The chippa badger is not available.

Id love a 22lr mares leg. Those are rare. An ar 7 henry would be work but not how ID want it too. A henry lever action woild work but too much. I want something smaller.

The Rossi gallery ID buy if it wasnt made of crap metal.

Stay away from the AR7, I made that mistake once and still trying to sell mine along with all the shit I got for it. It was the Henry one, not the older CA one. It's the only lemon I've ever seen from Henry.

The issues are: It's almost entirely made out of polymer and feels like a cheap BB gun. It's touchy about certain types of ammo, doesn't like hollowpoints. Had to tweak magazine feed ramps to get it to work halfway decent. Holding your support hand against the mag when you're shooting it usually results in a misfeed, and there aren't too many other logical places to keep your hand. The barrel is not even entirely made out of steel, it's plastic with a steel liner, can easily bend if you're not careful. Not accurate at all because every time you reassemble it the point of impact changes, plus steel liner barrel that can heat up and warp.

Some kind of a cheap 10/22 would probably be better, and they usually cost about the same.

Edit: Off-topic, this is my favorite 22 right now. Beretta Olimpia Super Sport. The Italians built it as a trainer for their full-size Carcano rifles back in the 50's so it has similar weight and handling. Gorgeous fit and finish, everything fits like a Swiss watch. Ridiculously accurate for a semi-auto too, check out that fat bull barrel. Been getting nice tight groups at 100 yards with CCI Standard Velocity. Getting optics on it was a pain in the ass due to the odd Euro mount, but found some Sportsmatch weaver mount rings that fit after some tweaking. Trial and error found that it takes Zastava MP22 mags with some minor tweaks.

Im also looking for a rifle that can shoot 22lr, 22 longs, and 22 shorts. I was looking at the Rossi gallery but found out its made out of poor quality metal. Any ither suggestions?
Can't anything chambered for 22LR shoot Long and Short as well? Cursory search says accuracy/ballistics might not be great as 22 Long is designed for a different twist?

I'm probably going to pick up a Ruger American rifle for the kids. It's a mag-fed bolt action 22LR. $400-500.(shortened youth stock is available)

If its mag fed and semi auto no. Low powered rounds (shorts, quiets, lings) dont cycle and the mag gets maladjusted if you try to store anything other then 22lr or longs.

I have a ruger 22lr semi pistol. You feed shorts into the mag the rounds will sink head first into the mag.

Usually the magazines are the problem, may not feed well. Since 22LR has a longer chamber, shooting 22 short or long will result in a longer leade (distance travelled by the bullet before it engages the rifling) and lower pressure, reducing accuracy. It will also foul up the chamber so if you switch to 22LR after it may be a bit of a tight fit. Also obviously it won't cycle in a semi auto, just like some types of subsonic 22LR ammo.

For the most part 22 short is obsolete, unless you're shooting rats in your basement or have some kind of ancient target gun from back before Olympic shooters switched to 22LR. Unless you have a very specific reason you need 22 short or 22 long, maybe just go for 22LR. Ruger is a good choice.

Ar 7 .com for all your needs. I had a henry ar 7 and loved it. I had an 1o22 and it wasnt what I wanted. I want the ability to shoot mouse fart rounds without the hassle a semi or mag fed has. I dont want a bolt action.

As for why? I practice shooting indoors and need quiet pest control so not to upset the neighbors.

That's where I got my steel barrel to replace the flimsy plastic one. It shot better but the weight really threw off the balance, made everything way too nose-heavy. I even did a custom 3D printed chassis for it, still not happy with the performance. Maybe one of those retractable stocks will be heavy enough to balance it out, but at this point it's rapidly approaching fancy semi-custom 10/22 prices.

After getting the Beretta Olimpia I ended up putting the AR7 in the furthest corner of the safe until I find a buyer for it.

Thanks. It was my birthday this week and I've been considering selling off my Vz 2008 anyway - it's not that it's bad, just there's no good optics options for Vz 58 style rifles and the aftermarket is expensive as fuck.

EDIT: Then again I already dropped like 600 bucks this year on getting my FAL sent in for restoration work. Fuck me.

Fuck sold out. I was on the fence. I don't NEED it but I don't want to be like boomers today who passed on cool 80s import shit that now run in the 5 figure range bc they are all banned.

Not saying ZPAPs will be 5 figures but I'd rather have surplus import than whatever dogshit domestic is around, especially with these new laws allowing people to sue gun manufacturers on the table.

I'm honestly debating selling my M85 that I had modded for a dust rail and new iron sights way before Zastava made a US import company.
How much are you considering parting with it for? Got pics?
