Man this game sure loves insta-killing/insta-gibbing abilities.

I had a good comp; a butcher that spawns flies and a cleric that hurt whoever killed them, a stray with innate mini-me, and a druid that zoomed around the map and gave everyone shields.

Then the jungle boss ate my druid and a black hole ate my other 2 cats. Ended up with just the cleric who got probed by an alien (ANOTHER INSTAKILL ABILITY)

I believe all the Insta-Kills are a precaution if you stack up Constitution mutations and make all your cats essentially Tanks.
 
Have been slow rolling the game, took a stab at the Boneyard finally and got wiped at the very end of the Dybbuk fight. Took me too many turns to figure out how to deal with him, first time I saw the exhaustion mechanic pop up, couldn't end the fight in time. Tried to explain my seething to my friends on Discord, just for fun searched their Tenor gifs for any related to the game, found this:

Patch Notes: MEWGENICS 1.0.20695​

This patch is focused on major bug fixes and "easy" changes that are unlikely to cause secondary issues


QOL Changes:​

- Coin/Food/Item zoomers no longer prevent you from opening the backpack while they're animating

- Added "Limit Framerate" to video settings.

- "Tall" tiles now go semi-transparent when in tactical view

- Fixed item sort order upon returning from an adventure (one of the last changes pre-release was adding sort buttons to the in-combat inventory screen and this broke how they sorted upon returning home)

- If playing on steam deck, End Turn (Hotkey) is now bound to "Enter Key" by default instead of nothing. Should allow for some steam input config hacks for those who want to bind it to a back button easier.


Bug Fixes:​

- Fixed Copy Cat / Learn From Me being able to copy things other than spells in some cases

- Fixed Tina3's Mama Maggot and Familiar Korbee not having a portrait

- Fixed a certain very late game boss fight's summons running away when the boss died. In this particular case they weren't supposed to run.

- Fixed a few cases where an ability or passive icon in the UI would not update after being overridden by a new one (ex when using a Forbidden spell while already having 2 disorders)

- Fixed a minor odds issue related to how Stimulation affects a parent with a class passive but not a class active

- Fixed level spawn order to spawn static objects before familiars (This should fix a few cases where a familiar occupies a space a static object wants to be, causing it to spawn in a different place and sometimes blocking cats or enemies in)

- Fixed Eat Rock and Rock Crusher showing a tooltip for Petrify

- New idle animation for pet rock and pet boulder and fixed death gib

- Fixed the way Interchange interacts with Bonus Move and Bonus Attack

- Fixed a case where quitting after losing your last cat to a sacrifice event would cause a crash upon re-loading the save file

- Fixed a few flickering pieces in a cutscene

- Fixed amoebas being able to drop larger rocks partially off-map

- fixed a very late game enemy leaving an invisible corpse

- fixed Unscarred+ and Uncapped HP causing infinitely growing HP

- lowered the odds of seeing a variant version of one act 3 miniboss

- Added "texture_atlas_size" to settings file to allow for some configuration hacks for under-min-spec machines. Default is 4096. Note that lowering this will also require lowering "texture_scale_big" as well so larger textures can fit into the atlas. This will remain settings-file-only, no intent to add this to the options menu.

- Misc localization fixes
 
I'm only just getting to working through Act 2, and the bunker's theme is the best one yet. Very impressed on the whole with the game's soundtrack, though the couple-to-few songs about fucking the cat are a bit uhhhhhh
 
I just found out you can kill the boss chub and nub very quickly but it's a situational thing. If you can get them facing each other with their butthole mouths and attack one of them in the side or back, it will cause a endless chain of them attacking each other until one is dead and the other at sub 8 health.

I'm sure a lot of people already knew this, but still very funny and interesting to me.

Conversely you quickly find out the hard way to never attack them while one of your cats are in front of either.
 
Flower - Looks unassuming, until you realise that flower tiles give you regen AND 50% dodge chances. Pair with wet for maximum synergy.
Get the rain hat and the water bottle:

And he just walks around leaving free flower tiles. The biggest downside is it's a fire hazard.

Speaking of, I beat dybbuk thanks to fire strats.
 
One hour in and I can tell this was made by deeply disturbed losers. I've always avoided binding of isaac for the same reason. It's hard to sit through.
The kind of people who complain about modern games shoving "muh realism" into the stories because games are suposed to be an escape from reality are the same ones that defend McMillen's need to shove fucked up shit like the Maisie fight. (and they most likely jorked it while reading Beserk)

Can we talk about how Cleric has insane mobility and damage output with the right abilities? That one dash attack ability that does as much damage and knockback as you healed is crazy (and it's doubled on upgrade, so you can heal enemies to damage them like fuckin crazy diamond) and don't get me started on the one that does bonus damage to wounded enemies, because you can spam that shit several times in a turn and shred bosses.
 
One fun thing I've spotted I haven't seen mentioned yet, putting bleed on queen hippo seems to instakill her before her timer runs out.

I'm only mid act-2 but re: necromancers, is there a fur mutation that lets you inherit necro stuff? Aside from soul link a lot of his status-related passives seem like they'd be insanely broken on other classes.
