Meteorite explodes over Brazil
No damage caused by the huge explosion was reported.
An observatory in Brazil has captured the moment a meteorite speeds across the night sky before exploding and crashing.
According to reports, the meteorite exploded in Brazil's Hortensias Region in Rio Grande do Sul state.
Professor Carlos Fernando Jung from the Heller & Jung Space Observatory reported the meteorite entered the atmosphere at an altitude of 106.4km and exploded at 67.1km over the cities of Nova Petropolis, Canela and Gramado.
"This meteorite was registered on two cameras here at this special observatory located in Taquera city in Rio Grande do Sul," said local astronomer Carlos Fernando Jung. "And by two more cameras located in Santa Catarina, a city in Monte Castelo, and the city of Florianopolis."
No damage caused by the meteorite was reported.
