I've got a theory.

People growing up as snowflakes believing they're the main character protagonist of their lives since everyone including their parents and teachers just told them how special they were nonstop. Meanwhile they've also never experienced any real hardship or trauma, or even anything particularly interesting at all, so they have zero life experience to pull from when coming up with ideas for anything or fleshing characters and worlds out in detail. In addition to that, when you consider how these are people in their 30s(and sometimes early 40s) continuing to act like spoiled brat teens, there's likely also a bit of never growing up(like some kind of peter pan syndrome shit) but that still ties back into never having to actually deal with shit like an adult because the most difficult crap they've ever had to overcome was arguing on twitter with people and eventually fleeing to bluesky. Even further, because they don't have any actual friends and seemingly little experience in the workforce, they have no idea how interpersonal relationships work and that shows in their writing as well.

There's still one more factor even after all of that. If you've ever noticed how these consoomers who like this sort of slop love identity politics, but always want to take everything a step further so they can play a videogame or watch a show with characters that is as a close of a reflection of themselves as possible, their brains can't handle fiction where the main character isn't "them". Now whether this is some kind of tism, or a result of the previously mentioned stuff I don't know, but it absolutely applies to the consoomers of this shit and also explains why the audience is always small no matter how loud they try and bitch about "muh inclusion"

This same BS applies to practically every form of media these days. Movies, TV, comics, videogames, books, and so on. It gets even worse of course when they take over an existing IP, because they can't come up with anything on their own and shit it up so badly that no one wants to view it at all anymore.

He knew Mass Effect was an RPG, but didn't think to actually look at his stats, or spend talent points during his playthrough for the review and admits the talent tree is just in the squad menu that he apparently never looked at until enough people wrote and emailed in to complain. Oh right, he also only played it for 8 hours.

Yet somehow he had a career after this, and of course continued his fuckups.

This game quality and self-awareness are on the level of a person who will hand out their mixtapes to you unsolicited.
Also, why is it so faggy? This is the type of mixtape that came out in the 90s.

They have a taboo against virtuous characters because they are seen as cooperating with the system rather than the only moral right of rebelling against it.

It's why they all play chaotic good Tiefling that fuck everything that moves.

Completely agree. I've played enough games in my life that I can tell you "Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover" is a bullshit phrase in almost any and all circumstances.

I'm just more taken aback by the fact they have the gall to even call it a "game". It's a short film at best, not a video game.
 
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I surprisingly haven’t seen much that could be called woke? The only real examples I’ve seen are all the main characters being little delinquents, especially the Jewish or Asian girl wanting to “ride a flaming stallion of rebellion” against her cop dad for thinking the other two are a bad influence (and yet she gets all upset and starts drifting away from them when she gets grounded for TPing the principal’s house. Some punk). And honestly I can’t blame her because the blonde chick’s mom says “The pigs are here” when he comes to their door. Who wrote this shit?

Based on the trailers I was like 99% sure main bitch with her stupid fucking pseudo bowl cut was going to be a lesbian but she's surprisingly straight.

In fact I don't think there are any gay characters in this game or at least explicit ones.
