I believe the only thing confirmed was that it is using the same motion data for the models no? and I think the same voice acting.
Oh, maybe I misunderstood or people were just dooming then?

I don't know. It looks good. Certainly more worthy of the "remake" moniker than most of the shit that's come out this gen, at least.

Still don't know if I'd buy it though. I'm *really* sick of remakes/remasters.

Uhhhh...Snakes doing a crouch walk.

Was the talk of them just reskinning the game meant they were reskinning the 3DS version?
It looks like they're adding crouch walking and snap to cover which is fine really. It looks alright and I'm genuinely excited for them to keep the classic VA work.

If they can open up maps a little and make everything interconnected it will already surpass my rock bottom expectations.

...isnt that HGWs score from the game?
Most of it's fine like the beginning for the jungle less inhabited areas but a few parts of the track just don't mesh well with the hyper realistic graphics. Wonder how they're gonna mix the voicework too without it looking too uncanny valley. remember pachinko eater.

Ok, I played a bit more and found a couple more problems with MGS3
The game is way too fucking loud and there is no way to turn down the audio ingame, also some effects and lines are slightly higher than others
If you change the controller prompts from xbox to ps it does not save, so you have to change them every time you start the game.
Apparently MGS2 has some audio problems as well with poping and crackling, but I havent tested it yet.
overall these are not deal breakers and I am sure they will fix them soon, apparently the 720p lock is a bug also, so I assume that whatever patch they release to fix that will also have some other fixes for at least some of the smaller problems.

Where's that guy that said this shit would be better than emulating?
its absolutely better than emulating it takes the burden of emulating hardware off of your own hardware. This can probably run on pcs made when it came out on the ps3.

Its basically a 1:1 port which is good and bad but now that its so accessible mods are going to exist for it. I really hope that mgo2 content ends up in vol. 2 and someone mods mgs4 to be playable as hero characters like raiden and vamp.

Okay, why would you try to emulate the PS3 ports instead of the Playstation and Playstation 2 originals, though?
Better texture work, less emulation bugs. Have you tried to emulate either version? Ive done both and the ps2 version has lag in cutscenes and weird shading issues. Even on original hardware I prefer the hd version its a pretty definitive port unless you want snake vs ape or mgo1 via private server.

I believe the only thing confirmed was that it is using the same motion data for the models no? and I think the same voice acting.
That's what it looked like from the screenshots. They may have tweaked it a little here obviously for the crouch walk but it looks like they took all the wireframe data definitely to build the areas. I can't quite tell if they redid any animations. The water walking looked the same and the way he holds the rifle.

*looks at all the bugs these official ports have and yet are supposedly better*

....riiiiiight.

Just admit you have no idea what you're talking about. Especially with your pie in the sky idea that people are going to mod MGS4 into a hero shooter or whatever.
They're not bugs. They're features intended by Hideo Kojima.
