My picks:

Makachev-
Makachev's grappling skill is underrated and Olive's BJJ is overrated. Olive simply can't fight like he usually does because Makachev isn't scared of Olive's jitsu, unlike Olives past opponents who stayed away from grappling exchanges.
I know Olive's wrestling is legit, but either way it's gonna be a lengthy grindy fight with lots of clinches and ground works with Makachev on top.

Yan-
S'melly's long range accuracy strikes are a legit threat Yan never faced before (Ishihara was kinda close but he wasn't that accurate/long/fast), but Smelly doesn't handle forward pressure that well and Yan is really good at stepping forward with hands up, picking shots.

Smelly will have a hard time keeping the distance unless Yan gets MAD and starts head hunting (which can happen theoretically speaking because Yan is crazy).

Aljo-
I can see PEDillashaw winning by distance management and volume strikes, but that must not happen because he is such a shit fuck cheating bitch. I don't care how Aljo wins, but I hope it involves some illegal moves and ideally DQ (of PEDildo) for keks.

I have gotten most of my picks on this card correct. The only one I got wrong was Khabib's cousin, I thought he would lose since he was the worst record of any of the Numagomdovs.
I thought Belal would beat Sean by decision but never thought it'll be by TKO. My remaining picks are,
Gamrot out-wrestles Beneil
Petr picks apart Sean over 3 rounds. Sean still makes it look competitive
Charles outclasses Islam subbing him in the 3rd

Rough Predictions
 
Last fight night was really good, and then the main event happened. I swear the Featherweight division was designed for Volk and Max to keep rematching each other, only for Volk to beat his ass so hard that the universe shifted and decided to injure half the ranked fighters. Ortega has a shoulder injury, Emmett has a dodgy decision he shouldn't have won, Kattar just exploded his own knee, Evolev is out with an injury, Giga is out with an injury...
 
I'm worried for Volk against Islam but if anyone has a chance it's him. Props to him for not backing down from a challenge like this and I feel like his value as a fighter won't drop even if he loses.

Feel bad for Dariush who is still firmly placed in the "if we don't have any other options" title challenger camp. Wish Dustin and Justin weren't clogging up the division and would fight more.

Oath. Dariush probably deserved the next title fight but I think Volk gets the first strike because of his performance in Featherweight recently, and the fact he and the media have been pushing it for a while. I feel like Fighting needs a better method of structuring fights for titles, but at the same time fighters should get a say in who they fight. Someone brighter than me can figure that out lol.

UFC event was ok. Rodriguez lost her streak by doing a terrible gameplan and staying at range with the less crafty, but very powerful ranged striker. Got standing TKO'ed. D-Rod got Magny'ed, so Magny has now broken GSP's record for most wins in the Welterweight division.

There was also this one fight where a James Krauss fighter (former fighter turned head coach at Glory MMA and does all this weird "pay me for betting tips and access to this discord" grift) suddenly had the betting line shift putting him as a massive underdog about 12 hours before, and then he blew his knee out, so that's incredibly suspect, sending out your fighter with a bad knee as suddenly a shit load of money comes on his opponent to lose.

He's the reason why a recent rule change prevents fighters from betting on themselves or other fighters that recently came in.
 
I have to ask the MMA thread an important question? How do you see this play out and which fighter do you see winning? Personaly I think Zhang is going to fucking kill Esparza, 1st round win via murder.

Hope Zhang kills her. Awful double champion. Did worryingly get stuck on bottom against Rose, so there is some worry there.

Her 2 belt wins are pure fraud wins as well. She won the inaugural belt from TUF where she fought 2-1 Rose Namajunas as a 9-2 fighter, as well as being the Invicta strawweight champ at the time of fighting for the UFC belt. Basically the equivalent of can crushing. Then the second fight, Namajunas has a PTSD "daddy my mental health issues from being sexually abused as a child" moment and threw away a fight by doing nothing. She's a split decision machine. She can't strike well, she's not an interesting character.
 
The Bellator/RIZIN card on New Year's Eve is looking pretty fucking good.

Patricio Pitbull versus an absolutely on fire Kleber Koike. AJ McKee facing one of the best offensive grapppers in the game in Roberto Satoshi. The neverending saga of Horiguchi and Ougikubo. The queen of Japan, Seika Izawa faces Si Woo Kim in the Atomweight GP Final. Both are clearly the top two women in RIZIN now and Kim hasn't lost since facing Izawa in DEEP.

Best shit RIZIN has been involved with since the COVID Era began.

I fucking hate when promotions put good cards on New Year's Eve or other holidays. Who the fuck is going to watch them, I'm 100% going to spending time with my family. I'm never able to watch them live. They should just stick to weekends.

Carla genuinely gets under my skin, she truly is everything wrong with WMMA. She has everything you don't want in a champion. She won her belt with a BS match, is uninteresting/boring, and doesn't move the needle. These traits exist in some Male MMA champions but it's never all three. The only good thing to come out of this is Zhang being champ
