Kojima: "Don't you get it!? YOU ARE BIG BOSS!! DID YOU RIKE IT!?"

No Kojima, I didn't rike it one bit. I wanted Big Boss to be Big Boss you prick.

P.S. I also didn't rike Meryl marrying that pants shitter Johnny. What the fuck were you thinking you big dummy

It's like when we thought we would get Snake in MGS4 and while we did, we wanted the young version. But at least I feel they handled Old Snake well. He was more of a hardass than any of the other games because he didn't care about dying so he was constantly throwing himself into shit head first.

MGS4 is loaded with problems but no one is gonna tell me the microwave hallway wasn't the shit. Same goes for Snake vs Ocelot.

Sperging out about MGSV made me realize that Quiet was the last time we ever had a "sexy" female video game character...and that came out 8 years ago...:punished:
Shionne in Tales of Arise was pretty hot. Also Code Vein was a thing. I can only think of anime games though.

MGS4 would have been fine if the entire game was like the first two missions: A mercenary playground where your choices mattered, you could open fire on side A that belong to nation X, but then a mission takes place in nation X and they still remember what you've done. Things like that, just being part of an active battlefield, it would have really fit in with "War has changed" theme the game was setting up at the start.
As is, after the second mission the game just kind of shits itself and it becomes part nostalgia wanking trying to shoehorn in everything from the first three MGS games into this one, and then the other part is just tech test levels that felt like they were vertical slices to test some ideas or PS3's capabilities more than anything else. I didn't like a bit of it, I never had a PS3 so I never played it but lord knows I watched enough of the game. Multiplayer looked nice, but then again I said the same thing about MGS3.
Oh, and the devs are cowards for not letting Snake blow his brains out at the end or go with the ending where he and Otacon go to prison as terrorists. Would have been a fitting ending, a man out of time with no purpose left having everything catch up to him. Big Boss and Zero reveal were fucking retarded, I would have been pissed if that was the grand ending I would have seen in 2008. MGS2 or MGR are much better endings to the franchise as a whole and I wish they would have done more with Raiden

Multiplayer was busted once the exploiters and hackers figured shit out. The #1 ranked player, Melissa Mao was a known cheater and Konami never made an attempt to clean up the game. There was also, what you could consider a problem, as certain in game achievements and such were tied to your overall stats; and if you got a bad start or team camped or other shit too much, you'll never get any of the more prestigious things. And no "Get good" doesn't work, because one of the glitches (not a hack, just a fucking in game exploit) was the person who killed you last could hold down certain buttons and upon your respawn, would immediately get a headshot kill on you, and could just fucking camp somewhere and waste you over and over and over. It was fun for the first few months, but once people started figuring out how to cheat, shit became a fucking mess.

It has more misses than hits to be certain.

The gameplay basically stops after Act 2 and then it's a cutscene simulator.
NOOOOOO!! THE GAME IS A MASTERPIECE!! IT JUST IS, OKAY!! IT'S KOJIMA'S BEST GAME!!! YOU JUST DON'T GET THE STORYTELLING!!

I never got the love for MGS4.
While I did enjoy some of it, those parts being few and far between, it's definitely not a masterpiece, or the best in the series.

The "riding on the back of the motorcycle shooting" section of MGS4 is the point where I realized the game just sucked.

I've replayed and fucked around in Act 1 and 2 more times than I can count.

The rest though...

I just hate how the opening to that game is just "holy shit it's MGS with a little too much cutscenes but it's hitting the right notes" and then just ends up in a tailspin of "why is this even in the game", "what was the purpose of the last three hours of this section", etc.

It's by far the most replayable. By every metric, it's the "best" game but there's just a je ne sais quoi that the first two had that feels missing at times. Still a 9/10.

Act 2 falls apart as soon as it becomes a rail sim with the APC bullshit.

MGS3 is still unequivocally the best game to play in the series that still feels really good to play.

But personally, the narrative, the cinematics I still hold MGS2 as the best game since we got the looming plot line of the Patriots... and MGS4 fails miserably concluding that.

"Oh they're all just AIs now, and there's no explanation on how they control anything? Like, do politicians just talk to ChatGPT?"

preordered the collection from GMG bc it's like 22% off
really want to play mgs 3 hd on my deck without rpcs3 bottlenecking performance

MGS 3 was genuinely lighting in a bottle, I hope they recapture the sheer versatility of the systems for the remake but make it more expanded (ie snake eater 3d but running at a higher fps count and single screen).

Remember those funny guys from MGS3?

Solid Snake's dad who has an autistic interest in guns and is afraid of vampires.
Woman who doesn't shut up about movies.
British guy who loves James Bond.
Black guy who loves guns.

These 4 goofballs founded the turbo-illuminati.
