Good gosh sterling is fucking annoying. You win the undisputed title and beat the guy who called you an overrated coward for a year and we all get to hear about 50 cents' shitty movies? Can't deny he executed his plan well in rounds 2 and 3,but its hard to get behind a guy winning based on that alone and getting chased around round 1.

Thanks for the money Sterling

I hope he gets into 50 cent's movie. Sounds like a dream of his. Go live your fuckin dream man

Zombie about to beat down that Australian cunt

That was the most depressing title fight I've seen since Ferguson-Gaethje, and even Ferguson had moments. This felt like a fight at the Apex with how quiet the crowd went. You could hear everything. Volk's punches, his corner yelling advice. This was like watching someone take out the family favourite dog and shoot it again and again. To top it off, he and his wife break down in tears after the fight in the ring.

Aljochads can't lose :cunningpepe:
Aljo has just managed to create even more salt amongst the Yan fanbase. Not only did he become undisputed, but it was a split decision (which shouldn't be the case, round 1 was a lot of Yan swinging and missing and getting touched by leg and front kicks). MMA twitter is seething hard now. Calling Dillashaw out is a brilliant move because everyone loves to hate Dillashaw for doping, so Aljo is going to be the "hero" in that narrative. I didn't think Aljo would win against Yan, but if he pulled it off, he should be given maximum credit for it. Dude went 2/22 on his takedowns, but fuck me when he got those two, he made the most of them.

Burns vs Chimaev is easily FOTN and thankfully one where we get to learn a lot about Chimaev. Mainly that he has one hell of a chin, and no head movement. Burns annoyed me by always throwing the same shit again and again, with maximum force while his coach is screaming for body punches. The result? He's gassing by round 3.

Edit:
Lol, Dana White is salty that Yan didn't win.

Should have been a corner stoppage Zombie was to tough for his own good.

Even Volk in the post fight presser said after round 3 he felt bad for Zombie and thought it should have been corner stopped, and even asked him at the start of round 4 whether he was sure he wanted to continue. Corner stoppages need to be normalised. Zombie in all likelihood got 10-8ed several times and badly hurt. No need to continue in the hope that he's going to land one special counter that wins him the fight.

Fuck me but Rogan is annoying as fuck. Going into hysterics any time Burns landed on Chimaev. "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

Also, elite level commentary from the desk with all 3 of them completely missing the illegal kick attempt by Burns at the end of round 2 that caused the bit of argy-bargy after the bell.

Volkanovski looks unbeatable man. So fast. And he's fucking impossible to submit, à la Ortega. Max is my fucking boy of boys, but I don't know if he beats him. If the same Max who beat Kattar shows up, then yeah. But you can't beat Volk with anything less. Guy is fucking immortal rn. If Max doesn't beat him, I see him going down as one of the GOATs

ETA: so i don't double post, Rogan, Anik and Paul are like the worst combo for commentary imo. No chemistry at all. then again, i'm in the (seeming) minority of people who likes DC's commentary, so maybe i'm just weird lol

Rogan's commentary is fine when he doesn't have bias towards fighters, but if he does, everything they do is overplayed him and anything the other person does is downplayed.

Rogan has been garbage for years and the three man booth sucks in all sports.

Aljo's fight with Yan highlighted three fatal flaws with Yan's striking style...

1. Overreliance on kicking and checking
2. A tall stance
3. a tendency to shift into southpaw while punching

...all of which make you very vulnerable to takedowns. If Yan stood behind his jab and cross, widened his stance, avoided switching hitting, and used uppercuts to disincentivize takedowns, he would've done a much better job, but of course, this isn't exactly his style. Although his hand speed and technique is crisp, his striking style has very clear Muay Thai influence.

By the way, the speed at which Aljo can shoot for takedowns is nothing short of incredible. We're talking about a guy who went for a single leg off of Yan's leg kick at one point. Also, it's interesting to see how much you open yourself to takedowns if you go southpaw against an orthodox opponent, which is how Sterling got the takedown in round 2.

Still shucked off 20/22 attempts by Aljo. It's just that when Aljo got those 2 takedowns, he really made them count.
