As is the 9/11 trigger warning in the original wasn't gay enough.
MGS2 would have been a lot different if not for last-minute changes due to 9/11, though. They could remaster and include a "what if 9/11 never happened" version and it'd be interesting, if mostly cosmetic stuff and battle locations.

A lot of non-news media were scrambling and throwing up a disclaimer was insurance.

Remember the right-before-9/11 meme version of "Tunak Tunak Tun" with the lyrics "Kompressor crushing all of Manhattan/Kompressor flying plane into building?" Because of where I was in my life, I had a "wow, drew from toothpastefordinner was right" moment before I had a "Kojima was right" moment.

Before 9/11 NYC was the site of a lot of disaster movies tbf. I remember Hydro Thunder having a track set in a flooded out NYC.

Independence Day and Armageddon being two major examples, as they were sorta the benchmark of not just disaster movies, but also modern Hollywood blockbuster movies as we know it for better or for worse (and I actually think it's the latter). It's funny considering they were set to rebroadcast during that month on TV before being pulled also due to 9/11.

Not entirely related but this is information I love sharing, but I remember watching The Lone Gunmen (spinoff of The X-Files) and the pilot was literally about a government conspiracy involving crashing a plane into the Twin Towers and blaming another country to incite war and sell more guns. And it released March of 2001.

If you mean The Lone Gunmen thing, it's just because of how specific it is and how closely it matches up with the most common conspiracy theory involving the attack that I find interesting.
Nah, it just feels like people forget that 9/11 wasn't the first time so there was like a precedent for having stuff happen there in media in general.

The Lone Gunmen thing is very specific and weird. I remember as a teen when I saw a teacher watching the news on 9/11 I thought it was a movie or TV show because I had watched TLG and then they told me no it was happening right now.

I just have to ask, but people are aware 9/11 wasn't even the first terror attack on the World Trade Center, right?
PL but my dad was almost caught in that in '93. He used to do deliveries to the WTC in the late morning/early afternoon as part of his route.

Did someone mention 9/11, Spider-Man and game edits!?

Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro had to have all of it's copies recalled just before it launched to have the final stage altered as it took place on top of the Twin Towers.

Also, they had to remove the final cutscene which is why the game just kind of ends with a Newspaper article scene.

I believe it's a big deal in the lost media space.

If we're still talking about 9/11, let's all remember this infamous Spider-Man teaser

The first movie had to cut the Twin Towers out of a bunch of scenes too. You can still see it in one or two shots, though.

Guys, I hate how most of the Metal Gear fandom these days only cares about Rising. I like Rising too, but the Solid franchise deserves much more attention and clearly has the best development. I try to influence these people to play Solid but they don't want to because "they don't like stealth". Fuck this world.

That's how I felt when every weaboo faggot in the fanbase became obsessed with MGS2
