I only just discovered this thread, and after reading through most of the examples, I find myself genuinely disgusted by the sheer length some lunatics will go to in order to justify their insane theories.
For reference, my family have been dedicated pet-owners literally for generations. My grandparents owned a farm, and today we keep chickens, parakeets, zebra finches (which are currently breeding prolifically), dogs, cats and parrots. Several of our chickens are battery rescues, and I can safely say they have the most 'personality' of all our domestic fowl. Cruelty to animals actively revolts me, and several of our dogs have been rescued.
Despite that, I'm quite happy to eat meat, and regularly enjoy steak and other luxury meat products. I'm also happy to hunt the foxes that routinely try and kill our chickens, though I don't go so far as to try actively exterminating them. Veganism is a commendable ideology, but so-called militant veganism is provably destructive. What annoys me the most is that these type of tumblr fanatics are generally young white city-kids who have no practical experience of the countryside whatsoever. Their attitudes towards animals are painfully immature, and I personally wouldn't trust any of them with being able to take care of a concussed lemming, much less a dog or a cat.
Wow, I totally didn't mean for my first post here to be this aggressive in tone, but damn, militant vegans infuriate me on many levels. Spending most of your life obsessing over a kids' show is one thing, but indulging in reactionary self-hating animal-worshiping ignorance is the kind of stupidity that hurts rather than amuses.
