He is really good. Never understood the crying over his Chito decision, just saw it as one of many close fights where the more active guy got the nod.

Think he beats O’Malley?

Good question. I'd put my money on Yadong by UD, 29-28.

O'Malley keeps his hands low and relies on his jab to keep distance, so Yadong can throw counter overhands as he does that, just like he did versus Moraes. Yadong can also block high kicks, which will allow him to pressure O'Malley even more until he's up against the fence.

Despite O'Malley and Yadong's hand speed being almost the same, Yadong has better fundamentals because he keeps his guard up. His head movement could be better though, and speaking of head movement, O'Malley is definitely much better at that than Yadong, which is a concern since O'Malley can use this to tire him and potentially steal one of the rounds, since Yadong does overextend a little bit.

But yeah, given what I remember seeing from both guys, I can say it'll be somewhat close, but it will go to Song.

Pereira by left hook knockout or Strickland by pitter-patter decision?

Hoping for Pereira so we actually get something interesting in this division. Outside Cannonier, who might pose some questions with his comparative reach, willingness to leg kick and one punch power, nothing interesting at all for Adesanya.
---
Edit: Finally, we fucking have a clear title contender for Flyweight that isn't Moreno or Figgy. Kai got the win over Askarov. He's next, the only other guy really after him is Pantoja, which would be a fun fight between any of the top 4.

Strickland is going to have a very tough time with Pereira, to be quite frank. Strickland relies almost exclusively on his jab, which is something Pereira can easily counter with his overhand right.

Honestly, I imagine the Strickland fight playing out almost exactly the same way as the one with Silva. Pereira pieces up Strickland with superior hand speed, and the only thing Strickland can do is get some control time against the fence and probably some on the ground, given the fact that Pereira goes off balance sometimes. After all that, Pereira picks up another UD.

Very smart fight for the UFC to make, considering that a win over Strickland puts Pereira in a position to fight Cannonier (someone Pereira wants to fight) or Adesanya (the obvious banger)

The number of people I have seen saying Strickland is hard to hit...how? He stands square and straight up, you can jab him up all you want. Just because Hermansson sucks at striking and Hall is easily bullied shouldn't be an indication of how good he is. It's basically the fight to make since he utterly fucked up the gimme fight against Hermansson they gave him to make himself look good and go psycho, and he instead has this jabbing heavy performance where he gets a scraping split decision, so it's clear the UFC have given up on him and are giving him to Pereira.

So apparently ben Rothwell has been released from the UFC depsite having a fight booked for next month. Definitely something fucky going on here. the leading speculation I've seen is that he may have pissed hot again, and asked to be released to avoid the suspension However I'm not sold on that argument because
a)why would the UFC risk the bad press to let him out of his contract and try to dodge a suspension, especially since they've deliberately kept others under contract to stop them going and fighting in places that don;t give a shit about USADA violations

b)Getting released/retiring doesn't actually get you out of USADA's jurisdiction if you popped while under it:
Any Athlete, Athlete Support Person, or other Person who commits an Anti-Doping Policy
Violation while subject to this Anti-Doping Policy shall remain subject to this Anti-Doping
Policy for purposes of results management and Consequences (to the extent applicable)
after the relationship which originally gave rise to UFC’s or USADA’s authority has ceased.

Do you think he beats Burns? I thought he was overhyped until his last fight against The Leech, seeing him absolutely manhandle that guy. That performance was crazy.
Burns is something else though, he is super good. Khamzat can beat him, but no way he can get out untouched like in his last 4 fights, right? I think Khamzat'll win but i don't think it will be easy.

It's a former lightweight and not very big welterweight against someone who should be at middleweight. Yeah, he probably will beat Burns. The Leech fight I see as a kinda gimme considering Leech is Chinese and trains in a Chinese camp, not having great grappling. Helped a lot by Leech loading up on the biggest right hand he could to try and knock Khamzat out. He passed the test very well.

By all indications he's a monster in the gym, enough that the UFC knew of him when Gustaffson was the biggest thing out of that gym a few years back. He should beat Burns.

My heart says Burns but my dick says Khumzhot. I know Burns is good but Chimaev has prime Jones/Conor-like special aura around him, I hope he just run through Burns for the sake of hype/fun.

......meanwhile, some recent good ONE fights are free to watch now. ONE has excellent cards here and there (especially muay thai fights with OFG), it's a shame they are basically irrelevant in the west. Aoki had been vocal about avenging Sakuraba's "loss" for quite sometime (even though another guy knocked the fuck out of Akiyama already).

one X, their most recent card was absolute fucking kino. i really like one, lowkey they're probably the best kickboxing promotion out there, better than K1 and glory (saying this as a big fan of glory lol). their mma is great too, i'd be interested to see how someone like reinier de ridder (double champ in one) would fair against top talent from the ufc.
so yeah one is hella underrated.

5 to 1 odds and people suddenly forget Burns was the number 2
Newbie question here. Is there a reason(other than high weight class) why Sterling-Yan isn't the headline fight?
Volkonovski is higher in the P4P than Aljo

Amazing fight. 2-1 for chimaev was the right call. He’s definitely having another fight before he gets a title shot.
Chimaev had a great fight. earned me a bit of money too so that's nice
Lets hope Aljamain takes the next one.

I think Usman is feeling a lot less scared about fighting Chimaev. Hype gone for me now, great fight though.
