Since we are approaching the last UFC fight of the year and coming into 2022, here are two images of what the rankings looked like in 2015, and what a complete change around has happened in 7 years.

Really weird looking back at this list and knowing how that list has changed since then. Probably be saying the same thing in another 5 or so years from now.

Just feels surreal looking at this and knowing that no one in Flyweight other than Smolka is going to be in the UFC, Aldo would be in the Bantamweight top 3, Oliveira would be Lightweight champion, the current Featherweight, Welterweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight kings would be people off the radar/unheard of, Glover and Pena would be champ, and a whole new division purely to give Shevchenko a belt would be made.

It's the reason we love the sport right?

The absolute fucking state of some UFC fighters at the weigh ins. Sijara Eubanks missed weight again. Macy Chiasson missed the FW badly, even if it is short notice, and some dude missed the fucking HW limit. I mean some absolute fat fucks have still managed to hit the limit and apparently this is the first time anyone has offically missed at HW in the UFC.

Looks like Tafa the fatty is going to keep his job after missing the HW limit.

"Bad Man" Tafa doesn't care about your double forearm guard. Take that head kick.

Edit: Pretty good night of fights all things considered.

Edit 2: We now have a new king of KOs. Silly that he was the betting underdog here considering the number of times Daukaus ate a left hook against Abdurakhimov and the small cage.

So now that 2021 is over for UFC fights, favourite moments, dumbest moments?

Dumbest moment has to be Yan giving away his belt by throwing the illegal knee. That has stalled the division and the belt for a year at least.

Seeing the potato nigger break his foot and have his downfall is probably a highlight, same with Jones finally passing the point where almost no one can stan for him by beating his wife.

The in ring rise and fall of Jan Blachowicz was something, going from his peak of handing Adesanya his first loss to looking like absolute shit against Glover. Oliveira coming out on top this year and putting to rest the "uncrowded king Dustin" narrative was good. We have a lightweight champ unconnected to Khabib.

Good:
  • Ortega locking in subs on Volk, and Volk managing to escape. I'm not particularly a fan of either guy, but I was on the edge of my seat.
  • "I'm the best boxer in the UFC!"
  • Jose Aldo
  • Chimaev insta-winning even after a year layoff because of COVID
Dumb in an annoying way:
  • Interim heavyweight belt
  • Whatever Paulo Costa was trying to pull during the lead up to the Vettori fight
Dumb in a funny way:
  • Tyron Woodley
  • Herb Dean stopping the Sean O'Malley-Kris Moutinho fight at the most controversial moment possible
  • Ryan Hall impotently flopping at Ilia Topuria while Joe Rogan lectures the audience on how great Hall is
  • McGregor throwing a tantrum during Poirier's post fight interview

Best performance of the year was Holloway against Kattar. Fight of the year is a little difficult because most of the fights that stuck in my mind were fairly one-sided. I'm going with Dillashaw-Sandhagen for now Chandler-Gaethje.

What are your guys most anticipated future fights for 2022?

Also who do you think remains the champ by the end of year in each weight division?
Hard to say. Adesanya vs Whittaker 2 is one I'm looking forward to. If Adesanya gets through Rob, pretty good odds that he remains champ for the rest of 2022. Same can be said of Ngannou if he gets through Gane.

Bantamweight, pretty sure Yan claims it and maintains. Flyweight, featherweight and lightweight are fluid, hard to say if any keep their belt.

Welterweight depends on whether age starts to catch up to Usman and matchups. He's going to be 35 in May, but Welterweight is a slow division with almost no movement amongst the top. Expect the UFC to push Chimaev and give him a path to the top.

Light Heavyweight is going to transition from Glover to one of the 3 younger fighters. Either Jiri (likely), Rakic or Ankalaev. Could end up being a decent year for LHW with all 3 of those guys matching up at some point.

Prazeres, 40, tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolites (desethyl-clomiphene, clomiphene M1, and clomiphene M2), oxandrolone metabolites, and the exogenous administration of testosterone and/or its precursors as the result of urine samples collected out-of-competition on August 27, 2021, September 16, 2021, October 15, 2021, and November 2, 2021.
I suppose if you're gonna go out, might as well go out big. Also fucking lol at this bit:
“I told [USADA] everything. I said my wife and I were doing treatment to have another baby,” Prazeres said. “This is not a steroid, this is a medication. They interviewed me, my wife and my doctor, they took all the receipts and medical records, the exams I’ve done, and these sons of b-tches still do that?”
“USADA is a b-tch, it’s a wh-re,” Prazeres said. “They punish the person as they please.”
I mean he's technically right about it being a fertility medication, except it's one designed for women to help with ovulation issues.

The matchups that you don't think of but make sense when brought to your attention are the ones I love the most.

That chain of highlight head kick KOs is going to come full circle. Buckley->Di Chirico->Alhassan->Buckley. Basically this all depends on whether Abdul Razak Alhassan gets an early spastic knockout. If he does, he wins. If he doesn't, he loses. I don't think Alhassan has ever won a fight where he hasn't sparked the opponent out in the 1st round.

The upcoming heavyweight title fight should be fun. If Gane can avoid getting knocked out by Francis in the first round he’ll probably run circles around him for five rounds.

I don’t know why the UFC didn’t immediately book Chimaev vs. Edwards for a #1 contender fight in January/February after Masvidal pulled out of the fight with Edwards. Chimaev and Edward’s were supposed to fight in 2020 before they were both kissed by coof.

Because Edwards said no thanks, I'm waiting for my title shot.

Career mismanagement and Leon Edward. Name a better pair. To be fair to him though, waiting around worked for Masvidal and Colby when it came to them getting their title shots. Problem is that no one knows or cares about Edwards enough to put him in a title fight.

If I was him I would be gunning for the Belal rematch.

Edit: Looking through UFC 270 the card overall looks weak imo. The only interesting fights are the main event. Evolev and Topuria if you like grappling, and then maybe Jack Della Madalena having his first UFC fight after coming off the contender series. They have trash like Greg Hardy against Alexei Oleinik which is likely going to be main card, which is going to be either a slow old man grappling for one round and getting a shitty HW meme choke before gassing, Hardy knocking him out, or both gassing and doing a trash 3 round fight. They also have trash like Wellington Turman on the card, who couldn't finish Sam Alvey and almost through it away by constantly eyepoking. Moreno vs Figgy isn't interesting since that last fight seemed so definitive in how bad Figgy looked, and it means there is no movement in that division.

So apparently Mark Hunt has been ordered to pay the UFC $400k in legal fees to cover the bits of his dumbass lawsuit that were thrown out. Hunt, being Hunt, took this with grace and poise immediately challenged Dana and the Fertittas to a fight. I like Hunt, and I enjoyed his career but dude is a fucking dumbass.

So bad news, this fight is reported to be off the card because Alhassan has pulled out for undisclosed reasons. Good news is they're looking at rebooking it on a future card rather than giving Buckley a short notice replacement.

This explains why he has little to no head movement, and probably why he fights like a loon. Can't slip and counter well if you can't see your opponent. Makes his turnaround and championship win/reign all the more impressive.

Hunt is seriously batshit insane. Supposedly once he was playing Call of Duty or something and someone challenged him to a fight, so he drove to their house only to find out it was a 12 year old boy lol.

Can't tell if it's the Aussie blood or the result of a lifetime of head trauma.
