I wish Phantom Membranes could be made into armor that gives an inherent speed boost & increased jump distance.

Would make intentionally spawning them have a purpose for people that want Swiftness II on a permanent basis.

The thing is that Phantoms are not just annoying, they are basically useless.
First, they’re so annoying Mojang added an item specifically to bypass them by sleeping without resetting your spawn point. Not to mention working on a build and getting knocked off a scaffold because you dared to not sleep for a bit.
They also don’t drop anything that’s useful until you reach the Nether and even then slow falling potions aren’t exactly mind-blowing. And then you have to beat the dragon for the wings that the membranes fix until you get the wings enchanted with mending. So, you have a long while of dealing with these pests for literally no benefit, and then when you reach the point where you get a benefit from fighting them it’s incredibly underwhelming.

it's already been too long in the game for them to care, and every new version cement that shit into place until "it's always been there bro, if you don't like it you just don't like minecraft"
I remember the Phantom being so majorly disliked when it came out, no one liked it. They have literally 0 use and their drops offer even less use. (Muh elytra, who fucking cares).

"You can just disable doInsomnia, dumb dumb, problem solved! It's now a major part of Minecraft" - Yeah, amazing, dickhead. Nevermind that this bloats the game to a ballooning size. No one wants a fucking Phantom plush. No one likes these things, no one. But Nujang is so averse to removing anything that it'll rot forever more in the code, continually being hated forever. These flying niggers have been ignored for 7 fucking years now, not even Nujang cares.

I feel like if they let it shit up their game, make it worth the while by having phantoms drop something useful in most stages of the game. But then again, the question is what would be a believable drop, and something that is still useful? I thought of giving it a low chance to drop ender pearls, but you would need something for it to drop almost every time you kill one, no one wants to kill these guys for ender pearls when you can hunt endermen and have an easier time than wasting a bunch of arrows. The phantom is such a hard mob to make practical, it still confuses me why they keep it.

We could've gotten a unique hostile underwater mob in place of the phantom, which reminds me... make squids hostile. Drowneds are slow and only threatening when they have a trident (which is rare to come by and is pretty unfair sometimes), and other """hostile""" underwater mobs are insignificant. The ocean shouldn't be terrifying, but it should be a threat, similar to the real world and real survival. It's too easy for people to sail across the seas and loot sunken ships and abandoned portals, if you make squids do some shit like pull you towards them and chomp on your head if you're underwater, that would be a nice balance. There's so many cool ideas Mojang could do, but they choose not to so they don't piss the fragile community off, and so they can satisfy big Microsoft by pushing the game's direction towards everyone (meaning women and children).

bro we play 1.12.2-1.7.10.png
Yet still, all the Beta modding autism should be funneled into creating a replacement for Risugami's Modloader that doesn't require modifying minecraft.jar whenever a mod requires it and resolving any .class file conflicts. Not another "Beta but with nuMinecraft BS backported" faux-nostalgia mod. I want to relive the Beta modding days without the pain of Beta modding days.

Mango Pack implements every classic mod with patches and bugfixes to make them compatible into beta 1.7.3

Not to mention that Mending makes standard repairs obsolete by circumventing the gay repair limit.
Phantoms absolutely should've never been added.
Speaking of what Mojang could be doing instead of adding useless gay ass mobs, how about fixing the terrible systems that are already in the game? I don’t even need to elaborate on enchanting/repairs, the main one I have a beef with is actually food and potions.

Food as it is, is a chore mechanic, it adds nothing to the game except to force you to waste a hot bar slot and right-click it every once in a while to keep a bar filled, lest you move slower and eventually starve to death. Food should be a carrot, not a stick. Add more food items, divide them into tiers based on how complex the recipe is, and have every food give a long-lasting buff. Low-tier foods can give a slight movement speed buff for 5 minutes, high tier foods can give bigger buffs (or combinations of buffs) that last an entire Minecraft day. Instead of a hunger bar make it a fullness bar that limits how many of these buffs you can stack at a time - when you eat a food item, it stays in your hunger bar until the effect wears off.

