For the February 8 broadcast, Power Slap came in at No. 68 for the night with 275,000 viewers and a 0.08 share in the 18-49 age range. That number is a new low for White’s latest attempt to break into something other than MMA, dropping from last week’s previous low of 284,000 viewers and a 0.09 share among 18-49 viewers.
Womp Womp

This fight(and the one before it) made me much more interested in Islam and Volk's next fights. Would love to see this again in a year and a half if both guys are still rolling. If P4P means what the name implies, Volk should still be the #1.

I think Yair is a pretty serious threat because he can catch Volk with kicks when Vok is dipping/ducking. Volk will adjust and probably try to wrestle fuck Yair but those damn kicks are no joke nonetheless.
48-47 was the right decision. Makachev made a mistake trying to wrestle when he was doing well striking.
Makachev was probably not that comfortable with the striking exchanges, even though he was doing well for the most part. He was reaching to his own thigh numerous times, that's a tell-tale sign he was hurt by leg kicks. Pretty dangerous habit because it exposes you to high kicks.

>Power slap thing
Slap fight is funny only when bog goblins from mystery European countries go for it. Those humanoids don't even understand a proper human language, and they have no better things to do after all.

It's a shame Dana didn't invest in stick fighting (alternate timeline UFC division, canceled because dangerous) or Ganryu-jima style weird fights.

Unfortunately the P4P is just some bullshit the UFC decides whatever it wants it to be. He should definitely still be #1 after that. You didn't see Bivol become a higher ranked P4P fighter than Canelo when he beat him in a surprisingly clear cut and rather controlling fashion.

If you are a LW, you had better be embarrassed watching this guy come up and put on a very strong performance against someone who has basically cruised his fights with wrestling. Always been a thing with Lightweight, just absolute dogshit wrestling defence and counter wrestling as a whole, which is thankfully changing.

Great fight. Hope they both retain and clear up the division, though knowing Volk's age he will drop off at some point. Absolutely insane that this man started MMA in 2011.

A lot of people have the idea that wrestlers make strikers uncomfortable, but very much the opposite is also true. I think there was a good reason why he was tiring by round 5. The discomfort and stress of having to stand when he can't get trips off, and his wrestling is not going as well as he hoped, very tiring.

What a great fight. I personally think Islam did win fair and square. If they rematch (seriously hope they do!) I think Alex can get it done. He's even better than I thought. Islam is as good as I expected, but I'm surprised he never threatened with submissions this fight, he's been a monster at them. I guess that's credit to Volk's groundwork.
Even in defeat, Alex's stock has risen.

What a good time. Now it's time to not watch the ufc at all til Jones' fight, cuz everything til then looks boring

Volk retained the #1 p4p spot. Pound for pound is fucking meaningless but still, lol.
That is fucking hilarious. I guess they saw the online reaction where not only fans, but several respected fighters said it was the case, and then the 12 DJs who decide on the rankings were told "maybe don't change it".

There's a case for 3-2 either way. Derek scoring 4-1 shows he hasn't got his head screwed on correctly. AND STILL THOUGH, BABY. UP THE VOLK.
Only people I've seen seriously argue 4-1 are Ali Abdelaziz affiliates, muslims or caucus fetishists who want to live their weird vicarious fantasies through these Russian men. Basically people who are completely worthless.

Has any more information come out of the IV accusations? Hooker would be retarded to make these claims without any evidence. That isn't out of the realm of possibility though.

Actually this has become very fucking funny on MMA twitter. My timeline might be a little messed up but it so far goes something like this.
-Eugene Bareman goes onto Ariel Helwani's show to talk about results and other stuff. Topic swings round to the IV accusations. He goes through the following information.
  • He and his team have very reliable information that indicates that someone from that camp used an IV - 2 fighters could have used, Islam or Zubaira Tukhugov who was on the early prelims.
  • He points out that there are gaps in the information his team has, the first is above, they know someone used an IV, but not who. The second is that under USADA rules, you are allowed to use an IV, but only 100ml of fluid over 12 hours. This is minuscule and utterly pointless unless you go over, but they can only claim he didn't.
  • Advised Hooker not to say anything about it publicly and they would try and deal with it behind the scenes.
-After this, a whole bunch of journalists (UFC shills) publish the official guidelines for use of IV - under USADA rules, 100ml over 12 hours. Only issue, this is an Australian commission card, and the rule there is no IV whatsover. So far, nothing comes out that has implicated Islam.

