I'm fine with waiting if it means avoiding another horrendously shitty game, which I'm guessing it was on track for before someone higher up realized and pull the plug. And Retro's involvement gives me considerable more confidence in it than I had before.
 
If Nintendo thought Federation Force was ok for release, then the original Prime 4 had to have looked really bad if they're starting over from scratch on it.
 
Wonder what kind of turd the original studio did that Nintendo had to nuke it with extreme prejudice

I know its different studios and different situations but I'd love to see what exactly they were working with when they scrapped it like they did with the Megaman game that Retro was working on

What Megaman game are you speaking of? Retro is a first party Nintendo studio.

Edit: Retro wasn't working on a new Mega Man. Armature, made up of ex-Retro employees, were working on one.

That game was a spin off/experiment attempt (which I though it was alright not amazing) that had no consequence if it was bad. Nintendo expects a Metroid Prime installment be another home run hitter that they doesn't want to blunder. I wonder if Nintendo tried to coerce the developer into suicide for the shameful attempt on their license?
 
What Nintendo has been doing with Metroid is the same Disney is doing with Star Wars.

Just kill the franchise.

The takedown of AM2R is shitty and the release of Federation Force at the worst timing possible is shitty too but to compare it with Star Wars is still miles apart.

On the other side we had a 3DS remake of Metroid II (which could explain the takedown of AM2R) and it put the franchise back on the map as well as the devs being upfront about their mistakes are something worth applauding.
