The first 3 Solid games made more sense because they still had someone tard wrangling him. It was with 4 onwards that the games went full retard mode.
I should point out that the Gameboy Color port had a Galil as the rifle of choice, and that's such a better choice.
Yeah even the Acid games had more sensible plots then modern Kojima. You could pick them apart, but they mostly held together well and only occasionally did flat out retard shit.

Like in Acid 2 some megacorp that could hire entire mercenary armies and buy US Senators was weirdly scared of the International Court of Justice. The most useless organization next to the UN. Alot of Japanese games have some wierd fondess of the UN as well. Resident Evil references them alot too, do the Japanese think they actually do something other then being a global therapist for European countries to pretend their input in global affairs matter.

This just makes me think of some whacked general staffing an army base out in the middle of nowhere with QBZ Chinese rifles instead of M4s, a similar bullpup weapon, or maybe some obscure FAL clone from some third world country like the South American SC-2010 because he saw it somewhere and liked how it looked. It's just really retarded when you think about it, kind of contrasts with the rest of the game which is actually pretty well written. Reminds me how half the Russian army was equipped with Spas-12 shotguns or FAMAS rifles in Modern Warfare 2 because those were the guns Infinity Ward movies saw in movies when doing "research" for their game rather than anything an actual Russian would use.

Was there ever any deep lore about why there were so many FAMAS in Shadow Moses? That was a US operated facility if I recall, wouldn't M4 or M16 rifles be more appropriate? You could argue that the terrorists brought them in, but you find one in an armory which implies the soldiers were using it for themselves before the attack.
The most logical speculation to me is that Liquid found himself within the French Foreign Legion at some point and got the guns through them, if you allow for the African child soldier lore introduced decades later.

That does make a lot more sense, altho if we're going down that route AKs and other cold war era weapons are still much more commonly used in that part of the world. We're just trying to fix Kojima's bad writing with duct tape fixes. Also, MGS5 didn't even have real guns so not sure those should even count.

Perhaps an early version of the SOP system was already in place for Foxhound, and so when they went rogue he broke out those old guns he procured as they would still be usable. I feel like Liquid would have been predominantly aligned with more EU than Soviet or Russian powers so it makes sense hes stockpiled European guns.

This is the kind of autistic fan universe building and retconning that would suit MGS really well if it reached the same levels as what Star Wars had with all their expanded universe crap. Did George Lucas' ineptitude later in his career matter there? Not really.

I know it's only in the game because Kojima thought it looked cool, but it makes zero sense looking at it rationally.
It's more that it was easier to animate because it's just a set of rectangles
But the real reason is that by the time mgs 1 was being developed they didn't have a military advisor at the time
No, Motosada Mori worked on MGS1 same as all the others

I can totally see Baker reading some fluff piece on the French Foreign Legion and bringing a load in because he's an idiot and/or has more money than God.
As of MGS1, the canon and explicit reason Ocelot uses revolvers is because he's a huge drama queen.

So "someone in-universe thought they were cool" is the bar to clear for gear explanations.

And then in MGS3 you get Ocelot practically jizzing himself over the long-ass reload time the SAA has. In a forced cutscene. In the middle of your battle with him. That has him standing out in the open.

My point exactly! Given Ocelot's whole deal, some dude saying "oh hey these are cool rifles; I'm ordering enough for the entire insurrection" is barely worth a mention.

That you can interrupt and shoot him while he keeps monologuing about the revolvering.
heh.

So I just saw an article pop up saying Fox Hunt is already dead.

I feel like it just came out around November but maybe I'm insane and I just never cared enough to play it.
I did everything in the game, got the Platinum, Snake Vs Monkey, ran through it again to show my wife and brother the little changes only an autistic retard would notice, and even I didn't care enough to actually play Foxhunt when it came out. They should have had it ready at launch if they wanted me to try it out.

I totally believe no else is playing it if even my retarded consoomer ass didn't wanna play it.

foxhunt is 2 modes 3 maps and none are the ones you want to play. its filled with modern cod cancer (+200 and hit icons on the crosshair) and is embarassing compared to mgo1. But why do that when mgo2 exists. Hell mgo3 puts it to shame and thats even more sad.

They should have just done SC-CT Spies vs. Mercs. Everyone I knew was saying it at the time, just do Spies vs. Mercs... It's a game about Spies vs. Mercs, just fucking copy splinter cell, make it a good copy, and the mode would be great. Just do Spies vs. Mercs..... and they did hide and seek instead.... yes, MGO2 would have also been great, but modern shekel-skinning Konami just doesn't have the brains or the quirk for it.

Been replaying Metal Gear Solid 2 and two things that bug me

1) Didn't anyone, in the entire time that Solidus was President, comment on how Solid Snake looks like the President of the United Fucking States? Or comment on how Solidus looks like Big Boss?

2) Also, Solidus was bred to be the perfect soldier. A 1:1 Big Boss clone unlike Snake or Liquid. Doesn't it seem like such a waste for him to be dealing Congresscritters and legislation and all that shit? Isn't that like having a Ferrari and then just using it to do your shopping?