-Following this, the best manager in the UFC, the Don King of MMA, Ali Abdelaziz, a manager well known for being a total piece of garbage who manages and tweets using his fighter's accounts, and is Islam Makhachev's manager, puts out this absolute big brained post on twitter before deleting it, but not before people captured it.

Wait what? I thought all the guidelines said either 0 for Australia, or 100ml for USADA rules? This is like 20-30 times that. What the fuck are you on about Ali? Have you just stupidly ratted out your client as having banged 2-3 litres of liquid into them through an IV?

Of course, he backtracked the hell out of this. Unfortunately, once you have it up, that's it, screenshots taken.

Apparently some other Russians have claimed that they managed to get Tukhugov to snitch and say that Islam used 1.5 litres in an IV and that Khabib also used it against Gaethje, but that's unconfirmed. Basically some accusations that were dead on arrival are now seeming more and more likely because this terrorist retard couldn't help himself.

Edit: Also to give an idea about MMA media (UFC shills) trying to cover ass, consider the following.

Oh, so no harm no foul, Islam and his team could have hired a nurse and she could have banged as much liquid into his body as needed and not break the rules. Except he left out two key points according to Hooker.

Which obviously, they did not do, and being an Australian card, is completely irrelevant, because the rule in the Australian commission (where the event took place) is a total ban on them.

Thanks for confirming this, I was unsure if it was fake screenshots circulating in the areas I read. What a colossal idiot lmfao.

Yeah he's a retard who somehow got into the management business, probably due to his terrorist connections and connections with guys like Ramzan Kadyrov, who loves using MMA to "sportswash" his image. He's the reason why Usman, Gaethje and Cejudo were pictured in Chechnya shooting guns with Kadyrov and his sons a few months back. Clearly some sort of deal going on where Ali gets all the caucaus fighters from Chechnya and Dagestan to represent, and in return he sends them over to make this guy look good.

Trying to get clarification on the rules for the IV, as others have pointed out, Costa and Cerrone have been suspended for IV usage before.

IV usage can flush out PEDs and masking agents very quickly. You can detect IV usage through the remnants of the plastic used in the bags and tubes. If USADA wants to test you and gives you like an hour or two heads up you can use an IV to literally clear your system of all sorts of PEDs. Hence why some athletic commissions will ban all use of IVs even with a TUE no matter what. And why others will only allow an IV to be used with cooperation of some type of anti-doping group to ensure that the IV is just used for rehydration and not to avoid a PED ban. Some commissions won't allow an IV use at all because it means the weight cut was too much like Australia's rules.

Dan Hooker so far has basically outed UFC and USADA for allowing cheating yet again. Has outed the Australian athletic commissions for not enforcing their IV ban rules which someone violated (likely Islam). Has outed Ali Abdelazis and his clients for using IVs in the past. Including likely geting Islam and Khabib outed as using IVs to rehydrade. But zero chance anything of consequence actually happens for anyone here. Probably UFC punishes Dan Hooker more than anyone else here by making him take harder fights and not promoting him.

Thanks to Ali being a retard, what was undoubtably Islam's best win (even though it didn't end the way you would hope it would end) has been tainted by this expose. This is probably going to follow him for a while. Already seen people making the joke of "Islam Makhachev, can't spell it without IV". Islam hasn't helped by when they interviewed him, he went on about "anti-Russian sentiment, politics and anti-Russian preference", citing the Yan-O'Malley decision (which is ok, it's close enough of a fight) or the Ankalaev draw (which is also ok, he fought like a retard and it was 50-50). Not a good look given what's happening with Russia and Ukraine.

Few others (Craig Jones, that one guy who is the promotor/journalist for Georgian MMA fighters) have brought up the documentary Icarus, which is about the largest sports doping scheme in Russia. This is beyond common. It's just been hidden, and these idiots managed to expose themselves for something that is meant to be quietly understood but not brought up, making everyone look bad.
