Turner looked really good and in my mind, he should be booked against Tsarukyan next. Tsarukyan is coming off a controversial loss, he's rated highly. Turner is coming in with a lot of hype after smoking Riddell, match them up and the winner gets into the top 10.

He's been very salty over everyone calling his fight with Cannonier shit. He's going to do the same thing with Pereira and let this guy hang around for 25 minutes. Can't shake the feeling that he's going to do a Leon Edwards of outpointing Pereira, and then late get absolutely fucked up when Pereira figures out how to land on him,
 
still have not emotionally recovered from seeing my boy max getting so thoroughly surpassed. volk is a god, man. i wish the ufc would promote him more, because as it stands he still seems to be someone that a casual fan might not know about, compared to other champs like izzy or charlie.

what fights on the upcoming card are decent? as a whole, the card seems a little meh to me. the only fight i'm personally interested in is Said Nurmagomedov's match. that dude is really one to look out for. i hope the other fights are good!

Main Card is pretty good apart from the Chase Sherman fight. Caio Borralho really impressed me with his debut when he dominated the fuck out of a dagestani wrestler if I remember right, so looking forward to that too.

I don't want to sound like a prick but have you watched both of their fights? If you're being unbiased it's pretty clear he got robbed in the first fight. With the second, Izzy was piecing him up until he got reckless and got caught with the left hook.

I want Izzy to lose just as much as you, but there's a real possibility of him point fighting to another decision.

Poor RDA.


Fight is being a slow and grindy, Fiziev isn't hitting with his usual hardness all fight, RDA finally seems to have had his momentum shift where Fiziev looks tired and he gets his first true, proper takedown and holds Fiziev down. And then, Fiziev comes out in round 5 and actually decides to seriously uncork his punches for the first time in the fight and immediately knocks him down and out. Not late either, another angle shows the second punch basically put him out for a second.

Also Fiziev has changed nationality from Kyrgyzstani to Azerbaijani after the government/people found out he's a Shia and began sending death threats to him and his family. Apparently moved them all out to the majority Shia country of Azerbaijan and got nationality from his father's side.

edit, so as not to double post: i just rewatched the strickland v poatan fight, cuz ngl im very hyped to see him fight izzy again.
i have a feeling izzy might retain the strap, but moreso than anything, what i noticed in rewatching that fight is just how fucking dumb sean was. for alex that fight couldnt have been easier, it was like a hot knife through butter. sean came in with the absolute worst gameplan i have seen. no head movement, hands low, it's a wonder he ever got so high ranked. what was he thinking?
sean loves to talk such hot shit, if you took his 'psycho' routine at face value, you'd assume this dude must fight like the fucking wolverine. people give adesanya shit for the contrast between his flashy peronslity/entrances, and his boring fights, but sean is that time 1000.

"one time i didn't get into a fight at a traffic light and i got so mad i think about it everyday grrr, i always wanna fight!!" what would you have done? pointfighted him to death?

Kyrgyzstan's a shithole, and it's only gotten worse since Batken. Good on Fiziev for cutting ties, and hopefully he can get his family out too.

Poor RDA tho, he didn't deserve that loss

What's really stupid is what set it all off. I believe he was sharing videos of him and his family on holiday, one of which was a trip to Karbala in Iraq, and in one of those videos he off handedly said something like "wow, this an amazing city, to me it's the most sacred/holy city after Mecca and Medina". To Sunnis, that place means nothing, to Shias, it is an important holy city.

That was enough for him to be sent hundreds of death threats, and even some by post to his former home. A lot of them written to his wife as well. That was enough to renounce his citizenship and claim Azerbaijani citizenship through his father (father is Azerbaijani, mother is Russian, born in Kyrgyzstan). Of course, the thought of having a top athlete representing Azerbaijan was too good to pass up, so he got it.

Hope it doesn't bite him in the ass, with Azerbaijan's proximity to Ossetia and Chechnya, and their recent clash with Armenia. I know he lives in Thailand right now, but imagine him and Khabib duking it out on the battlefield

That's gonna be a hell of a fight. I hope Oliveira wins, but I think Islam takes it. Normally I don't give in to hype trains, but man, Islam seems legit as it gets

On a side note, the undercard was pretty good too, especially the Ricky Simon/Jack Shore fight.
