Also, trophies are not popping. I had 100% multiple times in the Moss camo and it doesn't count. Unless boss camo doesn't figure into that?
If it's your first playthrough I'm guessing you got the camo from The End and used it it during/after the boss battle? Maybe it only counts when regular enemies are nearby i.e. not bosses? I don't think you can get 100% without boss camo. Maybe try Ocelot camo plus desert facepaint in the mountains? I haven't played in ages but I seem to remember that giving a high camo index.

I messed around a little with the M16. It's pretty much unusable. After you fire a round or rounds, it immediately drops the gun down. To re aim, you need to L3 it to pull it back up or if you press square you start randomly firing. I've noticed if you unequip a gun while it was in aiming mode, and reequip, it goes back to aiming. This is retarded.
Maybe it's been too long since I've played the game, but wouldn't the more logical way to get around the pressure sensitive buttons be to simply have you "draw" (or whatever L3 is considered) when you enter first person view mode? Like bind both actions to the single button?

Or at least make it a toggable option?

You can get 100% in rain camo against the End. I'll mess with it tomorrow. I believe Rain and Moss are the only ones that can give you that index.

I'm about done the game so I'll restart tomorrow and I'll try Moss in the Virtuous Missions since there's a spot with the very first guard where it pops to 100%.

You can toggle it with L3 but it conflicts with square since when you file an assault rifle, he puts the gun back down instead of staying in aiming.

At least it doesn't bother the sniper rifles really. Reload cancelling with the Mosin still works and rapes the Fury.

I mean like making Hold L3 or the option of binding both to the FPV button a toggable option. Mostly cause I feel like someone would complain about it even though neither option is faithful to the original.

Dont worry, it seems to be a common issue that the games are not unlucking the archivements.

Its probably poorly worded and actually means to use stealth camo.

Well I can test it tomorrow since I'm doing a no alerts run in combination with no kills.

It just dawned on me I get infinity face paint for no kills but I got the Tsuchinoko. Well, at least I won't need to get that for the species achievement. I'm going to try and get all three of the snakes during the Boss fight.

Yea you mean to do kerotans or no alerts for stealth camo. Kero route is obviously easier just be aware that when you get to snake eater you need to go through the maps again after getting the 1911 because theres new ones compared to the virtuous mission. Also the only map that doesn't have one is the sewer with the dogs for some reason (and I guess the sorrow fight too). Lastly save at every load during the on rails section, some of those are a pain in the ass to get.

Volgin's boss room also counts as its own room seperate from the shagohod hanger so there's one there.

I think that's all the tricky ones.

Yeah I know. I did Kero runs on PS2 and HD col. I hate them. Although I'm not in a hurry to platinum it since I already got it in HD col.

I think I'll do another run and move onto SOL since I haven't really played that in years.

I did it on ps2 years ago but I totally forgot about the first few snake eater ones being different so I wasted a whole run because I just wasn't paying attention.

I recently bought a copy of the graphic novels of MGS1, its not that good, but i like the art by Ashley Woods.
You ever read the MGS1 novelization by chance?

It's alright. I think it cribs the Mantis fight from the graphic novel. I think I sold it a few years ago when I was getting rid of a lot of my possessions though so I can't double check.

The MGS1 novelization reads like a comedic parody of its own source material and it's fantastic. I would recommend anybody to find a way to give it a read.

I never got around to getting the MGS2 one but I remember seeing it in my Barnes and Noble before it closed. I've always wondered how it was.

The MGS2 novelization plays it straight. It's a very faithful retelling of MGS2, but in novel format. I think it reads just fine on its own, but your mileage may vary.

I should re-read it sometime to see if my perception of it holds up.

Anyone know if you need to eat every animal to get the Markhor rank and associated achievement or do you just need to have them in your inventory at least once? I'd much rather keep the tsuchinoko alive and get infinity paint first..

You only need to hold one of every animal, feel free to get the camo.

you need to obtain all animals and the 4 plants.Im not sure if you need to pick them up or not though because theres likely a scenario where you wont be able to pick up the plants id have poison on hand so you can waste medicine if needed.
