A lot of it comes down to "Nintendo fell to the DEI plauge like every other company" mentality all because of the same terrible localization since Treehouse was established (and the more obvious attempts at keeping largely lighter narrative tones throughout thier recent catalog), doing things like Type 1 and 2 that the rest of the industry followed before them, and more brownies can be seen in thier more recent output when human characters are involved (including letting you play as one in the games where you play as an avatar charatcer), said donations, and even givng any level of support to the actual LGBs out there (ya'know... so they can not leave themselves, just like any other employee by just treating them right), because they can point out these specific things that while bullshit and can tie into the "the media hates the idea of whitey/straighties having thier own stories" to varrying degrees...
Yeah a lot of those suck and for the real bad shit like forcing niggers or women to be front in center all the time, it should be called out, but with what we currently seen with Nintendo, is not as meaningful unless there's can be proven to be an actual incidous pattern, doubly so since many Post-N64 Nintendo stories is ethier some varriation of "The traditional "plot" that only exists as a means to get you to play the game at all" , or something that barely has two dimensional cause and effect, with third party partners being the ones that give actual stories, and VERY, VERY rarely you'll get a story that actually holds up to the same level of scrutiey that almost any other game with a competent story does from the Nintendo Brand in-house studios, and like you said before, Nintendo has astrict standard for how thier mainstay characters are portrayed, compared to the many studios that did get bit by the DEI bug like Volition, BioWare, Ubisoft, and 343i until they got canned five games more than they should have.
The last Switch1/2-era Mario game I cared to see footage for was Wonder and it's still save a fucking kingdom from Bowser plot instead of "Save Peach and therefore the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser"

Metroid is Samus dealing with the galatic catastrophe that lands on her power suit before she can rest from the last galatic catastrophe, often times caused by space pirates or the space government or has to resist whatever corruptive (or debilitating in rare cases) force she gets slapped with this time (while bullshitting reasons why she can't start with her entire kit each time), and Ravenous looks to be exactly the same even with the trailer not highlighting it's plot
The Pokemon games are basically rising up the rank stories of being "da best" with the box legendarries or some major pokemon doing thier box legendary or major pokemon thing for a sizable portion of it's runtime
And compared to the greatest hits of actual DEI-made games by some of the above studios where you can clearly tell that the story or in some case entire game exists only to push the agendas DEI is known for pushing if the fact that the women in those games were intentionally made ugly or forced fag characters or undertones, or ethier one outright having better roles than even the would be MC, or even outright character ruination to get to that point It's fuckin' quaint, even if arguably bad thing for the games themselves due to them hardley even trying to make good stories by comparison.
Chances are that if any official Metroid game came out today besides Other M, even with any of the complementary backstory about her being a part of the game you could see as a bonus, there would be people who would claim that Samus is a girlboss because she's capable of fighting the space pirate army as well as she does in the game or the "she was chosen to injected with a fuckton of the Bird Jesus genes over trying to do it with a small group", or in Fusion and MurcurySteam's original games' case, "She got injected with the bad species' DNA and lived"

Japanese law is increasingly requiring disclosure of ESG reporting and while until now (I think next year its mandatory) its been voluntary, Nintendo also uses it as a boasting platform, particularly with their employee retention numbers. Nintendo publishing a yearly report of their employee demographics, employee satisfaction, and factory carbon emissions is not exactly the same as nintendo coming out every year excitedly telling you about how they found a tranny to direct all their games or something.
