Eh, gym stories are gym stories. Wouldn't be surprised given that he's more technical than Khabib, which I suspect is done to get around not being as good of an athlete.

Hope Charles gets it because fuck the Dagestani dickriders. Almost as cancerous of a fanbase as McGregors.

Bummed that Shore didn't get it, but lots of time to improve. O'Malley for sure is going to avoid that callout and probably be fed someone like Edgar to knock out.

I mean, which fighter ranked higher than him has he a concrete chance against? Pedro Munhoz was already a stylistically favorable matchup for him and O'Malley's showing in the first round wasn't that convincing. The rest of the Top 15 straight up murders him in my book.

None imo. Maybe Font in the hope O'Malley chins him, but that's going into the realm of someone who has a process in his fighting. O'Malley is trash who has hit his ceiling atm.

a)Nate really is leaving to go do shit like boxing after this
b)Nate really wouldn't fight without it being against a decent name

If Nate's really leaving might get what use you can out of him and give some more shine to the guy you're hoping will be a major star for years to come.

Apparently there are talks that Sean O'Malley is going to fight Petr Yan at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.

He fucked it up by looking like ass against a handpicked top 10 fighter in Munhoz. Can't do much else with him other than maybe give him Edgar, so guess they are going to throw him to the wolves and hope he either gets the surprise finish/win, or looks good in a loss. This reeks of them realising what his ceiling is after that last fight and trying to cash in on it now.

Literally #1 versing #13, this fight makes no sense, and with UFC 279 Diaz vs Chimaev I am really questioning their bookings of some of their biggest stars. Straight retarded.
 
anyone catch ONE today? fun card, but geez, how good is reinier de ridder? 16 - 0, and a double champ. just beat vitaly bigdash (a former champion) in a round one submission, after getting out of a pretty dangerous guillotine himself.
for my money he's one of the best fighters outside of the UFC, up there alongside robocop soldic. i never see anyone talk about him online though; at least robocop has a lot of fans, but it seems like few people ever talk about RDR. i wonder why that is. he's definitely not a boring fighter? maybe it's because ONE mainly has asian fans, and the mma spheres i visit are mostly populated by westerners?

i wonder how he'd fare in the UFC against people that are perceived to be "the best"

I think it's just mostly the fact that his weight divisions have been incredibly weak in Asia, at least since the late 00s. There's definitely talent but it's hard finding consistently good opposition. Especially since the European scene has exploded beyond the days of Cage Rage being the premier event.

That being said, I honestly think De Ridder is a top 10 talent for sure.
