This is my first time posting in this thread and I want to say that Jon Jones looks and fights like he’s been through a lot over the years. I’m sure you can say the same about other fighters over the years, but I have a strong suspicion that Jon Jones will go down the Chuck Liddell route at some point in his career.

It’s days like these where I wish Rampage Jackson was still fighting. Either way, I hope Jon keeps a strong head on his shoulders, figuratively and literally.

honestly, i think the most fun fight jones could have rn is against jiri in LHW, but it took us 3 years for jones to move up, so no way are we seeing that fight now.

still, even though he's a wifebeater, it's still a somewhat nice feeling to see jon jones fight again

Jiri would be an amazing fight to see - one of the few fighters out there that seems to actually want to learn other styles and techniques. Watching him wrestle with Takanoyama was pretty dope. I agree though, we missed the boat on that at 205, but in fairness Jiri has fought at heavyweight before. Definitely not his natural weightclass but there's hope for the future (assuming his shoulder injury isn't the kind that will keep on recurring until he retires).

As for Lewis, I for one would love to see Jones fight him. It'd be like the modern era version of Fedor vs Zuluzinho. Jones would slap several shades of shit out of that man and I have zero problems with this. If we're going to see a can-crushing championship reign at least Lewis is on the chopping block.

I too want to see a Jones vs. Lewis fight. That sounds like fun.
 
Merab wrecked him. Took cues from the first fight with Sterling where Sterling went hard from the start and had success, but Sterling is himself a) not an insane cardio machine and b) does really silly shit like spin, throw body kicks, rolls for legs etc, all of which Yan could use to give himself breaks. Merab in contrast is fairly basic with his arsenal, so other than the pace, he doesn't really make too many mistakes.
 
does peter count as the first male (former) ufc champ from asia? lyoto, bj, and hendo are all half asian by race, but they were born in other continents. pete's hometown and his schooling were all done in the asian part of russia, and he's partly chinese on his dad's side.
it doesn't really matter, cuz it looks like he won't be champ again though. just a shower thought, i guess

edit: i think sakuraba won a ufc tournament back in the day? does that count?

Molina's rant was 100% spot on about gay acceptance, but he should've had the guts to just admit he was bi then.

Usman blocked high kicks but he ate basically everything else, lol. I guess that's what a devastating KO does. I have a hunch Kamzat is next for Leon, either way WW is stacked with good wrestlers he can't take a break.
 
I will give Edwards credit - he was defending those takedowns remarkably well for a British kickboxer (when he wasn't grabbing the fence or gloves) but this was against an over-the-hill Usman. Dude clearly doesn't have the legs or speed that he used to and if he can't reliably out-grapple Edwards I don't see him doing much more within the top 5 at 170 anymore.

Edwards vs Colby will be what Usman would have wanted this fight to be - wall and stall snoozefest. Colby knows that he's made of glass and he won't even bother attempting to stand in front of Edwards.

Yup, that's what happened to DC against Stipe in fight 3. Has this mummy guard to block 1-2s, is winning, winning, winning, then Stipe goes to the body, hurts him, and then KOs him. Fight 3, he's got those elbows tucked in tight to block body shots, and then just eats a shit load of 1-2s. Same here. So dialled into the head kick that Leon could kick his legs and body for free.

Colby will lose that badly imo. One of the big things with Edwards and Usman is that Edwards is one of the few guys who can physically compete with Usman, just on size alone (not factoring in the technique he's clearly worked on). Colby won't be able to do that, and I don't think can do that. He's also got terrible entries to his takedowns now if the Masvidal fight is an indication.
