I'm seeing people ask "Why did Big Boss go evil", and by that I assume they mean Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land. Wasn't it obvious enough after Ground Zeroes?
It was explained in Metal Gear 2

It was explained again in Metal Gear Solid

It was elaborated upon in Metal Gear Solid 3

It was absolutely fucking hammered in at the end of Peace Walker.

People say they wanted to "See Big Boss go bad" as if that hadn't been every fucking game he was in. I think they really just wanted to PLAY as Big Boss gone bad. (at least I fucking hope, the more I say it out loud the more I just think the loudest MGS fans are fucking retards)

But Kojima was never going to allow that. He couldn't even let you have train child soldiers even though that was a big fucking thing that made Big Boss a bad guy in Metal Gear 2.

I'm with you. Big Boss needed to stay dead. Solid Snake never needed closure with Big Boss. Metal Gear Solid 1 had already dealt with that.

Don't forget the criminally underrated Portable Ops, where Big Boss realizes that comrades in arms should not be divided by flags when he was forced to recruit Russians for his little resistance in Columbia. That was arguably his biggest shift in personality from Naked Snake, and that event formed the basis for his obsession with forming Mercenary outfits with soldiers from all around the world.

Either way, what I am pissed about is how Big Boss came back in MGS4
Yeah, I can see needing Big Boss for closure, but they already had a less-shitty way to do this if they'd remembered Portable Ops: make a non-networked self-aware BB AI like the Mammal Pod was The Boss.

Could be a splinter from one of the Patriot AIs as a project of theirs (a failsafe?), as a project directed by Zero, or something the AI network split off and insulated away when BB's engrams-or-something were trying to take over. Snake could still talk to it alone, have a version of that graveyard moment as the AI version of BB has a much more global view of his actions, and can explain them as well as admit fault.

It'd be neat if the AI version of Big Boss gave its blessing to Solid Snake, then pfft out the life supports of its creator Zero (and maybe the burned human flesh nugget of of BB if we have to have that). Congratulations; you're the last Snake--now go and just be a guy. And then the BB AI shuts itself down (or asks Snake to help asplode it).

That's hacky as anything but it fits in-genre and it's less of an ass-pull than "somehow, Big Boss returned."

Since MGS4 is is/was being discussed, there is a good video that pretty much summarizes it
Unless you really like what you see gameplay wise, save yourself the trouble and watch this video. There is so many bad cutscenes in the game and the video showcases and discusses the important parts, otherwise I would just suggest you watch a cutscene compilation.
Oh and the guy also made a good Cowboy Bebop video as well, I recommend that one as well.

To change the topic a bit, what's the word about the latest HD release? I heard that it takes 10 whole seconds to skip cutscenes for some reason.

I just bought the Master Collection since they had it on CDkeys for like 31% off so we'll see how it goes tho I read that MGS2+3 aren't actually 1080p they're actually 720p like the in the HD remaster they just uprezed them.

Is this the video that quotes the insane broad that helped translate MGS 2 back at original release that shits on Kojima all the time? That video was terrible and it tries to do a George Lucas-style theory where Kojima needs others to be talented when Peace Walker/Phantom Pain are great games that he did himself.

lol we got another one in here.
Means a lot coming from somebody using the astroturfed Kevin James meme that got pushed because it's the 25th anniversary of that Died In Iraq-core show.

Kojima is more clever than any YouTube video essay retard regurgitating a version of an untrue fan theory that's been around for about a decade now. Shouldn't need to be said. MGS 4 has problems (duh) but the MGS games outside of Survive done after it are either good or outright great.

Nigger did you even play Metal Gear Survive? Or did you just bark like the dumb faggot seal cunt you are and bark out the same talking points as everyone else without even playing the game?

I'm sick of seeing you vacant eyed mouth breathing soy niggers claim they are so much smarter then everyone else then say the dumbest most NPC assembly line retard talk I have ever seen.

TLDR: Surivive is alot better then people think and it is a litmus test for wether or not someone actually plays games or just repeat things they read online.

You should say nigger again, it's totally triggering me. Praise kek!

can we just have one whole page that doesn't devolve into a 'kojima is so fucking based/retarded' slapfight.
If somebody posts a video essay made by somebody that would also most likely still think Quiet is sexist/offensive, I'm going to say it's retarded, because it's the truth. Sunny Emmerich is cool. I'll defend MGS 4 against people who still act like it's the worst game ever made.

My take on Metal Gear Survive is it was just low effort DLC designed to try to recoup on on all the time and resources spent creating the FOX Engine and MGSV. I wouldn't be surprised if it was being planned before Kojima left with his knowledge, and it was for a fact made by most of the same people that work on V. It is also not what I am looking for in a Metal Gear game.

On a side note with the MGS3 remake it has already been confirmed that they are using the original voice recordings from 3. So I am assuming the remake will just be 1:1 graphical upgrade like demon souls or shadow of colossus remakes. If this is the case I dont really get the point. They should have gone whole hog and remade the game from the ground up with new mechanics and levels but the same story like FF7 and resident evil remakes. They could even take advantage and do some retcons to make the story more consistent and then moved forward remaking 1, 2, and 4. Would be kino.

The FOX Engine finally getting finished and then only getting used for a 30% complete video game and a soccer game is such a disappointment. We should have FOX Engine remakes of Metal Gear 1/2 and then MGS 1/2/3 in an ideal setting, but it's never going to happen.

As for the MGS remasters being released, from what I know, the only things being removed are related to copyrighted historical footage. There is a content warning before the game starts which is very gay and stupid (It doesn't even last long enough on screen for you to read it), but there's no actual censorship from what I know. I wish we got the Ape Escape bonus mode on PC along with the base game. I'd love the original PS2-era Metal Gear Online that MGS 3 had as well but that's a pipe dream.

Demon Souls Remake is NOT just a graphical upgrade, it fucked quite a bit with the art direction without understanding why any of it was done in the first place and added the usual women/negros into it that every remake seems to shoehorn these days. I say it should be avoided at all costs, as long as you have the ability to play the original(which you should since emulating PS3 games is piss easy these days). Improved graphics just aren't worth it.

As for Survive, I think it is definitely underrated. Undercooked? Maybe, but I had fun. Game was treated too harshly for what it was, and it is a fact that vast majority of people who shit on it, I would say about 80% of them, either never played the game and watched a retard e-celeb like dunkey who only played an hour of it or only played an hour of it themselves. Every single argument I hear from people about that game is either utter retarded nonsense or complaints aimed at what is essentially just the tutorial segment, where as none of these people seem to know what happens once the game gets rolling when the actual story starts, funnily enough. That's why I don't really take people who shit on that game too much seriously, especially when they sound like they came straight from cuckchan's /v/ board.
I will say this, the game is too short, and it's banking too much on re-using MGS5 assets, that's true. That's why I'm sad we will never get a sequel, I think all these issues could be ironed out easily. Shame the online mode is dead too, it looks like a good mix of Killing Floor and MGS5, I imagine it would have been amazing if there was an active community playing it and it had more content.

Apparently the digital sountrack that comes with the new collection is missing a lot of the music, I dont think it reflects the music that is in the games tho, just whoever made the album just put whatever music and skipped others for apparently no reason.

That's a problem with a lot of soundtracks, that's why you don't pay for it and browse Youtube or datamine instead
