Oh, I know. Here in California there's locally sourced humane wool, as well as plenty of vegans.

As for honey, here's the thing. The bees make the honey, which fills the honeycombs. Which means they are literally flooding their house cell by cell with honey. When all their little apartments are full of honey they then have to move and start all over again with making a new hive, so it actually is a boon to them for the honey to be removed periodically.

It makes more sense to consider the hive as being the entity worthy of moral consideration here than the individual bees. The operation of a hive tends naturally to kill a certain number of bees and the hive remains healthy.

I know that I am going to incur a great amount of disgust for saying this, but I see no moral objection to using a human cadaver as food (provided they weren't murdered for that purpose). The reason we treat the dead in a ceremonial matter is due to the subjective "rules" imposed on us by our society. I do believe there are cultures which eat their dead for funerary purposes, just as we would bury or cremate ours. In fact, I find that the was we treat our dead by burying is abhorrent and wasteful.

I thought sheep had to be shorn, or else their wool would get out of control? (And don't they do it in the warmer weather, so they feel nice and cool? I would imagine it would feel good for a sheep to get all the nasty, tangled stuff gone)

It's not the haircut itself , its the way some of the jackasses shearing handle the animals . Throwing them around and generally mistreating them. Plus its a bit of a skill to gently wrestle a 200 pound animal to the ground and shave it without cutting it or ripping out chunks of fur.

Most professional shearers are pretty good about how they handle their animals though, because accidentally putting holes in your fleece when you shear a sheep is not just stupid, it's reducing the payout you get for the fleece (reduced quality, worth less $), and avoid harming the animals if they can. Sheep do have a tendency to occasionally still try to struggle when being shorn, which can lead to nicks and cuts though. Source: having worked briefly on a sheep farm in NZ, land of sheep.

Would it be off-topic to also bring up the subject of people who think it's "mutilation" to spay/neuter their pets? I don't know who originally propagated that little piece of bullshit propaganda but I want to find them and rip off their testicles so that they can't reproduce and spread their stupid into the gene pool.

EDIT: I should probably also mention that a lot of these people are also against vax'ing their pets. Because, you know, rabies and parvovirus is DEFINITELY something they can build up a natural immunity too. Retards.

A long time ago I read a book, I believe it was "Diet for a small planet" written by a nutcase "environmental vegetarian" named Frances Moore Lappé. In the book, the author said that while they were all for "natural" food, they claimed honey NOT natural, because, "honey is not a food made for Man, but for bees! Our greed for honey is causing a worldwide honey shortage." (This was written in 1971 IIRC) Any idiot who knows about other animals raiding bee hives (such as bears or birds) knows this reasoning is BS.

Furthermore, who gives a shit about drinking milk? You don't have to kill the animal to get the milk so why should it matter? You know what happens at a slaughter house? They buzzsaw the cow's throat open and let it stumble around in a ten square foot pen for thirty minutes while it bleeds out, now that's cruelty. It's a horrifying sight to see.
