Any time a developer starts referring to their game as an "experience" you know you're in for some prime dogshit.

I never liked the retarded morality of the Metro series, and it seems we'll be reaching the rancid logical conclusion of that line of thought with the latest game.

It is funny how the devs thought they where going to have an easy win with the reddit crown because muh hekkin novoreich nazis lmfao. Interestinly though I cant decide if the train sequence in the trailer is meant to represent either: muh poor hekkin jews, or the gorillion ukrainian children that got sent to russia or whatever. Either way, novoreich is based for wanting to preserve a mutant free humanity, and the "wake up. wake up to pure nation. clean air, bright future" went incredibly hard for me and made the part where you get to fight with novoreich in last light so much more enjoyable in retrospect.
That's the thing. The "Nazis" in the Metroverse aren't even racially motivated. They just don't want any muties so they are more like the Enclave in that regard. Only reason why they have a Nazi aesthetic is that they can trace their roots to skinhead and neo-nazi gangs because of course skinheads and gangs pick edgy aesthetics to piss off their parents.

TBF that's the big twist of the first game that Artyom was just too retarted to notice.

E: actually am playing through 2033 right now and the game  really beats you over the head with it and still you canonically kill the Dark Ones. Maybe the book was more subtle, it's been a while since I last read it, but it's pretty comical.
To be fair, the dark ones are dangerous to humans even if not on purpose. To the degree that it's arguable that even if they were all good samaritans their mere existence is a threat to humanity.
Anything that mind rapes humans while trying to non violently warn or communicate with humans is inherently dangerous.

The Reich were also generic cannon fodder in the games, and suffered from "rocks fall, everyone dies" in the novels. But in Last Light they came off in a way better light than most of the other factions. Their leadership actually agrees to peace in the metro unlike the commies.
And the leader of the reich insults the commie leader for being a weak pawn to his own general.

They did. In the first game, the Commies shat on other people for being against "progress" and the Nazis shat on people for supposedly being genetically inferior. They're both authoritarian militarists who fight each other over who gets to be king of the ashes while everyone else is just trying to live their lives.
In Last Light you get captured by the Nazi faction relatively early on and after they give one of the guys in your prisoner group a skull exam they declare him a mutant and then kill him in front of you, and then the Commie helps you escape... and then betrays you afterwards while trying to rationalize his actions to himself over vodka.

So its just assholes all the way down, as far as I'm concerned.

The games give you some fun gunplay and then punish you with the bad ending if you actually use any of it. But at least they're smarter than the Spec Ops devs and at least give you the choice to do these things or not.

Exactly

metro exodus is horribly buggy.

Weird keyboard issues, like the game thinks im pressing keys when im not, and doesnt register key presses.
lighting issues. i had a part of my skybox turn into the kraken
save, load system is fucked and claims my saves are corrupted but they load just fine
and, the coup de grace, i had a hard crash just now that turned off my laptop.

i like the game, i just wish that i could play it....

got it on sale for 5$

double post

so, it turns out the bugs that i was experiencing was being caused by the steam overlay. turned that off. but now there are new problems.

The game runs like shit. My laptop is not the most powerful but it can run most games just fine. Steam tells me im getting 60 fps but it sure doesnt feel like it. I stutter constantly, and artyom feels like hes walking through molasses. the game misses frames because of the lag so the animations look real janky. turning down the graphics didnt help, nor did freeing up computer resources.

i hear that the game is a port to pc, which is no excuse but does explain some of the jank.

Idk, it was cute when 2033 was a little stiff, but i dont remember ever having problems like this. i kind of expected more.

>laptop
I found your problem.
did you at least turn off that retarded new "feature" that changes jackshit visually but takes up a lot of memory?
i'd name it but there's like a new one every two years

why does metro have this weird cult following? am i chatting with russians? what the fuck? people are defending an obviously shitty pc port because... what? muh nationalism?

For a while, it filled the stalker shaped hole in our heart and was pretty good. I love exodus and just getting lost in the Taiga level.

It and stalker showed things and covered things and talked about things that were unheard of in the west. Course nowadays it's a meme, an old meme, and their success was due to being the progenitors to that meme.

If it makes you feel better, my own shitty (2014) laptop could not even launch the game when it came out, no matter how much I left it sittibg there or how much I naively left it sitting there. So the game provably has a problem with integrated graphics or something.

I'm fairly certain in my marathon of the series, I had enough karma points to shoot the missile launcher and still decided not to. You see for yourself they drive everyone around them crazy, whether they want to or not. It's the opening scene of Last Light too. Who cares if they're misunderstood? Even in the good ending of LL, your kind cannot coexist. They fuck off back to their wasteland and stay there, hopefully never to return.
They can in theory live together, but like...just not with the current crop of humans. You have to be exposed early to the Dark Ones powers as a child to survive them as an adult. There are also certainly other tribes of Dark Ones out there. Novosibirsk has a few of them around the place, and there's the theory that the mutants that you can hear the thoughts of, are actually just the Dark Ones sharing the thoughts with you.

In the Long Term, you can probably live with them in the sense of sharing a planet, but like...the Dark Ones thrive in death field levels of radiation, and kill humans if they think at them too hard. You can't share space with them.

Anyway, calling it now: The main villain is you in the new game. They will use the Dark Ones to brainwash people, and you got mind wiped and woke up because of a dark one. That will be the twist. My $100 bet is on the table. Also, I can read roosky; and I read some of the other novels; they are truly dogshit bad lmao. Fallout tier material, completely undercuts the tone of the main series. You've got crab men, psychic humans, fish people, etc. Don't read them, they ruin the tone of the series completely. It sucks away all the uniqueness.

you guys, my specs are:

intel Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 155H
16 GB DDR4
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU 3GB

i dont think its cpu issues.

I kind of thought it might be enemies but its not that either. steam overlay is definitely a part of it, and my touchpad seems to be problematic.

i dont think the graphics are an issue

Are you sure you haven't got a driver related memory leak somewhere? What's your committed looking like?
