I can't be the only one who felt cathartic watching Usman getting his shit rocked? Especially after several rounds of toe-stomping and fake eye-poking. I haven't yelled that loud in a fight in ages.
After watching Aldo get fence pressed for 15 minutes, having that finish at the end was very nice.

IDK, they already have a built in story for Leon Chimaev, in that they made the fight 3 times and it kept falling through. He's fighting Nate in the most obvious "build up hype" fight, so maybe make that, get Usman to fight someone he hasn't yet, then do Usman-Chimaev (this fight gives me zero hope that Edwards will be a long time champ unless he seriously fixes his backing up to the fence).

Wasn't just a hope and fire, he had been setting it up with is low and body kicks. Usman hung around at long range too much and got hit by the Rob Whittaker special while ducking into it. 1-fake 2- high kick.
That fight was crazy, yet phenomenal.

This Edwards win has given me some serious hope that Pereira can find the shot on Adesanya. If low output decision machine Edwards, who coasts all the time, can put together a series of feints and looks to set up a flush knockout, then the man who does it all the time and has a similar build can do so as well. Especially with how Adesanya has been coasting these last few fights.

It would be hugely satisfying to watch Gynosanya get ktfo by Pereira again.

Shame. Usman went Dominick Cruz mode by slipping at long range and paying with his head. 100% sure there's going to be a rematch, and Usman's going to really close distance this time, perhaps with a volume boxing approach. Usman probably recognized post-fight that he gave Leon too much space, especially for the low kicks.

Probably. Same time, I think it's not impossible for Leon to come into the rubber match having both worked on the areas of weakness (being passive and backing up) and having his confidence at an all time high, and we get something like Penn Edgar 2 or Fig Moreno 2 and everything is easier for him and he wins quicker.

That finish is going to be an all time great KO/MMA moment. The stakes of the fight, especially for Usman, the corner work before for Leon, the timing of the commentary, how the fight was going, the slickness of it, the memorable line afterwards. It will be replayed years later on many reels. I feel like it's one of these finishes where you can remember not only the finish, but the commentary as it happened as well. Kinda like the Barboza-Etem finish, the Rousey-Holm finish, or the Aldo-McGregor finish.

Bam Bam nearly got it done, lot of heart shown. Congrats to Gane he's a beast.
Gane showed he could take a punch, which according to him knocked him out. He's way better imo when he's not doing the slow paced pot shotting, but is throwing more. Amazing for a heavyweight that he can get flash knocked out and stick to the fundamentals.

Whittaker went out and did his thing. Must be the only time I have seen Vettori deterred in a fight. By round 2 he really didn't want to pressure at all. Even with Trannybender or Costa he would take the shot and keep pressuring. That moment where he styled on him by taking him down, then uppercutting him when he was in that "please don't hurt me" position was kino.

Even at the end when Vettori had his little Anthony Joshua moment, people who translated apparently had him admitting defeat. This is the same guy who insists he won the Adesanya fight and round 5 against Costa...he admitted defeat.

Kek UFC 279 presser cancelled after a shitshow broke out backstage:
According to a report from MMA Fighting, Khamzat Chimaev initiated the incident after kicking Kevin Holland backstage. After that scuffle was settled and Holland went on stage, there was another incident between Chimaev and Nate Diaz’s camp that reportedly involved water bottles being thrown.

Dana White also confirmed that the first altercation was between Chimaev and Holland, before it started escalating with the others. He also says that among those scheduled for the press conference, four of the six fighters and their camps were involved.

Dana must be shitting bricks about the same thing happening at the weigh-ins/face offs.

Nah, he said they'll have it under control. Chimaev's group had upwards of 30 people, Diaz's group was in the 50s, Holland had maybe 4 friends with him.
