Anyone else shoot regularly? I've been into guns since I was 8 or so and my dad started to take me shooting. I've mostly shot just a shit ton of ARs and .22s, but I like shooting more uncommon stuff when I can. Here's a couple old pics from my drive. There's a couple more vids and pics but they show my pasty face and I don't plan on doxing myself.

Oh hey, you're the guy that posted that RPD pic in the Vegas shooter thread.
I don't have any guns, but I was considering looking for a Sig P226.
Thoughts?

If you have very little experience I would say you need to get a .22, be it a rifle or a pistol, and practice the basics on that. If you're looking for a carry handgun there are certainly newer/cheaper options out there, though a 226 is a decent if you find a decent deal. My dad has one in .40 that he used to ccw.

I like that 'nam set up a whole lot. I always liked the A1's foregrip. It may eventually end my embargo on ARs.

Until then, it's been all slavshit. But, great slavshit like the Vz.58.

Sig P226s are great guns, if it's what you want in a fire arm, you will not be let down. I've owned 2 sigs both P series and very much happy with them, it's a long story why I don't own them, so I'll spare you but it has nothing to do with the quality of the firearm.

That being said, you are no guns, if this is your first buy will it meet what you want for a fire arm? If so, you will be happy.

There's a pretty big mixed camp on 22 first or not, I tend to lean to yes. The anti's are big for "flinch" being built in, I disagree but I digress. He mentioned owning no firearms, not no experience, I hate to broadly generalize things so, I hope he can chime in more what they want a firearm for their experience etc.

All that said, P226 are great, if it works for his needs. It's just a darn good gun.

Give in, 20" ARs are dope AF. I posted mine in the Mega rad Gun thread in OT. I am also not a "fan" of AR's I own 4....... the Old girl build is my jam, the only one I "enjoy"

You can never go wrong with slav shit komrade, never. VZ58s are just a flying fuck you to Russia and logic, and great fire arms. It's a shame the mags are not cheap.

Also please forgive me for sounding like back seat modding, but we have at least 2 gun threads in OT, so lets put this on the focus on shooting it self and not just turn it into another firearm thread, we have great ones already rolling.

So that being said, lest I wag my finger and walk away. What kind of shooting do you all do? I shoot, for fun/relaxing (plinking) I used to compete in 2 gun mostly to run troll setups and sometimes just wipe the local scrubs up. I've done some long range shooting and kinda like it due to muh autism of hand loading and dedication it takes. But also I enjoy hunting. I think for most people who do hunt, I love animals so I focus on good clean fatal shots. That also lets me get snobby and play at my reloading bench.

I have been cooking up some new rounds for amusement, I'm a wildcatter at heart and love strange ammo so building my own is just a big enjoyment of the sport.

Definitely going to consider a CZ, then. I like the Jericho, not necessarily because of the Bebop connection but because of its build quality; it just feels like a good pointer.
They are CZs, again I'm not bashing them at all, the slide safety is the "worst" issue imho. So check some of the other options. If that one is the one you feel fits and points nicest jump on it. CZ proper has the most options in regards to calibers and layouts. So if you want to be really picky about DA/SA SAO etc, CZ is probably your best bet.

The one I will warn you about is EAA's 10mm stock they will crack the slide. It's an easy fix of a different recoil spring, but hot 10mm will nuke em.

I'm looking at stripped lowers right now. I'm trying to keep the whole thing under $1000.
That gives you depending on parts 600 or less to work with with bare bones.
What barrel length do you want? Railed? What will you be doing with the rifle? Any laws or rules you need to meet in your area? Do you want optics or irons, maybe both?

Don’t own any guns currently but target shooting happens to be one of my hobbies. Clay pigeon shooting is also very addictive, too bad I only tried it once; I was pretty good for a first-timer.

Far as guns go, I own a double barrel and a pump (my mind is thinking its either 20 or 16 gauge). Also inherited a couple guns from my deceased grandfather, a .22 rifle for shooting raccoons (meant for another family member but due to some unsavory action he done, he's not getting it) and a shotgun that's broken at the moment.

Shooting targets with them is a fun past time though as far as shooting ranges go in where I live, it's just driving out to the countryside where one can shoot a gun,

There was a point where I almost caved in and bought a Norinco SKS. Something told me to go big or go home, so I wound up changing my mind and eventually went for a Beretta BM-59 rebuild from James River Armory. Though probably not much different from an M1A in terms of efficiency, it's a .308 powerhouse without any recoil and a pretty secure investment.

My brother's looking to get a semi-auto rifle, too; probably an M1 Carbine or FAL (though I've been trying to talk him into an SP1). Right now, though, he's got a nice MKIII* Lee-Enfield from 1917, which is by far an absolute beaut to shoot.

Though I don't have pictures, we also own a 1943-dated Mosin-Nagant, a Mossberg 500 pump with extra slug barrel, and a few other shotguns and .22s, mostly single-shots.

Anything that can be done lying down and only requires one finger isn't a real sport.

I'm doing a 16 inch railed barrel. It will mostly be for target practice. I've already got an optic but I might get an iron sight.

Laws wise nothing crazy in my area.

As Bassomatic said, while I don't own guns, I do have (a little) experience with them.
:powerlevel: I visited my father a while back and we were shooting .22 and .22LR at homemade targets for a few days. :powerlevel: There was also a 9mm handgun I tried out, don't remember anything about it other than that. Shooting is fun as hell, and I'd like to get back into it sometime soon.
So, as far as the type of shooting, just homemade targets.

Sorry I didn't spend $2k on an A1 upper from some fudd hoarder piece of shit.
It's strange retro seems in now why more people aren't making that stuff, the nodak lowers are over 300 FFS.

My retro is a plain jane DPMS because as you said fuck that. But my carry handle is legit :P