Potions can synergize into this system by providing stronger, but shorter duration effects that do not eat into your hunger bar which stacks on top of food effects. The potion system should really just be overhauled in general, I’d love to see more complex recipes.

Time and development effort are a zero-sum game, every man-hour they spent making the fucking Sniffer is a man-hour not spent on improving the content already IN the game. And by god is there a lot to improve.

So you go back versions to pre-b1.7.3 where it simply just regenerated your health, easy.

Vintage Story sounds more up your alley if you want super deep mechanics.

it's not even them liking it, you just see vaguely pastel pink and blue and get in a tizzy.
i mean, there is enough proof of trannies going out of their way to do their own identity shit to be recognized, dog whistling i guess? i still memba that egg cracking shite.
Yes, shitty new versions and additions damages the game's identity and thus deviates from its roots further and further
It makes it increasingly worse and increasingly frequent that the next additions are gonna be bad.
i'd kill to have 1.12.2 as optimized as 1.20 is natively, shieet, go down to 1.7.10, being able to run it on java 21 would make it faster and better at handling shit instead of the ancient java 8 but mojang would do that? fuck no.
What is all of their purpose? A lot of their design philosophy is slowly phasing out of being "blocky" and now into that weird detailed mod-like look that's too modernish for the game.
just quirky chungus shit they feel like doing which might not connect to the game in anything other than decor.

Best i can do is a backport of Fagric that's such turbopozzed niggercode that you're better off fighting with Risu's unless you want fagflags infesting every mod you use and instability so bad it oneshots hardware components..

Spice of Life forks talk about this.

This is in progress but unfortunately those doing it are so fucking retarded that they intentionally break compatibility unless your mod is included in a pack named GTNH.
And hotkey assignment is STILL fucked.

I come back and it's ~2 pages of Microjang's strongest defender.
do you think we're going to run out of modpacks/all possible ideas would have been used, resulting in the same mechanics over and over?
Hard to say, there's probably a great many ideas that are left untapped but even already "tapped" ideas can be executed in different ways to feel fresh. For example, you have Pam's trannycraft and the Cooking for Blockheads (my beloved), now you have Farmer's Delight, Kaleidoscope, Caupona. We had boss mods, now we have Cataclysm, Qliphoth Awakening, and a bunch of others. Not to mention the combinations and configurations of these mods and especially modpacks that themselves can feel quite a bit different from one another despite the usage of similar mods. Me thinks we're good for a while now.
Oh cool, nice to see it's not abandoned. It's in 0.70 so I guess these past 2 years of silence was him working on it. I'm not too keen on space mods since they tend to be incredibly boring after the initial setup phase, but the atmosphere (pun intended) of this mod makes for some nice visuals so even if I don't plan on getting into it, since I'm a sucker for astronomy it might make its way into my packs (sounds paradoxical I know).

man i fucking wish the guys behind create had the balls to modify minecraft to the point it breaks compatibility with all existing mods, but adds global multithreading.
So stuff like Create Aeronautics doesn't start reaching 5TPS when you've got a whole 3 airships in the air while the server's got some 128-core threadraper
having a server with a few friends and figuring out the performance issues were some of the most blackpilling shit i've ever seen. You just CANNOT do a thing to help it because it's eternally stuck to
CPU 0: 105%
CPU 1: 25%
CPU 2: 2.5%
CPU 3: 6%
CPU 4-15 (combined): 0.5%

Or how like physics are stuck to the main thread too so any collisions can kill a sever because no matter how many cores you have it'll never use them because of some kind of retarded global routine it's required to be sandwitched between

Genuinely one of my biggest issues with (modded) MC. People talk about ram being the most important but really you're fucked if you have a CPU that has meh single core performance on certain mod setups. Hell even singular mods like the one you mentioned can rape your cpu.
