bro it lasted a fucking second wtf. IT TOOK THREE YEARS OF WAITING FOR A 2 MINUTE FIGHT. god, i guess jon jones really is that good but im so mad hahaha i really was hoping for a long fight. the way it went, you'd think gane was a rookie

The theater I watched the PPV at was stunned when Jones won because the camera angle was so bad. It wasn't until the replay that we saw that Gane was actually getting choked out; in real time I saw Jones leaning on his neck and then Gane just tapped "outta nowhere."

Also, shout out to Grasso winning tonight. Valentina looked off though, but she was scoring takedowns at will in the 2nd and 3rd. Was surprised she came out looking tired in the 4th and then Grasso caught her after a slow spinning kick.

Gane with an all time bed shitting performance where all his flaws came out. His now very clear lack of ground game, his overthrowing of rear hand punches and terrible decision making. Jones looked...good? The short time it was on the feet didn't look great. Low side kick that looked slow and a wide as hell hook. When given the opportunity to take the back he did straight away.

He wants Stipe next. No thanks, he's washed. Fight Blaydes.

Also, shut the division down, it's trash. 2 time title challenger doesn't know how to dig underhooks.
 
Has anyone heard from DC? The level of salt in that man's blood right now must be approaching fatal levels. That said, his commentary during the fight was actually remarkably unbiased, so fair play.

Dunno what HW has to offer Jones outside of Stipe though - and I don't favour Stipe in a fight against Jones at all. He'll get his knees kicked in. Division is basically finished so long as Boxing keeps stealing all the big men and giving them actual paydays.

my thoughts exactly. i don't want to see jones vs fucking derrick lewis - and despite everything, god still hates us so a derrick lewis title fight can happen again at any time, for any reason. curtis and tom are the only two in the division who aren't absolute mongoloids at wrestling, and well they're probably not in any danger of beating jones.
honestly, i think the most fun fight jones could have rn is against jiri in LHW, but it took us 3 years for jones to move up, so no way are we seeing that fight now.

still, even though he's a wifebeater, it's still a somewhat nice feeling to see jon jones fight again

I honestly expected Jon Jones to be gassed out after 1.5-2 rounds max and lose due to poor stamina. After all, he hasn't had a fight in 3 years and he looked..... puffy to put it mildly. But that guillotine choke was an unexpected result and just like the Valentina fight, a tapout submission like that can happen at any time.

Jon fucking said it'd be easy. He walks in there kind of tubby looking, exposes the Gane meme in fucking 2 minutes. There is literally no debate, JBJ is and probably will forever be, the greatest man to ever fight in MMA. All the idiots on /heem/ saying Jon cant take Gane down, or how Gane was going to win are coping hard as fuck right now. Looks like fucking around and playing fifa isn't the best basis for MMA. Being a sociopath with god given talent and actually training however, is. Forever the GOAT.
 
Now that I've sobered, I was legit pissed when Picograms Jon won off of a bullshit guillotine in the first round. Gane looked like an absolute geek. The women had a better fight.

The heavyweight division is an embarrassment at this point.

Every flaw Gane has showed since debuting got exposed hard here. Any punch he throws that is not a jab is dogshit with him overthrowing. The first time he throws his rear hand, Jones slips, Gane has to step forward because he overcommitted and this gives the back.

No idea how to stop mat returns, no idea how to break a rear waist cinch, doesn’t have the basic instinct to pull on the arms when in a choke. Dude capitulated hard.
 
Bring Francis back and have him fight Jon then trash the HW division along with everything below 155 including the women.
 
I knew Gane could crumble but I did not imagine he would implode that bad that quickly.

I assumed Francis dominated him with his retard strenght but maybe Gane is that bad.
 
Gane is like a purpose-built anti-Ngannou weapon, i.e. basically HW Pereira. Gane never faced a wrestler/sambo dude probably for a reason.

I think guys like Spivac, Aspnel, Volkov can beat or at least give trouble to Jones but my guess is Jones fights Stipe (another preferable stylistic match up) then retire or go hiatus again. MAYBE Jones chose the easiest one for a tune up but who knows.

Either way, HW ecosystem will go back to normal-ish where more balanced guys are on top, because the anomaly who could knock out people while defending a double-leg is gone.

She probably needs a new coach/team, her fight IQ is declining. It looked like she was trying to out box Grasso like how she tried to out grapple Santos to make a point or something.
It really made me 🤨 how she didn't throw leg/calf kicks when Grasso wasn't defending kicks very well.
