I think I just heard my bank account winch.

I bought mine from a sporting goods store that's more targeted at Fudds. It had been sitting on the shelf for nearly a year, and they were having a sale when I bought it. I mean, it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. I've got two uppers for it: the original upper with the monolithic picatinny rail system, and then I bought a stripped upper that has M-Lok slots machined into the hand guard. I've only got the 16" chrome lined barrel that came with the rifle so far and I've got the M-Lok upper on the rifle with an Aimpoint Comp M4 in a KDG Sidelock mount. The picatinny upper has an Elcan Spectre TR scope mounted on it, and I plan on putting a stainless 20" barrel in it. So I'll have one upper set up for general self defense use that's lighter, has a weapon light, and a red dot, and the other upper will be for longer range like a DMR with the Elcan scope, bipod, etc.

And even with all that, it's not my most expensive rifle. That would be my Mk14 Mod 0 that I built from an LRB barreled action. I'm fine with paying money for quality. I've always believed in quality over quantity. Aside from a couple .22s I have for fun and my S&W Model 57 .41 Magnum from 1968-69, all of my firearms were bought with self defense in mind and the least expensive of them is my SIG P226 TacOps 9mm.

How the fuck does one attack things to a mlok?

Yes they look smoother than a picanny rail but have to make attachments so complicated.

They attach via cross nuts that "lock" vertically across the hole. I honestly prefer picatinny because that's what I grew up with but M-LOK is way better than keymod.

Pretty much nothingburgers. The ghost gun serialization isn’t surprising, and neither is the crackdown on 80% parts - the key thing behind those is the intent to make it into a firearm, which is known to the buyer and the seller. The new ATF head isn’t a surprise either - we haven’t had one since 2015 and Trump didn’t add a new one so we’ve had an acting head since then. Pistol braces getting looked over has honestly been a thing I’m surprised hasn’t happened earlier, it was always playing chicken with the ATF.

Chipman is 100% correct about the US fueling the cartels in terms of arms though. The vast majority of their small arms arsenal comes from the US, and is converted by cartel smiths into full auto function quickly. He’s wrong about the two helicopters being shot down though, I think.

EDIT: The red flag laws also aren’t going anywhere, it’s proposed legislation options. Most states aren’t even going to look it over for too long - if they haven’t passed one already they’re unlikely to do it now.

It’s been happening longer than that. You had overflow from our puppet governments friends in South and Central America alongside Soviet gifts to their puppet governments friends getting into cartel hands in South and Central America since the 70’s. Where drugs are smuggled, firearms follow. Hell, firearms are easier to conceal if you know what you’re doing as a smuggler - though ammunition is a bit more difficult. The end of the AWB was a windfall for the cartels as purchasing agents in the states could get access to a much better selection close to the border.

Kinetic Development Group has some really sweet M-Lok accessories, like lengths of pic rail, that have a spring-loaded tab at each end of the accessory. Just squeeze the buttons for the tabs, fit the item into the M-Lok slot, and release the buttons. The spring pressure holds the accessory securely in place. I really dig KDG's stuff. Really well thought-out.

I'll be the optimistic one and say it won't be that extreme, I think we'll just get some kind of regulation on 80% kits, background checks on ammo, and extended wight times. Which is shitty but it's not another AWB.

I don't think they'll want to risk anything to extreme hitting the courts and they already are having issues with enforcement of EOs at the state level. Just look how quickly they turned around on vaccine passports.

Honestly, looks like another big nothingburger, similar to Obama's EOs after Sandy Hook. The president can't really do a lot with executive orders as far as guns go. He COULD ban imports, but at least as far as that article is concerned it doesn't look like that's on the menu. All of those executive orders are "directing" various federal agencies, which to laypeople like us means fuckall. This bit is interesting:

Seems scary at first but how do you actually do a background check on a firearm sale that by definition cannot be tracked? So this is useless. Maybe it'll mean when you buy old-ass unserialized guns from before serial numbers were required at a gun store, they background check you? But I've bought old .22s from gun stores that didn't have serial numbers years ago and got background checked on those. The bits about assault weapons all include the qualifier "concealed" so I think what's going to happen is some sort of higher charge is going to be placed on a concealed weapons charge if it's an "assault weapon," kind of like how in some jurisdictions, you get a harsher sentence for crack than you do regular cocaine.
People on /k/ are shitting their pants thinking he's going to EO braces but I see no proof of this yet. Doesn't mean he won't but braces haven't been involved in any high-profile stuff like bump stocks were so I'm not holding my breath.

THAT BEING SAID, I don't 100% know what Joe is or isn't capable of, and "concealed assault-style firearms" could be specifically referring to braced pistols which would suck if those got banned. We'll see. (I added this line so in case he DOES ban braces I cannot be called a liar and I cannot be accused of getting people's hopes up)

Your average Congress critter is more concerned with outlier cases. Those outlier cases result in sizeable body counts in less than an hour, massive police mobilization, media frenzy, and people wondering “why doesn’t someone do SOMETHING.” Of these outlier cases, the vast majority of them involve long arms - Texas Tower, El Paso, Las Vegas, Aurora, Sandy Hook etc.

Looking like you’re doing something matters, even if nothing actually gets done.


Anyway the part of the EO’s I’m most interested in is the arms trafficking part.
