think his decline lines up with him moving to Onx Sports with Wittman, who has an approach of taking these forward pressure fighters (like Gaethje), training out of them the forward movement and turning them into open space boxers. Saw it a lot from Usman vs Burns onwards. It's a way of being effective (to a degree) while self preserving, at the cost of "forgetting" how to pressure. After this and Gaethje-Fiziev, pretty confident in saying neither guy is capable of being an effective forward moving fighter anymore (win or lose).

I was listening to some analysts leading up to the fight, and one of the big "hot takes" that one guy had was that Usman's pressure performance against Leon in fight 2 was not because he "remembered" how to pressure, but rather Leon's major footwork mistakes just gave it to him, and in round 5 when he tried to hold his ground, Usman couldn't push him back. Think there is now an element of truth to that. Could push him back in spurts and really properly in round 5, but that's it because Leon worked hard on his footwork and not conceding as much space. He can't do the pressure game as well now.

How blind do you have to be to score that fight for Marlon? Rewatching it, there's a case for Cory winning every round besides maybe the third one.
They had 2 regulars and then some random local guy who no one has ever heard of judge the main event. I shit you not, this is the first time that he has judged an event, with the main event being his second attempt at judging.

Texas is infamous for dodgy scorecards, to the point where there is serious thought that it may just be boxing tier corrupt judging. You get some first timer spic judge in a majority hispanic area (San Antonio) where there is a fan favourite South American fighter in Chito? Going to try and score rounds for him and give him a win.

Chito drank the kool-aid thinking he could do this anti-round winning fight against a true elite of the division in Sandhagen and never got going.

Fucking Pereira was piecing Izzy up, then decided to go full retard instead of being patient and got absolutely knocked the fuck out. Also Izzy's celebrations are so unbelievably fucking gay.

He's possibly the most petty guy winning I have seen. This dude went up to Alex's kid and did the flop, then in the post fight presser bragged about laughing at an 11 year old.

This division sucks outside the top 3. Get Chimaev a fight at Middleweight, then throw him in a title fight, that's the most interesting thing. Izzy and Dana have both hinted they don't want a trilogy (but Dana will put up Nunes-Pena 3).

You can’t deny that middleweight has the funniest characters tho
