Steaming & bore-snakes.
Much cheaper & easier than boiling, also safer.

Which also has the benefit of converting rust to black oxide, which can then be handcloth or felt wheel buffed.

In any case, it was a blackpowder gun, and they're not nearly as painful as 10-bore smokeless.

At one point I was the temporary caretaker of a Hudsons-branded 1940's H&R single, which lived in da UP cabin as our family goose gun.

When the shotgun was handed to me, it came with 2 boxes of 40's era shells; 1 buck, 1 waterfowl.

I think there were 3 missing from each, or one for every decade it's been around.

The Beretta 92 isn't an especially expensive gun, especially since US military contracts reduce the demand and increase the supply (a lot of retiring mils took them home, or bought what they knew). Sigs are known to be highly accurate out of the box; Glocks are known to be the Toyota of guns, reliable, cheap, and readily available.

I've had friends who seriously knew guns, so I know enough about guns to realize I don't know a goddamn thing about guns and would probably shoot myself accidentally twice and have it blow up in my hand before I got it even pointed at an intruder.
I've got some "bats with nails" type bludgeoning things and some dumb mall ninja swords instead.
 
Grab a Browning Hi Power. They are out of production now and what is currently in stock with dealers in the last of ‘em.
 
I have a Chileno Modelo 1895 Mauser carabinero/artillery mosqueton in the back of my vehicle with a leather bandoleer carrying 12 x 5-round stripper clips. It's antique firearm, so no FFL, no papers, nothing. And the state law says you can drive around in vehicle with unregistered long arms in back.
 
For the hell of it I picked up some subsonic .22lr and took my suppressed AR SBR to the range with a 16" upper on and it was quiet as a BB gun. I like that a lot.

Just don't want to shoot a lot of .22 through my Saker since it doesn't break down

Subsonic .22LR is pretty nice, I just wish it reliably cycled through semi-automatics.
