Bigger upset than Serra vs. GSP?

Pena was spamming the jab and it kept landing.

wtf just happened
Nunes reverted back to form after years of coasting, gave up once she faced adversity and became tired. The punching was fucking comical. Pena is chicken winging and arm punching, and jabbing Nunes every time she loaded up a punch.
AHHH WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR DEFENSE NUNES? WHERE IS THE HEART? YOU BEAT SHEV TWICE BUT LOSE TO PENA?
Turns out beating Nunes requires a Vettori tier mindset. Shevchenko is incapable of doing that.
I can't believe Julianna fucking Pena is the one to dethrone Amanda Nunes. What the actual fuck?
I'm just glad this likely kills all calls for a 3rd Nunes-Shevchenko fight. That 2nd one was dogshit.

I'd like to see Doostin win so he can get a 25 million dollar payday for wrecking a shot Conor again in July then retire.
I don't see them giving Conor the title shot if Dustin wins tonight, it'll probably go Gaethje first, then the winner of Makachev and Dariush

Dustin was winning until cheating Charles blatantly cheats for like 10 seconds while Herb Dean lets it happen.

prepare for sadness
Lol, get fucked.
NGL, Wanted Dustin to win, but after how he conducted those second and third rounds, nah, don't feel too bad for him.

That motherfucker just won "best ref" award as well. Fucking useless. Not surprised, Brazilians always cheat.

going got tough and like all brazilians he had to cheat

And Herb Dean just let it happen. The only reason Dustin did that weird roll in round 2 is because his glove was grabbed and he couldn't slip the arm out. That nigger should not be reffing big fights anymore, he is the most inconsistent referee there.
How the fuck does Herb Dean win best ref anyway? Dude's been consistently terrible for what seems well over a decade now.
Because the awards are a fucking joke. Herb is pretty much the in house ref now. There are times, especially in big fights where I think he's been slipped some paper and told to ignore certain fouls (see- every Conor glove grab foul).

Edit: Got a rip of the grab, doesn't seem so egregious as it was live. Seems like he hooked it, then unhooked, then hooked again once the roll started. Dustin still made some seriously dumb grappling decisions in this fight. Not fighting hands in that 3rd round when it was clear Oliveira was going for a rear naked and he only tried peeling the hand once Oliveira basically had it near locked up. Doesn't change that Herb Dean should suck dick and retire.

It's just funny after all the years Dana White called out Mazzagatti and Miragliotta for being terrible when Herb Dean is just as much of a retard as they were. It's even more egregious considering the fact that motherfucker actually fought, albeit unsuccessfully.

Hope Frank Trigg keeps getting work and more accreditation. Would love to see more former fighters work their way into being refs and judges.

Mazzagatti, Yamasaki and Tan Dan are terrible, but they are terrible in the same way. You know that Mazzagatti and Yamasaki are going to be slow as fuck to jump in. Herb is just terrible all around now. Sometimes he jumps in too late, other times he jumps in way too early, other times he touches the fighter wanting to call it off but then sees that the other fighter isn't as badly hurt so he doesn't call it off. Sometimes he's too zealous with stopping the action over fouls, other times he doesn't do anything, especially and conveniently when Conor is involved.

The worst part about him though, above everything else, is his absolute refusal to admit that he fucked up. His decision was "ackshually the right one", but he never explains why. Herzog was the referee for Smith-Teixira last year, and came out and admitted he fucked up by letting that go on too long instead of jumping in. Herb Dean will never do that. He has this almost black stereotypical "not my fault" mentality. That's the worst part for me, because it shows a refusal to accept mistakes and look to improve on them, which might explain why he is so terrible.

Thoughts, best PPV of the year?

The only one that comes close is Usman vs Covington 2 in my opinion.
In terms of having an electric feeling and probably capturing the zeitgeist of 2021, Usman vs Masvidal 2. First live event a year after everything stopped from Corona, Weidman breaking his leg, Rose getting the high kick finish, Usman putting Masvidal to sleep and following with some "super necessary" shots. Nothing interesting in terms of "good fights" but just crazy, electric moments and finishes one after the other, on the first crowded event in a year.

In terms of good fights overall...hard to say. Volkanovski vs Ortega as a main event is probably still my title fight/main event of the year, but the rest of the card was objectively trash, with Blaydes and Frozenstruik, an out of shape Nate Diaz and Valentina taking way too long to finish Murphey.

Probably have to agree that overall Usman vs Covington 2. Don't think there was a terrible fight on that PPV and the only WMMA fight was the one with Rose and Weili, which was good/interesting. Maybe Jan vs Glover since it had Yan vs Sandhagen, but then there were also gimme fights like Chimaev-Leech and Islam-Hooker, and the event slowed to a crawl thanks to heavyweights. Blachowicz vs Adesanya also wasn't too bad fight wise IIRC.
